## About Tempo
Founded in 2009, Tempo Software is a Jira-native platform for strategic portfolio management, built to help organizations keep strategy, budgets, and delivery aligned as human and AI teams work side by side. Tempo brings together three product lines — Tempo, Strategic Roadmaps, and Structure PPM — into one connected system. Tempo is used by more than 30,000 companies, including one in three Fortune 500 organizations. Tempo's suite of solutions covers the full range of portfolio work, from individual projects to enterprise-wide programs: - Time tracking and financial management tools for logging hours, tracking costs, and managing budgets, capital expense, and operating expense across projects - Capacity and resource planning tools that show team availability, workload, and skill sets in real time, synced directly with Jira sprint data - Portfolio and program management tools that visualize multiple Jira projects, programs, and portfolios in a single, customizable view - Roadmapping tools that create shareable, audience-specific roadmaps for executives, product teams, and customers - Reporting and data visualization tools, including no-code dashboards, Gantt charts, and connectors for BigQuery, Tableau, and Power BI Organizations use Tempo to catch strategic drift before it compounds — the gap that opens up when plans, budgets, and delivery fall out of sync, especially as AI agents take on more work without filing a single status report. Instead of relying on quarterly planning cycles or scattered spreadsheets, planning and portfolio leaders get real-time visibility into where time, budget, and capacity are actually going, so adjustments happen before small gaps turn into missed deadlines or blown budgets.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tempo is helping me track time on task, so I don't lose where my hours go. Before I was guessing work time, now it's more clear and simple. It also connects with Jira so I don’t need to switch tools again and again. This is saving me some time and makes reporting work easier.

It ends up costing more when we have to buy additional Tempo products. When I’m working with large amounts of data, the reports become slow. I also still have to log time manually, since full automation is missing.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps fix time-tracking issues in Jira when teams don’t track time properly, because project costs, billing, and overall progress can take a hit. It removes the hassle of manual logging and lets me split paid and unpaid hours so the reports come out correctly. I use it to spot wasted time and make data-based decisions.

 ### 7. Powerful Budgeting Features, Steep Learning Curve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel S. | Customer Service Representative, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I find Tempo helpful in managing project budget and resourcing easily in sheets. The Tempo Budgets feature is great for fulfilling all the gaps between business owners and the technical team. It makes it very easy for me to solve accountability and control issues. I appreciate how it enables decisions to be made based on data-driven insights. The budget feature is also beneficial in connecting the finance and work team together, managing spending as per the company's budget.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Its UI is not simple and no one can set it up easily. Non-technical employees require proper time for training, even though integration with Jira is a good option. An auto log feature would be handy for suggesting us activities and time entries. Initial setup is not easy and professional assistance is always required.

 ### 8. Simple Dashboards and Live Reports with Deep Jira Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam R. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It links sheets to projects, people, and budgets, and we can pull live reports to make quick calls. The layout is simple, we can set up our own dashboards, and it connects deeply with Jira. It quickly shows cost splits, who’s free to work, and profit.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The license cost feels high for small teams. The setup is tricky, and new users often get confused when trying to use it. Reports can be customized, but it takes a lot of time to understand how, and customer support is also too slow to respond.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It fixed the biggest issues in project work: tracking time and managing clients. Before, teams were basically guessing, so budgets went off and deadlines slipped. Tempo gives real numbers and clearly shows the backlog, overtime, and when we’re short-staffed. Because of this, tasks finish on time, we stay within budget, and we save time overall.

It helps me track my work hours easily and keeps everything in one place, so I no longer lose track of time. The reports clearly show where my time goes, which makes my workflow simpler and more organized.

