"Effortless Text Management, Time Saver"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

I use TextExpander for customizing email responses and storing data that I use regularly. It really helps with time consumption, as I spend less time looking for data or coming up with a reply. It's easy to use because once data is saved with abbreviations, typing the abbreviations quickly expands to the full text I need. It's very user friendly, and I could learn to use it myself and navigate it easily. It's easy to set up and start using, which is important to me. I also incorporate it with Zendesk for easy use in daily tasks at work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Time Saver with Easy Customization"

What do you like best about TextExpander?

I love how TextExpander saves me a ton of time when writing emails, both in typing and in finding information like phone numbers and addresses. It's free, and the unlimited use is amazing for me, as I can customize the shortcuts to my liking. Since I help customers across 50+ locations, being able to create as many snippets as I need without any limit is incredibly useful. The initial setup was very easy, and it's easy to download and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

Some glitches happen occasionally, like about once a day I’ll type in a snippet and instead of bringing that text up, it’ll paste what I’ve most recently copied on my computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlines Responses, Needs Save Function Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

I use TextExpander for verbiage shortcuts that help with my job, allowing me to swiftly enter responses I use often throughout the day. I like that the text pops up quickly with shortcuts we have predetermined, and I also appreciate being able to edit my shortcuts at any point. The popup window is convenient for filling in the blanks of what we have pre-dedicated. The initial setup was very simple, which made starting to use TextExpander a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

The box does not always save my information, so I have to enter the information again. Sometimes I cannot utilize the function at all if I want. Working on correcting bugs, or warning about updates prior to deactivating access to the function. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amy Schwartz of TextExpander

We're thrilled that TextExpander is helping you save time and boost your productivity, Mary. Thanks for your review!

"Effortless Automation That Saves Time and Prevents Typos"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

I love the ease of use (very user-friendly, simple to set up new macros and manage existing ones), saves me a TON of time and also gives me assurance that I don't have typos in my email correspondence and other typed documents. I also love that I can use it across multiple devices - that's incredibly helpful as I have two that I use for work and I appreciate not having to pay for two licenses.

The program was simple to install, opens and runs seamlessly in the background while I work, and works across all of my programs (another great advantage over setting up macros individually in every program I use).

Customer service is exceptional - the limited number of times I've had issues, I got an immediate response from a very helpful customer service team. I use TextExpander every day in my law practice and I recommend it to people all the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TextExpander?

As a user of TextExpander for over 12 years, I can say that's such a time saver. From being able to save my repetitive work such as weekly emails to being able to just some simple auto correct of commonly misspelled words, it's easily one of the most important tools that I use on a daily basis. What do you dislike about TextExpander?

I do wish that they had better formatting options for tables and I wish they had the ability to have responses to a snippet impact what a user sees next. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Huge timesaver from having to write out the same info again and again"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

* It's easy to create snippets and they become available in real time. No waiting.

* I love how I can use the snippets anywhere, there are no borders. I just have to make sure the application is on.

* Love how I can create a template and have it prompt me for the fields to input. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

*Some folk will create a snippet by using a common word and you'll be typing something somewhere and in mid-thought and a random snippet will paste itself. Those throw me for a loop when it happens. But I just go in, and will add a symbol before the word and problem solved.

* Sometimes when you a templated snipped and it's asking you to enter in the data fields, you'll finish and hit save, but it won't insert, so you have to do it again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An Essential Productivity Tool for Eliminating Repetitive Typing"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

I love how TextExpander works seamlessly across all my devices (Mac and iOS). My favorite feature is the ability to create "fill-in-the-blank" snippets. This allows me to use a standard template for emails or code but still customize specific details (like a client's name or a date) without breaking my flow. The sync speed is excellent, meaning a snippet I save on my desktop is immediately available on my laptop. It essentially functions as a "second brain" that remembers complex links and details so I don't have to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

The move to a subscription-only model is the main downside compared to the older standalone versions. For a utility that runs in the background, the monthly recurring cost can feel a bit steep if you aren't tracking your time savings. Additionally, the learning curve for advanced features—like using JavaScript or AppleScript within snippets—can be high for non-technical users. Sometimes the formatting (bold/italics) doesn't paste perfectly into every single application, requiring minor adjustments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Essential for streamlining small business ops as a solopreneur"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

As a small business owner, I use TextExpander to streamline operations. I'm using it consistently for tasks like applying brand colors with saved hex codes for graphic design consistency, pre-loaded emails for different stages of lead generation, or socializing links to specific offers depending on where a direct message conversation leads. I especially love the TextExpander keyboard for iOS which allows me to keep my snippets available on the go. My most frequent use is currently for easily maintaining the website ecosystem and building brand awareness. The fact that links and rich text formatting is preserved is a super nice touch to avoid hardly any formatting cleanup before sending messages. I can stay focused on proofing the message itself and spending my energy making it personal even with TextExpander containerizing the bones of the message. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

It's a utility so I'm not sure how much you can expect. I love what it does and feel like it pays for itself quickly by reducing cognitive load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Essential Tool for Reducing Repetitive Tasks"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

TextExpander has become one of my daily essentials because it removes so many small, repetitive tasks from my workload. The ease of creating and organizing snippets makes it incredibly efficient, and the learning curve is almost nonexistent. I love that it works seamlessly across applications, which means I can use my shortcuts whether I’m answering emails, completing forms, or documenting account notes. The ability to use fill-ins, optional fields, and date stamps lets me build smart templates that save significant time. It has genuinely streamlined my workflow and reduced the mental clutter that comes from typing the same things over and over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

My only real challenge is remembering the short codes I’ve created, especially when I build a lot of snippets at once. The tool itself works well; I just need to train my brain to use my shortcuts more consistently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amy Schwartz of TextExpander

Thanks so much for leaving a review! We're pleased to hear TextExpander is improving your productivity and saving you time, Nicole.

If you have a hard time remembering your abbreviations, try using inline search. It allows you to search through your Snippets from your cursor.

The shortcuts for inline search are:

macOS: Command + /

Windows: Control + /

Chrome: Control + Period
