We have a custom-built system using n8n for automation and Vogent for Text-to-Speech, all running as containerized applications. The core challenge was: how do we make a standard phone number interact with this system in real-time? Benefit: Radical Simplification and Speed to Market Telnyx completely solves this by abstracting away all the underlying telecommunications complexity. Their Voice API provides a simple, developer-friendly gateway. For us, the benefit is a massive reduction in complexity and a significantly faster time to market. We don't need to be telecom experts, manage physical phone lines, or deal with SIP trunks. We simply provisioned a number through the Telnyx platform, pointed its webhook to our n8n instance, and were instantly able to receive live phone calls as simple HTTP requests. This allowed us to focus immediately on our core competency: building the AI agent's logic. Problem 2: Enabling Real-Time, Dynamic Call Control The second problem was achieving fine-grained, real-time control over the live call flow. A simple call-forwarding service is not enough for an AI agent.