 ### 11. Excellent Jira integration and reporting, but configuration can be complex

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elon E. | Chef de projet Conformité - V.I.E (Luxembourg), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

What I liked most about Tempo Timesheets is how seamlessly it integrates with Jira. In practice, logging time becomes part of the daily workflow rather than an additional administrative task. I also found the reporting very useful to understand where time is being spent across projects and to improve resource allocation. For teams managing multiple workstreams, having this visibility is a real advantage.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Some reporting and configuration options can feel more complex than they need to be. New users may need time to understand the different settings, and costs can increase significantly as the number of users grows.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding where time is actually being spent. In practice, it provides much better visibility on workload, project effort, and resource allocation across teams. This makes it easier to identify bottlenecks, improve planning, and track project costs more accurately. For managers, the reporting also supports better decision-making by giving a clear view of team capacity and project performance without relying on manual spreadsheets.

 ### 12. Customizable and Insightful, But Needs Performance Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan P. | Direct Recruiter - Technology & Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like Tempo's fully customizable design, which provides modular value and helps in understanding data insights quickly. I enjoy its adjustable dashboard with custom charts, which converts portfolio data into useful insights. It is very valuable for us because it converts raw Jira data into actionable insights for our team. Also, the initial setup isn't as complex as it seems, and technical users can easily get a grip on it.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

While handling large data, its performance is slow and lags during the process; this problem seems to need solving for perfect use.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tempo helps us manage projects with Jira, adapt plans quickly, and convert outdated plans. Its adjustable dashboard and charts make raw data into actionable insights, and its design is customizable for modular value.

 ### 13. Detailed Time Tracking and Collaboration, But Setup Can Be Confusing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George S. | Database Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like its time-tracking feature, which provides complete details about logged hours and the exact time we connect, along with priorities. All our projects are laid out in a clear interface where we can collaborate on them and tailor our work to our business goals.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The interface I don't like because it is very confusing to setup and sometimes when we switch between multiple pages it stuck and we cant go to exact page.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us full visibility into the progress, costs, and resource planning across multiple projects, which helps us make smarter decisions and improve productivity. Before using it, we struggled with raw data and manual reporting, which was time-consuming. Now, its time tracking makes everything much easier for us.

 ### 14. Simple Dashboard: Full Infrastructure Visibility & Efficient Team Resource Allocation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia K. | Cybersecurity Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like its dashboard most because it is very simple and provides an overview of our project's entire infrastructure. Another thing I appreciate is its resource allocation, which lets me monitor the whole team — who is working on which task and their working hours.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

In my personal experience, the navigation system is a bit difficult to operate, and the reporting system does not provide complete data reports, which makes it harder to do my work.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem is poor resource allocation, which is easily addressed by its resource planner. Estimating project timelines was disrupted because some employees reported their hours incorrectly, which threw off our budget; in that case, time tracking provides accurate data about employees' working time.

 ### 15. Accurate Jira Time Tracking with AI Suggestions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Masood A. | Account Executive, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It makes time tracking much easier in Jira, and with the AI suggestions we can track work hours more accurately. The reports show overall project progress and also help us with budgeting. We can manage workflow approvals as well, which helps improve productivity.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The prices are too expensive for small industries, and the setup has a bit of a learning curve. The interface looks a little outdated, and the mobile app doesn’t provide a real-time experience for tracking project time.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using it, we made mistakes by entering time manually and missed some entries, which made our billing inaccurate. This problem is easily solved with its Jira integration, and with better project visibility, performance can be managed much more easily.

 ### 16. Powerful Jira time tracking with room to improve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

What I like most about Tempo Timesheets is how seamlessly it integrates with Jira, so time tracking feels like a natural part of the work instead of a separate chore. Being able to log time directly against the issues I’m already working on reduces context switching and keeps everything aligned with real project progress.

The weekly timesheet view is especially helpful. It provides a clear, structured snapshot of logged hours across days and tasks, which makes it much faster to review entries and fix mistakes. From a manager’s perspective, the approval workflow is straightforward and supports accountability without creating unnecessary overhead.

On the reporting side, Tempo offers solid visibility into team capacity and how time is allocated across projects. I regularly use the filters and reports to break down time by project or by user, which helps with resource planning and spotting bottlenecks. This has improved transparency across the team and made it easier to explain timelines and effort to stakeholders.

