You don't need a coding or programming background to do most of what you want to do in the system. It's also accessible from mobile devices, which was a must for us since we have people out in the field away from desks and computers. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** Some of the reporting isn't easy to get at. We've had to submit help desk tickets to get get information that's not included in the stats page; last login, for example. Also, I wish the form builder functionality offered more functionality. It doesn't meet our needs for all of the approvals or approval flow we need. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We started using ThoughtFarmer as a different means of communication to cut down on emails being sent, which has happened. We also use it on our TVs throughout the office as a way to announce and share information and events (we have a scrolling ad / pictures setup on the home page). I also enjoyed the prompt, friendly customer support from the ThoughtFarmer team. TF's website is also packed with guidance for your intranet from the shopping phase, to how to successfully launch it, to day-to-day maintenance! However, what I like the most is the customer engagement aspect in that they understand the software is just a small component of a successful implementation. They are able to bring in a team to ensure the business processes are sound, such as proper governance, retention, authority for updates, etc. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** Home page customizations are not as granular as we would like and at the time of our implement, they did not have an in-house solution for automated workflow and electronic forms / signatures. However with their latest release, that may have changed. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of our sections was in desperate need of a good social-based knowledge management platform to share information in a variety of disparate formats. The search functionality was the most important feature when we moved over, and it doesn’t disappoint. This can make it hard to have open lines of communication creating a barrier for a preferred culture of transparency. Insert ThoughtFarmer and the social intranet! The ThoughtFarmer content management system is a lovable interface with powerful search capabilities that has created a truly valuable intranet for our organization. That said, the BEST thing about ThoughtFarmer was the value the team brought with their professional services - this is where you will get a truly well-organized and operational piece of software that staff will be able to navigate and contribute to ensure ongoing usability and updated content. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** ThoughtFarmer does everything we need it to do. From a marketing perspective, it would be good to have some form functionality built right into the software, however there are ways to embed third party forms right into ThoughtFarmer. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** As an organization in multiple locations, sharing a large number of processes and documents, we were trying to create a user-friendly interface to help people stay on top of communications, and be able to search for answers in ONE location with efficacy. There has been such a positive benefit to having one location with permission-based access to relevant information in one system. I especially enjoy the blog function and the ability to add blogs and link to pages from other parts of the intranet directly into the news on the front page. I like being able to add pictures to the thumbnails for links to pages. I like that I can @users to send out a shout out to them. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** I don't like that when transferring ownership of a page over to another owner, the next owner takes over the previous owner's comments and the comments look like they were made from the new owner when they were actually made by the previous owner. **Recommendations to others considering ThoughtFarmer:** Do it! It's such an easy one to use and learn. You can do a lot with it but you definitely need a designated person or two to be in charge of it. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the problem of lack of leadership staff communication. The build was a breeze and done in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost of a SharePoint site. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** We find the document management system a little clunky to use and a little slow. ThoughtFarmer's new Office 365 integration however, looks pretty sleek, so we may give that a try this year to see if the UX can be improved for documents. **Recommendations to others considering ThoughtFarmer:** Time savings in set up is worth the cost alone. For those looking to implement a de-centralized model, using ThoughtFarmer is a breeze for non-techies and content owners. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We really wanted to build a community for a disparate workforce and I feel that ThoughtFarmer has really helped to deliver this. We've got a growing community of users and commenters and have exponentially grown our user base from the old horrible SharePoint intranet we had prior. ### 23. We have been able to centralize communication throughout the organization using ThoughtFarmer and this has been one of the most helpful ways in which we have been able to use the platform. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** Sometimes the page formatting can seem a little bit limited. But the most difficult thing is posting media (photos and videos). The 100 MB cap is hard to work with sometimes and I wish there were a better "album" functionality. I would also like better calendar integration with the calendars on ThoughtFarmer and outlook. **Recommendations to others considering ThoughtFarmer:** We looked at many and this worked best. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Better cross departmental communication. Single Sign On. Super Support. Amazing Customer Service. Facebook is working on their own social Intranet @Work, but it pales in comparison (in our opinion) to the flexibility of ThoughtFarmer. From the initial sales overview all the way through implementation, ThoughtFarmer and the many amazing people there have always looked for ways to help us make our dreams for what our Intranet could be come to life. This platform plays nicely with our Active Directory, making it easy to onboard new employees and term any who leave. It's also easy to use, add/edit content, and design flourishes that match our brand. **What do you dislike about ThoughtFarmer?** There's very little to dislike, honestly. There have been some things we wished they had when we first signed up (custom templates, threaded comments, image libraries), but they have either added them without us asking as part of their roadmap OR added them because we asked in a Feature Request. They typically a major update, as well as a pretty significant additional update, every year, along with almost monthly builds that get deployed. **Recommendations to others considering ThoughtFarmer:** They have a number of clients in the education, healthcare, and financial industries and all of their software is SOC II compliant for those concerned about security. **What problems is ThoughtFarmer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking to replace our Sharepoint Intranet with something that people would actually login to, update information, share, collaborate, and work together. Sharepoint works fine for us to share documents, but no one is connecting or engaging in it. It is not a place where people start their day or look for information that helps them do their job. Our company saw multiple acquisitions on mergers in a short period of time and ThoughtFarmer helped us re-establish and redefine our company culture. We have a workforce that is 50% remote ThoughtFarmer has helped us stay connected. ### 45. The embedding with google can make things easier BUT it can be difficult to get the coding correct so that it fits in the page the way you need it.
