**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

I have never seen a tool like Thoughtspot in my entire life. I have used this tool almost since its inception and was very much impressed from the entire product.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Updates for ThoughtSpot were kind of slow as compared to other leading tools in the market. To compete with them, it has to speed up development.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ThoughtSpot Search and SpotIQ are the competent tools one can utilize to solve the business problems.

  ### 5. ThoughtSpot A Great Self Service Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin C. | Business Intelligence Engineer, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

I like the simplicity of the tool for end user questions. I work in BI and I work with ThoughtSpot end users everyday. I have found that the tool puts the power in their hands. I have seen great answers created by end users and it is amazing what they can do when they have information in their hands. ThoughtSpot has saved me a ton of time in development because the end users can do it all themselves.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

The biggest issue we have ran into is the need to create additional views when wanting to create aggregates or comparing the same column over a period of time. In the sense that have customers that purchase our product and there is not an easy way to pull this customers oldest product and their newest product based on a simple date field. If there was a better way to do this comparison bascially making the customer table the main part of a worksheet without having to do that extra work that would be a great win for the end users.

**Recommendations to others considering ThoughtSpot:**

ThoughtSpot has been a great tool for giving power and knowledge to the end users with little extra backend work. It has not required excessive development though its life which has been great for allowing us as engineers to get more work done. We truly enjoy using ThoughtSpot and we look forward the the cotinued innovations they are promising.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have completely eliminated the need for a dedicated engineer to be assigned to our Compliance team. They were one of our first user buy ins and we have seen great success there. We have also seen on that same team they no longer need to go to our BI team for adhoc requests. We have also provided the product to our product team who uses the tool to review and answer questions about our Customer Journey which has been a big win for us in understanding who our customer is.

  ### 6. Super easy & fast

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob M.

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

Rapid queries, and being able to answer questions so quickly. The customization of being able to iterate different visualizations effortlessly to rapidly check on the best option to tell the story.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

The lack of customization in visualizations for final share to pdfs for clients. The site is not live/shareable for our customers (based on company security), so currently I cannot add additional visuals, or images, or slides to ThoughtSpot. I want it to be a one stop shop to create a data driven presentation. Instead, I take screengrabs of charts I need, and drop them into a Google Slides template. If I want to export to a jpeg, the visualizations change (text becomes smaller/illegible on the charts), so screengrab is the only option I use to maintain integrity of the visuals.

Also, I cannot keep conditional formatting in exported pdfs. If I have a charted that highlights in red negative trends, those are lost on the table in the pdf.

I am not sure which of these features have been resolved with the new updates coming for pdf exports.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reviewing my sales territory to better understand opportunities, tracking growth of sales/revenue, quickly prepare business performance stats for customers.

I love being able to pull questions while talking to a customer, and seem immediately knowledgeable about their unique needs.

  ### 7. Analytics with AI - Industry expert; Recommended to a client

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hari K. | President, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2020

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

It is a great analytics tool combined with AI. When you search, it provides answers to the business, simply like a google search

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Little expensive for mid-range companies and shortage of technical resources

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Users can search like a simple google search for the answers unlike traditional analytics tool

  ### 8. Thoughtspot is intuitive and flexible with an approachable UI

**Reviewed by:** Samantha E.

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

I like how ad hoc it can be. While it is possible to pull the same reports over and over again, the strength is how flexible it can be. This lets me use ThoughtSpot to pull the most pertinent information every time.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

I use ThoughtSpot as a field employee in sales, and my team is not full of data scientists. So little things can become such frustrations that my colleagues won't actually use Thoughtspot. For instance, colors that change when you adjust your search, or when you pull two datasets needing to adjust so the Y axes match, and not being able to set a default. These are small things for most companies, but not for a salesforce that needs quick and intuitive tools.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to calculate ROI for prospective or existing clients on granular data points.

  ### 9. Data Engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Malathi R. | Sr. Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

Simplicity in Design, Faster in data visualization.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Edit feature to rename columns was sometimes creating confusion.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Loading bulk of data into a centralized server for data viz. With a little knowledge on DBs, tools , One can do it on their own.

  ### 10. gem of tool in BI landscape

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2020

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

Thoughspot has connector for almost all modern data warehousing tools.
Pinboards is a feature I like a lot. Custom calendars also provide lot of flexibility if your organisation has its own financial calendar

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Initial learning curve if you are coming from some other BI tool.
Pricing should be competitive. Free community edition is also needed.