In terms of UI/UX, it isn’t perfect, but the interface is consistent and becomes efficient once you get used to it. Performance has also been dependable; even with larger datasets, reports generally load at a reasonable speed.

One unexpected benefit is how useful the data has been for forecasting and billing. Having structured, accurate time logs has made internal reporting and client billing much clearer and more transparent.

Overall, Tempo delivers the most value in environments that already rely on Jira, where its integration, reporting capabilities, and approval workflows noticeably strengthen time-tracking discipline and operational visibility.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

While Tempo Timesheets is powerful, there are a few areas where it could be improved.

From a UI/UX perspective, the interface can feel unintuitive, especially for new users. Certain actions—like editing past entries, navigating between teams, or locating specific reports—require multiple clicks and aren’t always where you expect them to be. This increases the learning curve and can slow down both individual contributors and managers during reviews.

Reporting, while flexible, can also be somewhat complex to configure. Creating customized reports or filters often takes trial and error, and it’s not always clear how to get the exact data view you need. Simplifying report building or providing more guided templates would make this much more efficient.

In terms of integrations, although the Jira integration is strong, connections with external tools (like calendars or other work management platforms) can feel limited or inconsistent. For example, syncing data doesn’t always translate cleanly into actionable timesheet entries without manual adjustments.

Performance is generally stable, but there are occasional slowdowns when loading larger datasets or generating detailed reports, which can interrupt workflow—especially during peak review times.

From a pricing/ROI standpoint, Tempo can become relatively expensive as team size grows, particularly for smaller teams or organizations that may not use its full feature set. A more flexible pricing model or feature-based tiers could make it more accessible.

Support and onboarding are decent, but the initial setup—especially around permissions, teams, and workflows—can be complex. Clearer onboarding guidance or more interactive setup assistance would help teams get up to speed faster.

Regarding AI/intelligence, while features like auto-suggestions based on calendar data are helpful, they still feel somewhat basic. There’s an opportunity to expand this further—for example, smarter recommendations based on historical work patterns, anomaly detection in time logs, or more proactive insights to help managers during reviews.

Overall, Tempo Timesheets is a robust tool, but improving usability, simplifying reporting, and enhancing intelligent automation would significantly elevate the user experience.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tempo Timesheets primarily solves the challenge of accurately tracking and managing time within a Jira-based workflow. Before using Tempo, time tracking was either inconsistent or handled in separate tools, which led to gaps in data, manual reconciliation, and limited visibility into how time was actually spent across projects.

By integrating directly with Jira, Tempo ensures that time logging is tied to real work items. This has significantly improved data accuracy and reduced the need for manual follow-ups with team members. As a result, we now have a reliable, centralized view of effort across tasks, projects, and teams.

One of the biggest benefits is improved visibility for both team leads and stakeholders. Managers can easily review timesheets, monitor workload distribution, and identify under- or over-utilization. This has helped us make better resource allocation decisions and avoid bottlenecks.

Tempo also streamlines the approval process. Instead of chasing timesheets via email or spreadsheets, everything is managed in one place with clear workflows. This has reduced administrative overhead and improved compliance with internal reporting requirements.

From a business perspective, the reporting capabilities have been particularly valuable. We use Tempo data for project tracking, forecasting, and in some cases billing. Having accurate time data has improved estimation accuracy and made it easier to justify timelines and costs to stakeholders.

Overall, Tempo Timesheets has helped us move from fragmented, manual time tracking to a more structured and data-driven approach, resulting in better planning, increased accountability, and more efficient operations.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It always provides real-time visibility into financial data, which helps me track costs and profits across my project portfolios. I can also manage the entire project timeline from a single spreadsheet, which wasn’t as easy to do before.

At times, it runs slowly, and we’ve also encountered technical issues during the initial setup. New employees need a full introduction and some training to be able to use it properly.

