"Useful for viewing client accts and for quotes"

What do you like best?

I appreciate all of the different screens--it is easy to toggle between for different views of the client account. I appreciate the ability to view news related to stock quotes and think that the trading screens are very user friendly. It is also nice that you can access statements, 1099s, and other acct documents right form the client acct. I think the eQuest service is very well done and it is a very streamlined process to open accounts or transfer accounts.

What do you dislike?

I wish the dashboard service was easier to pull up and that there was a way to add a note directly to the account without having to pull up the dashboard service. That would make this service more consolidated and efficient. Also, it would be nice if there was a way to search for an account by filtering just to the branch rather than specific rep codes. Right now we have to filter by specific rep codes and it's not very efficient.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a really good product, in my opinion. They continue to make improvements that make it easier to use, which I appreciate.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It allows us to view client information all in one place and to quickly and efficiently execute trades. It also allows the advisors to review the client information in an efficient manner and to easily see the realized gains or losses.

"Thomson Reuters Eiokon"

What do you like best?

Thomson Reuters Eikon is a powerful tool that has relevant and easy to interpret analytics dashboards. The information is timely and dynamic. I also like how I can access this platform through my mobile phone.

What do you dislike?

I do not really dislike anything for the most part. Sometimes it can be slow, but that is a problem with most similar platforms. Maybe another thing I dislike is how the user interface is not super intuitive, there is slight training or it takes some time to get used to the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are deciding between Thomson Reuters or Bloomberg terminals consider industry standards, also consider training for employees, as most people have used Bloomberg over Thomson Reuter Eikon. Thus, takes time for new employees to get used to it. Industry standards would be the main concern, otherwise the information and platforms between the 2 biggest competitors (TR Eikon and Bloomberg) are fairly similar and provide the same infomration with the same ease of access (mobile, access the terminals remote from your laptop etc).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It provides financial information, all the exclusive news on financial markets and certain industries in one place. It consolidates information from all over the web into an easy to use platform that also does analysis. It also solves the problem of creating reports and analysis/ graphs on the financial markets. This makes it easier to use the data to come up with relevant information.

"Decent market and fundamental data"

What do you like best?

Eikon is a good option among providers including Bloomberg and Factset. The dashboard is pretty flexible allowing the user to create custom views and layouts. The data seems good.

What do you dislike?

I was a long-time Baseline user. I didn't like that we were forced to move from Baseline to Thomson One to Eikon. It's lousy to have the product you like phased out and have to go through the learning curve of learning the "new" product.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Worth a trial and comparison against Bloomberg and Factset.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Eikon provides a unified place to access financial information, news, and quotes. It's good for running screens, fundamental research, and analytics on portfolios and individual issues.

"Good resource but need searching skills to locate information"

What do you like best?

It has all the updated and most current accounting regulation and CPE courses for professional accountants in the public accounting industry to use. So it is a good resource for accountants to look for regulations and good tool to keep continuous professional learning.

What do you dislike?

The only downside is that you will need some advanced searching skills to find the regulation you need. But I would not blame this to the product. The regulation database is huge and organized in its own way and will require some searching skills anyway. I think any similar products or software will have the same problem. There is just no easy way to find a specific information.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a decent software supported by a big firm that are used by a lot of people.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Regulation search and continuous professional learning

"Multi-asset analytics but poor interface"

What do you like best?

TR have a robust amount of data on securities in the multi-asset space. as such, if we need to analyse securities we can count on accurate data including up to date prices

What do you dislike?

the interface is very difficult to use and is very different from any other. it is also hard to convert these data into a form we can use in external applications such as excel

Recommendations to others considering the product

to be honest i would consider alternate analytics providers. if you need to use it, use it sparingly for things like up to date prices and maybe utilise these data for external applications

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

we need analytics for our multi-asset portfolios and eikon provides that

"Good product, more intuitive than Bloomberg but not as widely used"

What do you like best?

Thomson Eikon is a strong competitor in the desktop terminal space when compared to Bloomberg and FactSet. It's modular nature and ability to add functionality makes it flexible. It is somewhat more intuitive to use and if you've used ThomsonOne you'll quickly pick this up. The mobile app could be better though.

What do you dislike?

The mobile app could be better and it would be great if it had a better, more google like and intuitive transcript/research search feature (similar to Sentieo or Alphasense). Support could be better, it's nowhere near as good as Bloomberg and a not quite as good as Factset.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I'm sure many of these purchasing decisions are driven by price, but to the extent possible ask your team what they prefer.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The need for financial data and access to sellside research. It's provided these services as expected.

"Superior to Bloomberg in terms of functionality and price."

What do you like best?

The bond analytics are equivalent to those provided by the "other" industry heavyweight (and at a fraction of the cost). The customer service is amazing. The user interface is very modern compared to many of the solutions in this space. I also like seeing the various market commentaries.

What do you dislike?

The search functionality can be a bit clunky at times.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Eikon offers the majority of what Bloomberg offers, and at a fraction of the cost.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I leverage the bond analytics and the real-time bond prices most extensively. I also use the economic data monitor.

"Eikon tells you everything and anything about the market"

What do you like best?

The length and breadth of information,m and data available is just amazing! Its updated very quickly as well

What do you dislike?

The only thing i disliked is the size of the application! Considering the kind of information available, it tends to tequire high storage space

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Using it to study the market, getting up to minute information and having this all at a tap on the phone

What do you like best?

The access to realtime data and the excel addin.

What do you dislike?

The cost is still a bit pricey for a small shop, but better than the competition.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to stay on top of our investments ourselves, rather than having to wait and rely on reports from our investment advisers. We can answer questions faster.
