Our sales tax is effectively on autopilot these days. It's quite easy to setup new states. I previously filed our sales tax manually which was always a pain in the backside. I am definitely a huge Taxjar fan now and would recommend it to any ecommerce store that wants to automate their sales tax filings and payments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

So far the only fault I've found is that when we have refunds there is often tax we've already paid on the order. Taxjar can't file the refund requests for us with the states. We need to get the data manually and file the refund request manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What’s most helpful about TaxJar and what I love is that it took a whole world of confusing taxes and licenses for states that I had nexus in, and laid out exactly what I needed to do and what to put into Amazon, including if shipping and gift wrap was taxable, as well as explaining clearly what Origin vs. Destination was. Another upside is that it gave me the option to file manually or use their services, and that they pulled all of my data—QUICKLY! to tell me where to get licensed and the depth they go into with sales down to the gradual level (helps me figure out localized taxes when you know exactly to what city and state your stuff shipped). Only downside about Taxjar is that the Autofile costs $100 per state, I did like the free Autofile offer, but...it’s more for people with larger-scale businesses. If TaxJar is reporting lower revenues there should be an Autofile plan that makes more sense and scales based on the volume of people’s sales. Another thing I’d say is the least helpful about TaxJar is the fact that counties are not shown for individual sales all the time, so I have to Google what county a certain city is in. Taxjar is very helpful when dealing with multiple state taxing authorities. Calculations and returns are performed seamlessly behind the scenes, allowing us to concentrate on our business. Filing in multiple states becomes expensive. We have experienced some calculation errors and incurred penalties. Support is not great, and response times to questions are typically longer than we would like, especially regarding Nexus determinations, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It provides me with the needed reports to file all the sales tax returns in a timely manner. The cost is very competitive, and the integration is relatively easy. It saves so much time. So far, I have had no problems with the software. I can't find anything that I dislike. I don't think there are many downsides.
