Writing individual notes is easy and linked directly to your schedule. The schedule can also be linked to your Google or Apple calendar, so you can view availability without having to log in to a computer. The To-Do list provides reminders of paperwork updates (treatment plans, consents, etc), so I no longer have to track that on paper. The billing system seems to work relatively well, though I use a contractor (Practice Solutions) for that so have no direct experience with the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Group notes are a pain - there is no way to fill in the intervention for all notes at the same time, so I have to copy and paste from Word. I would like to be able to separate my "ToDo" list into notes and admin tasks, but there is currently no way to do this. The scheduling feature can be slow to update, so after you make an appointment it takes a while to appear on the screen,. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With Therapy Notes, you can have everything in one place such as mail, billing, notes, client information, and so much more. I believe they have a more modern look compared to competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's not much I do not like. It's very simple and straight to the point. I haven't had any issues with sections not working. Everything is detailed and has tabs so you can easily locate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Amount of information available re: patient info Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Inability to keep additional tabs open for same patient Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Therapy Notes quickly feels like something you have used before and is quick to pick up in terms of its nuances. It has an appearance that feels like could be part of a Microsoft product which may add to the familiarity notion. The cloud-based approach is nice, and there are plenty of things to keep you organized - file folders, calendars, and contacts, to name a few. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It doesn't feel very inventive or that you can do a lot of advanced things if you want to. For instance, there isn't a lot built into it for forms - you would have to upload documents instead of customizing or using existing fields. There could also be more automation built in. Excellent customer support that is available and responsive by phone and also email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some things are not customizable as much as I want (the notes template, the assessment template, the automated email reminders) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

TherapyNotes is incredibly user-friendly, sleek, and efficient as compared to other EHR platforms I have used in the past. There are very few unnecessary details included in the forms and allow a mental health clinician such as myself to include only pertinent information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found any aspects of TherapyNotes that I dislike at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The system is very intuitive and generally easy to use. The billing features are robust and the user interface is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No ability to customize forms within Therapy Notes - must use external PDFs that have to be uploaded once completed. There are four pre-made forms that are available to use for collecting important intake information without having to use separate documents or PDFs but there is little to no ability to customize the questions (especially for the client history form).
There is also no way to differentiate a child patient from an adult patient, which affects what information needs to be collected and the wording of questions in the forms.
There is also no direct messaging option within the patient portal.
When patients are able to request rescheduling of their appointments through the portal, there is no way to control what time slots are available - the patient can literally select any time (9:23 am, for example) for a service as long as there is a length of time available that corresponds to the service selected (i.e., any 45 minute opening throughout the day is available for 90834). This can affect scheduling of other patients if a non-standard time is requested (if the practice schedules patients on the hour but someone requests an appointment starting at a different time, it makes it difficult to schedule someone directly before or after them) and requires additional communication with the patient, which is what the system was designed to minimize. There should be an option to indicate available appointment slots that a patient can choose from. The only work around I have found is to insert a break for the last 10 minutes of every hour, but that is cumbersome and clogs up the calendar visible to clinicians and administrators. I use Therapynotes regularly and whenever I have an issue (which is rarely) the customer support has been extremely helpful. I think every time they've solved the issue with one email and know exactly what I'm talking about. I appreciate the company's focus on the personal experience and value of employing people that know their product thoroughly. It makes my job so much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would appreciate being able to choose the note format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