**Reviewed by:** Mike L. | Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I can accurately track the time our team spends on tasks, and planning upcoming projects also helps balance our workload. The strong integration with Jira provides instant sync and fits smoothly into our Jira workflow.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Its functionality depends heavily on Timesheets, and buying the full ecosystem is very expensive. It should work on its own to be more cost-effective.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It transforms all of our effort into clear resource and project data, which helps enhance transparency. Managing multiple projects and portfolios has always been a big challenge for our team, but Tempo makes it much easier to handle.

 ### 23. Comprehensive Time Tracking and Real-Time Reporting with Strong Integrations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia M. | Senior Account Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Its comprehensive time-tracking features and real-time reporting help us monitor project status and performance. The best part is its integration, which keeps us engaged with multiple finance sources.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Since it’s a customizable tool, it also comes with some limitations. One of them is that the dashboard isn’t fully adjustable, which may affect productivity when managing a project portfolio.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing multiple accounts has always been complex for me, but this makes it easier to handle several accounts for finance and investment. It also addresses data analysis, which helps boost project performance on the go.

 ### 24. Powerful Portfolio Planning with Room for Usability Improvements

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noah K. | Associate, Data Solutions, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like the portfolio planning portion of Tempo. It works really well with Jira because the portfolio data stays connected to underlying work.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The new additions to the software are sometimes very complex and hard to learn, making it less user-friendly.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Tempo for portfolio management, solving the challenge of alpha and portfolio construction. It excels in portfolio planning and integrates well with Jira, keeping data connected to underlying work.

 ### 25. Useful for Daily Time Tracking

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Habeel C. | SQA Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Useful in logging time spent day to day jobs

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Repetitiveness in logging same tasks for each day, made somewhat easier via duplicate function but still repetitive per day

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solves issue of tracking time spent on specific tasks

 ### 26. Intuitive Interface, Great for Project Planning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil S. | Project Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like Tempo's intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface. The initial setup was easy to use, which made getting started with Tempo smooth.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

reporting customization could be more flexible

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Tempo for project planning and time tracking, which helps me plan resources and provides better visibility.

 ### 27. Excellent way to keep track of your team's time spending

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

In our professional projects we often need to provide time spent report to customers who require it. This reporting tool provides easy to read reports per project or per resources and fine grained permissions can be set to respect privacy issues.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The tool adds a panel. It is not aleays easy to set up its visibility to users accurately, and the existence of this panel with the native time tracking that comes eith Jira. So in case of previous data in existing projects it will take a lot of time to get the reports working correctly.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps keep our projects compliant with customer demanding in terms of time spending.

 ### 28. Easy to use and efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie C. | Business Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Tempo is very easy to use as it is integrated with your calendar and also User stories of Jira and places them in already for you to just click and implement. You can log in time as frequent as you want, but usually users do it once a week, and their managers approve it.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Nothing to add about this as it is well thought through

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves me alot of time for a task which does not add value to my work but it does to others.

 ### 29. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like the ease of use best, great for keeping track of the team's time. If your users are already added then it is pretty easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

There are known bugs and frequent outages.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping track billable customer work

 ### 30. Allows for manual time tracking for all JIRA users, followed by having some basic reporting tools.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashton S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Tempo allows you to handle teams of people and monthly approvals through the team leads and proxies.
It has the most needed configurations for reports, such as:
- the start of the period
- the length of the reporting period
- the ability to let people log time into the future or not

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Teams have to be manually managed. As staff joins, leaves and moves teams, you must maintain the team alignments.
Large organizations can have a large team count, which becomes challenging to maintain.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking time to specific projects, with the ability to report on the time per person spent. Allowing us to provide this to the accounting team for capitalization of the development costs of new software.