**Recommendations to others considering ThoughtSpot:**

check pricing estimation and comfort ability of business users

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BI dashboards to gain analytics insight

  ### 11. I love Thoughtspot

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** craig H. | VP, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

The speed of innovation of the product as well as the speed of discovery of data.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

I would like more functionality in the pinboards so that I can describe what action my customers sould take with the information that they are looking at.

Some of my users dislike the fact that the initial experience is a blank page (solved a little with the new homepage) but I would like to help user addoption by improving the first use experience.

**Recommendations to others considering ThoughtSpot:**

Just buy it. It really does improve cusomer experience and access to data

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are improving access to data for our buisinees travel customers, and we are solving the problem of providing that access to our wide customer base.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2020

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

ThoughtSpot is intuitive in its user experience. The simply search method of building charts ensures anyone can use it and negates need for large dedicated business intelligence teams

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Sometimes you'll come across errors where starts wont load and this takes a little tweaking to get right, to get your visualisations working

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bringing more data into the light of day. Solving questions like revenue analysis. Or having a quick way to built enterprise dashboards.

  ### 13. Slick BI tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Margaret E. | Data Analyst Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

I enjoy the quick capabilities of switching variables and chart types on the fly. The keyword search and NLP searches work well and fast. And the SpotIQ insights are super useful.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

Creating the back-end worksheets might still be a work-filled effort. Our data is really messy with tons of joins and there will be much work to get it into a comfortable format.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lots of our business partners constantly ask us for data tables, simple things like how much profit did we make last week. This would alleviate some of the data analyst workload off of simple queries and on to bigger initiatives.

  ### 14. Good and clean infrastructure from IT to business users.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

Easy to use and navigate, it will allow the end-user to get straightforward answers.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

I cannot say a lot of dislike, perhaps if the application can be used in all browsers it will be good.

**Recommendations to others considering ThoughtSpot:**

Certification would be good.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Answers for end-user.
Because it uses Linux, it is easy to manage in the back-end.

  ### 15. Making Insights Accessible

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about ThoughtSpot?**

I love the use of AI to intuitively determine and recommend what matters most to users. The ability to learn over time and leverage the power of community makes this a potential gamechanger.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

It would be easy for folks to think that ThoughtSpot will solve all of their data and analytics problems, but it's important to educate folks on how to ensure a robust data model to enable optimal functionality.

**Recommendations to others considering ThoughtSpot:**

Make sure you have good data governance and data modeling practices defined and implemented before relying on ThoughtSpot to enable self-service insights. The data must be trustworthy and accurate.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're starting with centralization of data and insights related to our Supply Chain function. So far, we're benefiting from centralized views of formerly disparate data sources, which is helping to make connections that were previously difficult to come by.

  ### 16. TS Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer M.

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

The ability to be nimble with data and it presents in a very user friendly manner.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

at times, writing queries can take a few tries to get it right

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we are solving the problem of 'proving value with analytics'. We work with restaurateurs and chefs who get a bill at the end of the month, and don't always see the value in our product. by using TS to show reports of where their diners are coming from and what OpenTable is doing to drive those diners, (hopefully) drives our business case and provides a clear ROI of our partnership.

Haven't really found something I do not like yet (I am new to thoughtspot)

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** vahid Z. | Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

The pinboard and the fact that you can play with it like a social media. This allows better organization of ideas and minimum spams.

No true dislikes. Some of the features don't work well with the nuances of our data, but I believe those will be fixed in future releases.

We are using ThoughtSpot to provide data to senior leaders, who tend to be less technical. No benefits yet, as we are in the early stages.

The automated insights, SpotIQ and speed at which valuable and actionable insights are at our fingertips is extremely powerful. I lead a team of analysts and can’t wait to share new features so we can fully leverage the power of ThoughtSpot.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

No dislikes to report thus far. The system seems very user friendly and easy to navigate through.

**What problems is ThoughtSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Still in the initial on boarding phase and testing of sample data. I think the biggest challenge we may face is separate from ThoughtSpot, but getting users to have inherent trust in the underlying data and therefore to have trust in the insights ThoughtSpot can provide.

The keynote sessions. I enjoyed learning how other companies / organizations are using Thoughtspot and learning about the new ThoughtSpot features. I was really inspired by the work of Not Impossible.

**What do you dislike about ThoughtSpot?**

The speakers in the breakout sessions I attended spoke very generally about their use of ThoughtSpot. I think I would have gotten more value out of the sessions if they talked specifically about how they use and implemented ThoughtSpot and aligned their talking points with the titles of the sessions.
