As a penetration tester there were times that I had to perform operating system compliance reviews manually. To do that you have to go through all the documented details in benchmarks to get a crystal clear idea before even executing the given command. Reading issue details on over 500+ pages (most of the time) repetitively is a waste of time . Because of the tool 'Nessus' we can just pass the parameters and actually can let our focus on other operations. Nessus will do the job without any trouble. Incontrovertibly, nessus is the number one performer in discovering assets, sensitive data /malware detection,OS/database/mobile apps/web apps/network devices/tablets/hypervisors vulnerability scanning. It's worth to mention the amazing report creation feature of nessus which helped me to identify the critical levels of the vulnerabilities easily. Price of nessus is too much considering the tools in the same domain. Nessus is susceptible to produce false positives and because of that the testers need to put more effort and time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Nessus vulnerability scanner from Tenable offers excellent vulnerability and compliance scanning coverage. The API offers good flexibility for developing custom solutions. Coupled with other Tenable products, such as Tenable.io, SecurityCenter, or NessusManager provides centralized management and reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nessus on its own is a solid product but does require some customization of the settings to run more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nessus is one of the most straightforward tools available to handle VMS operations.
Low budget enterprise tool which every organization can afford.
Nessus VA scan covers all standard network devices like endpoint, servers, network devices, virtualization platforms as well as a cloud environment.
They provide plugins for every vulnerability and can scan with authenticated or unauthenticated scans. It is straightforward to use, generates an excellent report (various options available to customize). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you compare Nessus to other VM tools like Nexpose or Qualys, Nessus has minimal features, and customization & Integration in Nessus is also not very helpful for organizations, where they need to customize their data set per their requirements.
Vulnerability fingerprinting also needs some enhancement. For some devices like Cisco, it flagged the exposure based on the iOS version running on the target machine but not based on the vulnerable configuration present on the device. Which further needs manual assessment to validate if the fingerprinted vulnerability is false positive or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are using Nessus for network device vulnerability assessment & Server security assessment as well. Nessus provides easy-to-scan devices with IP Scan options in their Web-based GUI platform. We need to add the widgets in the Nessus platform & create inventory & Nessus works accordingly. One of the benefits of using Nessus is providing the most security compliance such as HIPPA, PCI-DSS. Nessus provides us real-time vulnerability assessment reports with remediation point details to quickly remediate the loopholes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only issue we sometimes face we Nessus due to multiple IPs assigned to a single device then Nessus always choose the master IP. It will be good to provide an option where we can multiple IP target points for a single device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