 ### 31. best at monitoring project status and how much hour into it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hamzeh R. | Quality assurance engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Track the whole team's hours that are put into the project, very precise as it's integrated with Jira tickets for the project

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Maybe add some details about how much time is left in blocked tickets for a certain project

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project cost tracking and easy monitor what the team worked on and how many hours they put into on that project

 ### 32. Simplicity is Tempo's biggest asset

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raul I. | Senior Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It's fast and intuitive. Logging time at the end of the day is quite easy due to its simple design. I spend less time logging time and more time working on issues.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Not being able to adjust some of the default behavior, such as the minimum time unit on the logged time suggestions. More control over the application-level settings would be great.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of hours spent on issues so they can be correlated with service agreements. I'm not in a position that requires time tracking for wages, so in my case it's a productivity loss, but I can see how it can help quite a bit in such cases.

 ### 33. Integrated into Jira but frustrating at times

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

The single best feature of Tempo is its deep integration into Jira. Having all our data for time tracking and billing our clients in the same system where we do project management is a must. We aren't power users, necessarily, but we have tried various of the advanced features from time to time. At the end of the day, time tracking against tickets and simple reporting are its primary purpose, and it does it well.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

We've experienced data loss issues in the past, and more than once we've been frustrated trying to find the right combination of permissions and team assignments to ensure people who need access to the data have it. It's also disappointing that historical timesheet entries disappear for users you remove from your Jira instance. We've ended up having to export our data for historical record keeping purposes to avoid any sort of accidental data loss.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our primary purpose is tracking time against tickets in client projects. Tempo is largely foolproof in this respect, and it's easy for project managers and are accounting team to bill the right client the right amount.

 ### 34. Tempo includes the features and integrations that I need

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt K. | Lead Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

We use Jira to manage our work, so Tempo was a natural choice for tracking our time. I use and appreciate the free version of Jira; whereas, tempo costs $100/year... we don't use Tempo for much more than time tracking, so I am tempted to look for free alternatives, but the price is relatively low, so it is not a top concern.

I use Tempo to generate monthly reports for our customers, and these reports were simple to configure given that Tempo is so closely integrated with Jira.

I use ManicTime to track my time, and I use the Tempo integration to automatically add my entries, so I don't actually use the Tempo GUI for much more than reports.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

As I mentioned, while I like Tempo and think it is a good value, I am aware of free alternatives.

I have to do some finagling to get reports to focus on what I think is important and it doesn't seem like I can pull in Jira's custom fields to the reports.

**Recommendations to others considering Tempo:**

If you need to integrate with Jira and/or you use ManicTime to track your time then (with a little set up) you can use Tempo to track your time without actually having to work in Tempo (using the ManicTime integration).

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We track our time spent on Jira tasks. We our primarily interested in tracking our time that is billable to our customers, but we also track non-billable work to fill in our day.

 ### 35. Very good idea but needs some UI/UX improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jhony M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It's great because enable my team and I to log all what we do on a daily basis. Each log is tied to a Jira ticket which makes easy to bill our customer at the end of the month.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

In one of the latest upgrades, the delete button can be triggered accidentally without any confirmation. I hate that. We have lost several logs due to this functionality.

**Recommendations to others considering Tempo:**

If your primary project management tool is Jira, then this product is for you. If this is not the case, I'd recommend considering other tools.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use timesheets for 2 purposes: 1) to log everything our team does and know if everyone worked the expected amount of hours. 2) To bill our customer at the end of the month. We pull the logs, exclude the non-billable, and go from there.

