TestGorilla presents itself as a transparent, customer-friendly product, but the reality is very different. The pricing and checkout flow are deeply misleading. What looks and feels like a monthly subscription turns out to be a locked-in annual contract, split into monthly charges — a distinction that is not clearly or responsibly communicated to users. Once you realize this and try to cancel, you hit a wall. Refunds are not an option AS A COMPANY POLICY. They literally force you to use their product(which rarely used as you'd like). I’ve since discovered I’m far from alone — many users online report the exact same issue: sudden surprise in billing, trying to cancel, and being refused outright. If you’re considering TestGorilla: *Read every line of the checkout very carefully** * Assume there is no flexibility, no goodwill, and no customer advocacy * Understand that once they have your card, you’re locked in — whether you use the product or not There are plenty of alternatives in this space. I strongly recommend choosing a company that values transparency, ethics, and long-term trust over aggressive billing tactics. Although I haven't fully tested the entire platform, something else I also find interesting is features like webcam snapshots and IP address logging. In the areas of pricing, I feel pricing can be lenient for small companies. 2. You can create custom questions, but some users feel that certain test modules (particularly for coding) could have much more realistic or advanced options. 3. When I tried to cancel my subscription, I couldn't find the section, unlike on other platforms. It worsened when I couldn't log in anymore, and the system auto-renewed my yearly subscription. I had to reach out via email to ask for cancellation, and they said they can't cancel the account. Even after that, I still don't have login access. They failed to understand the main issue and provide solutions. So many candidates are unable to start the test on time, and it has heavy time pressure on students. The UI and support team could be improved. This review template is systematically what's wrong with the philosophy of the company - it requires a minimum of characters in this field rather than leaving blank or a simple response. Phishing for compliments. **What do you dislike about TestGorilla?** Tried using it as part of company recruiting processes, including screening and skills questionnaires. You can't get rid of the Test Gorilla branding, which is terrible. The service is always remarketing itself to your end users, which is terrible. The email invites always get flagged as spam, which is terrible. When integrated with Greenhouse, it only returned summary scores, not the individual answers. Not very useful. And, it's expensive. Replaced it with Microsoft Forms and a Power Automate for 1/10 the annual license fee. **What problems is TestGorilla solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tried using. Very dissappointing experience **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Pınar A. | Human Resources Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2025 **What do you like best about TestGorilla?** It is an easy-to-use assessment platform. **What do you dislike about TestGorilla?** "The technical tasks are not good enough to assess the candidates' skills, customer service is not helpful, and the terrible company policy regarding the annual payment plan" One of the main reasons we chose Test Gorilla was to create tasks for technical roles. However, over time, I’ve realized that the tasks on the platform don’t quite meet our expectations and are unable to fully assess our candidate's technical skills. They are either too simple or too difficult. Considering all of this, we have decided not to use the platform in our hiring process in 2025 and to return to our own assessment methods. Since we didn’t cancel the subscription, the annual package was renewed. After contacting them within 1-2 hours to say that we didn’t wish to use the product, we requested a refund for the subscription fee. However, our refund request was rejected. Despite repeatedly stating that we will not be using their platform, they are refusing to refund our payment. There are many ways the accomplish this so this is a warning to others potentially trying out their software, either keep away, or read all of the T&C carefully. Otherwise, like me and many people I know in the startup space, you'll end up paying hundreds of dollars a month with no way to cancel. I even tried cancelling my CC and couldn't get them to stop charging my card. I called them, and appealed, but nothing worked.
