TherapyNotes continues to improve and expand. They have added AI documentation, enhanced outcome measures, secondary billing and more. It is user friendly, and even allows for custom notes. Generally it is functioning well and they provide updates when there are software issues. The pricing is fair when compared to other EHRs for Private Practice on the market. TherapyNotes needs to improve on their integrations with other software such as Google Workspace, Quickbooks etc. It would also be beneficial if more reporting was available. I really find TherapyNotes valuable because of its record-keeping capability and simple case notes feature. Additionally, its connection to claims processing is critical for our clinic's workflow, particularly for our 30 therapists and 7 staff. I also appreciated that the initial setup was easy. I like that therapy notes is organized in a way that things are easy to find and input as long as you have all the necessary info to input. Therapynotes is great to have multiple clinicians input their notes and also a great way for care coordinators to get the info that is needed and the info can be searched and looked up by anyone at any time which is useful if the assigned clinician is out of office or is busy, someone else can easily pick up without asking the client repetitive info. Therapy Notes quickly feels like something you have used before and is quick to pick up in terms of its nuances. It has an appearance that feels like could be part of a Microsoft product which may add to the familiarity notion. What do you dislike about TherapyNotes? It doesn't feel very inventive or that you can do a lot of advanced things if you want to. For instance, there isn't a lot built into it for forms - you would have to upload documents instead of customizing or using existing fields. There could also be more automation built in. The system is very intuitive and generally easy to use. The billing features are robust and the user interface is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about TherapyNotes? No ability to customize forms within Therapy Notes - must use external PDFs that have to be uploaded once completed. There are four pre-made forms that are available to use for collecting important intake information without having to use separate documents or PDFs but there is little to no ability to customize the questions (especially for the client history form). There is also no way to differentiate a child patient from an adult patient, which affects what information needs to be collected and the wording of questions in the forms. There is also no direct messaging option within the patient portal. When patients are able to request rescheduling of their appointments through the portal, there is no way to control what time slots are available - the patient can literally select any time (9:23 am, for example) for a service as long as there is a length of time available that corresponds to the service selected (i.e., any 45 minute opening throughout the day is available for 90834). This can affect scheduling of other patients if a non-standard time is requested (if the practice schedules patients on the hour but someone requests an appointment starting at a different time, it makes it difficult to schedule someone directly before or after them) and requires additional communication with the patient, which is what the system was designed to minimize. There should be an option to indicate available appointment slots that a patient can choose from. The only work around I have found is to insert a break for the last 10 minutes of every hour, but that is cumbersome and clogs up the calendar visible to clinicians and administrators. Recommendations to others considering TherapyNotes: The user interface is more intuitive and prettier than Simple Practice (at least when I tried it in 2019). However, Simple Practice has more options for customizing forms and communicating with patients. I did find Therapy Notes to be simpler for psychological assessment than Simple Practice.