 ### 36. Project Manager responsible to time tracking and resource planning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina P. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

In the time entering window, I like that the information is pulled in directly from Jira, and the process is quick and straightforward. I also like the multiple view options - Timesheets, List, and Calendar.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The resource planning gets messy very quickly. I'm limited with sorting it and don't have the "Monthly" recurring option in the main view. Just in the timeline view which gets even messier. There should be a weekly view as well. not just weeks and weeks at a time

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time tracking is easier, reporting is easier, resource planning is easier but it's not quite there yet. The data gets easily skewed so that gets a little hard to manage

 ### 37. Tempo for Project Billable Hours Reports

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Tempo allows me to report on developer hours for an epic project, broken down by tasks. Tempo makes it easier to produce reports for billable hours at the end of a project.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

It would be great to see an additional time filter for "anytime" since projects can go on for long periods or go on hold and then get picked back up months or years later. I don't want to figure out when the time frame of an epic project began. I want to choose an epic project and get the total logged hours.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tempo has saved me hours at the end of epic development projects by allowing me to pull together developer hours in one report quickly and easily. I spent hours and days on the reports I can now do in minutes. Tempo is a time saver!

 ### 38. Full-featured time tracking with just a few drawbacks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

As far as time tracking in Jira is concerned, Tempo is fantastic. It tracks time in issues efficiently and provides detailed analysis. Additionally, it works well with Jira's estimation; automatically subtracting time from estimates upon submitting work logs. It can also link work logs to commits in Bitbucket. I found the CSV export to be valuable in preserving records or providing clients proof for my invoices. It's gotten me out of two tricky situations. There is a mobile app as well (read my dislikes for more feedback on it).

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The reason I stopped using it is that I was basically forced off of self-hosted Jira by Atlassian's decision to stop supporting those instances. As a result, I tried to migrate my self-hosted Tempo records to the cloud but this was so difficult it appeared impossible while working full time on projects for income. In the end, I switched to TMetric and found it was difficult to import Tempo time tracking into TMetric. I was able to enter total amounts but I'd have to add time tracking logs day by day manually. The mobile app was not so useful in the end because I couldn't stop a time log from it if I forgot to on the machine on which I started tracking. Being unable to control the time from tracking from a different device was an issue many times, whether through the app or simply from one computer to another. Lastly, I was disappointed that there was never a way to create an invoice from Tempo in PayPal or Quickbooks. I always had to go through all the records one by one and make line items in PayPal and Quickbooks for my invoices, costing me additional time.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was solving the problem of tracking my time for both billing clients and increasing efficiency. I would use Tempo's time logs to create invoices for clients who were on an hourly contract. I also used it for the estimation of projects and confirmation of correct estimation. By using Tempo, I honed my ability to estimate tasks and better plan my days and weeks.

 ### 39. tempo review after being a subscriber for over 1 year

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

reporting is powerful, as many of the parameters you need are available.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

i do suggest preparing more reporting templates as not all users maybe familiar with the jira hierarchy (personally i think jira has a bit of a learning curve) - this is just more for catering to not having the same users whom setup jira as the person running tempo reports.

eg i'm not sure if estimates against actual are available but it maybe a useful template.

not having o365 via mobile.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

identifying areas of the business or projects taking too much resources.

 ### 40. Great Time Tracker for Atlassian Users

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew K. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Tempo Timesheets integrates seamlessly with existing JIRA installations. By adding this application to your existing JIRA account, your team will have access to log their time directly to the tickets they work on without any additional steps. The inherent time submission and review process also ensures that only valid time entries are included in your data sets, which helps you invoice with greater accuracy. The reporting feature also provides several intuitive filters that allow you to sort through your time entry data and analyze the information you need.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The billing integration with JIRA is not cost-effective, as the application requires that you pay for each existing JIRA user, as opposed to each individual Tempo user. In the event you have JIRA users that do not need Tempo, you will still have to pay a monthly Tempo service fee for those users. As is the case with most JIRA-based features, the permissions schemes can be a bit complex in terms of setup, which can be very challenging for users with limited JIRA experience.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through the use of Tempo, our team is able to streamline the time entry process by limiting the number of applications and steps required for daily data entry. The versatile reporting features also allow us to analyze time entry data from a number of different perspectives so that we can better understand the efficiency of our team.

