**What do you like best about Teamcenter?**

I like that aggregating multiple databases into a single Teamcenter database allows for easier data use across different parts of the business. I also appreciate the Active Workspace as a single place to get to everything, which will simplify our users' daily workflow. The 3D visualization features like pan, zoom, and spin within the same Active Workspace client are a huge help compared to past experiences where we had to find data in our old system and then open it in CATIA, which was not intuitive for non-CAD users.

**What do you dislike about Teamcenter?**

It seems like the admin tools have not fully been implemented in Active Workspace. There are times where we have to use the RAC to perform certain actions. One place is the admin tool for JT translation; I can only find that in RAC. The initial setup was very complex. Our needs are very specific and making sure that it is scalable, updateable, and user-friendly is taking quite some time.

  ### 29. Versatile Functionality, Challenging Setups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Teamcenter?**

I like that Teamcenter offers a multifunctional client access with both a lite user and heavy user interface. Having a simple client in Active Workspace Client (AWC) makes it accessible to a broad user base, while the Rich Client (RAC) provides full functionality and data visibility for power users and developers.

**What do you dislike about Teamcenter?**

Keeping up with new installations is not a smooth process as it should be. It is highly error prone. The installations with deployment center miss files that should be in the package. The configuration management of the deployment center needs to be tested further before making it available to the customer. Not very easy setup, it took months for a team of multiple engineers, plus heavy use of the knowledge base and Siemens' GTAC support.

**What problems is Teamcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Teamcenter to maintain the lifecycle of engineering files and documents and ensure governance requirements, making information easily accessible.

I really appreciate Teamcenter's compatibility with several CAD tools like Solid Edge, NX, SolidWorks, and Inventor, along with its extensive customization options. These features, like ITK, SOA, business object, and BMIDE parametrizations, allow for great flexibility and solutions for customers with varied backgrounds. It's particularly powerful for integrating with different tools.

**What do you dislike about Teamcenter?**

Sometimes it lacks single logics and functions, workflow handler is kinda limited for consistencies, for example, I can't consist the date of a 3D and 2D datasets, and only allow the workflow to proceed if the date of one is more recent than the other, but this is only one example. Not easy, the learning curve can be very stiff, and the documentation is not user friendly.

**What problems is Teamcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Teamcenter for ERP integrations, managing BOM and product data. It allows compatibility with various CAD tools and offers rich customization options, benefiting customers with diverse needs.