 ### 41. UX Should be improved

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrei P. | VP of Data, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It is adding to JIRA what I need. It is amazing

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Onboarding is not easy. Probably can be improve

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time Tracking and Transparent Reporting. So I can plan my time and see my team activities and time spend

 ### 42. Does what we need it to do

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Calendar overview
Multiple exporting functions
Saved reports
Super fast

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Pretty much everything is there
Maybe little easier filtering, but that is more of nitpicking
Who gets to see what can be improved (we spend a lot of time figuring out how to add admins)

**Recommendations to others considering Tempo:**

The best time tracking software on Jira

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping the team in the know (e.g. how much time we spend on meetings, planning)
Resource management is great to see who will be available

 ### 43. Does what the others don't.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephan L. | Systems Integrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

The admin/management of this product is very versatile. We can allow multiple users to manage all or part Tempo.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

I believe that the lack of a complete competitive solution makes this offering a little expensive.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage many of our production teams with Tempo. We also use it to track time spent on projects which helps in planning future work/projects. It helps in monitoring work hours for hourly employees.

 ### 44. Mindex Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Coz F. | PM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Reporting Capabilities

Ease of Use to add time

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Cannot plan time by project - huge need in Software Industry. Currently you plan time by dedicating person X amount on Y project. It would be nice to take Y project and then dedicate X amount of employee. Just vice versa of how it is done now.

Cant track time by project.

Billable time and customer accounts are difficult to use. Many times the same customer will have a few different SOWs that need to be billed against.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time tracking and billing end customers.

 ### 45. Effective and easy to use work time tracking system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

01. Easy to allocate the tasks time and easy to capture the spent time
02.Timesheet reminder help my team to update the timesheet
03. Mobile app and browser-based time tracking automation is very effective.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Having separate fee structures for each component is not friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Tempo:**

Tempo helps us to manage the Jira project very effectively and efficientlly. The team was also very happy to log their time without much effort as Tempo allows to capture the spent time in various ways such as mobile app and chrome plugin.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially, we planned to track each employee's time for the given tasks. It helps us to make a proper estimation for future projects. Also, we are using the tempo timesheet report for the purpose of customer invoicing.

 ### 46. A good solution for time entry

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Good user interface, straightforward and easy to use

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

It is not very flexible to accommodate workflow and dependencies specific to our environment

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal and third-party time tracking, sitting on Jira

 ### 47. Tempo TimeSheets, an inseparable component for our Jira

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam S. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

It enables users to record their times and link it to all the different tasks that they've been in charge of for that period.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

Tempo TimeSheets can be confusing at times and is not the easiest of tools to manage and administer.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use tempo to enable our users to log their time against different Jira issues and use those data for SRED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development Tax Incentive Program) for Government of Canada.

 ### 48. Great tool integrated with JIRA to track time and generate reports

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

The way it's integrated with JIRA. We wanted a tool that allows us to track time within JIRA and not having our team using a separate tool for that.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

UX is not the best, and it would help a lot if the configuration would be a bit more straightforward. Also, some settings are not flexible enough.

**Recommendations to others considering Tempo:**

If you are looking for a JIRA integrated tool because you don't want to use an external service like Everhour, Toggl, etc., I think Tempo is a great choice.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the time tracking for our collaborators and reporting for our management team. The main benefit is its integration directly within the JIRA dashboard.

 ### 49. Planning and Profitability

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler L. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

Tempo allows our agency to track the profitabily of our work and the capacity of our team members.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

The latest update with the suggested time logging.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits are amazing for tracking various KPIs throughout our agency. We are able to plan our team members' capacity with 90% accuracy. This allows us to keep projects moving profitably without burning out our employees. That equates to high employee happiness!

 ### 50. Tempo Timesheets is Easy to Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Tempo?**

I like how easy tempo timesheets are to use. I also love how they integrate with JIRA.

**What do you dislike about Tempo?**

My only complaint is when we close out a project, if someone still has the card on their timesheet they can still charge time there.

**What problems is Tempo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to help cost out all our project - as it is integrated with Folio.
