"Lightweight Ordering and Kitchen Coordination, But Needs More Advanced Reporting and Scale"

3.5/5

What do you like best about TastyIgniter?

What I like best about TastyIgniter is how lightweight and practical it is for managing online ordering and restaurant operations without requiring a very heavy or expensive setup.

For one of our client's healthcare campus and cafeteria environment, we needed a solution that could support meal ordering, pickup coordination, and basic kitchen management for staff and visitors without adding unnecessary operational complexity. TastyIgniter worked well because the platform was relatively easy to deploy and customize for day-to-day food service operations.

One of the biggest advantages for us has been the simplicity of the ordering workflow. Staff and customers could place orders quickly, while kitchen teams had better visibility into incoming requests and preparation timing.

The platform also improved operational coordination between ordering, kitchen preparation, and pickup management, especially during peak meal hours.

Overall, TastyIgniter helped streamline food ordering operations, improve service visibility, and provide a more organized digital ordering experience within our healthcare campus environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TastyIgniter?

One limitation we experienced with TastyIgniter in food service environment was that some advanced operational and reporting features felt less comprehensive compared to larger enterprise restaurant management platforms.

While the platform works well for core online ordering and kitchen coordination, more complex workflows such as advanced analytics, large-scale inventory tracking, or deeper operational automation required additional customization effort.

We also noticed that scaling the platform for higher transaction volumes and multiple service locations required more manual configuration and technical involvement than we initially expected.

Integration flexibility with third-party payment systems, accounting tools, or external delivery workflows also required additional setup depending on operational requirements.

Performance was generally reliable, though during peak ordering periods we occasionally experienced slower response times in dashboard updates and order synchronization.

That said, the platform remained very practical for managing straightforward food ordering and cafeteria operations. Most of the limitations we encountered were related more to scalability and advanced feature depth rather than the core ordering functionality itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TastyIgniter solving and how is that benefiting you?

TastyIgniter helped us solve several operational challenges related to food ordering, kitchen coordination, and service visibility within our healthcare campus and cafeteria environment.

Before implementing the platform for our client, meal requests and cafeteria operations were managed mostly through manual counters, phone-based coordination, and disconnected ordering processes. During peak meal hours, this often created long wait times, order confusion, and limited visibility for kitchen staff.

One of the biggest problems was managing food orders efficiently across staff, visitors, and healthcare teams while reducing manual coordination. TastyIgniter helped centralize ordering workflows into a more organized digital system, making it easier for users to place orders and for kitchen teams to manage preparation queues.

Another major benefit has been improved customer experience. Staff and visitors can now place orders more conveniently, monitor order status, and reduce waiting times during high-traffic meal periods.

The platform also simplified menu management and operational adjustments. Teams can update availability, pricing, and meal options more quickly without relying on manual processes.

From a business perspective, TastyIgniter helped improve food service efficiency, reduce operational delays, streamline kitchen coordination, and create a more organized digital ordering experience within our healthcare campus environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhances efficiency and order processing and delivery"

4/5

What do you like best about TastyIgniter?

The most attractive feature of TastyIgniter is that it has a complete online ordering system. I found it to be very user-friendly for myself and my customers. It is even easy to set menus, for ordering food and drinks, and even for payments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TastyIgniter?

It has no in-built marketing features. Ensure delivery of products to new clients and advertising of promotional items and services is important in any eating joint and it becomes disappointing to have to market separately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TastyIgniter solving and how is that benefiting you?

With TastyIgniter, I have been able to have a new look at the management of the restaurant’s online aspects. This has done away with the problems of using several tools for order placement, payment, and delivery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tastyigniter is an excellent solution for restaurants with technical ability available to them."

5/5

What do you like best about TastyIgniter?

Tastyigniter has features built in or available as free add-ons that the expensive restaurant software packages either lack or charge extra for. For very little money, we were able to set up online ordering with: scheduled pickup delivery, delivery range restrictions, varying delivery fees based on criteria, a KDS for the kitchen, and in-store digital menus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TastyIgniter?

Some of the settings are a bit tricky to get down right. For instance, when setting when you open for pick-up or when you start deliveries, it sets those as your opening times. So if you open at 7 and don't want people to be able to schedule a pick-up before 7:30 and so set "First pickup" for 7:30, it shows your opening time as 7:30, confusing people. Or if you set "first delivery time" as 8:00 and somebody orders an ASAP delivery at 7:55, it will tell them it will be delivered at 8:00. I would alos like to see better reporting options, but these are minor quibbles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TastyIgniter solving and how is that benefiting you?

We take orders for pick-up and delivery. Before TI, we were using another option that was not very convenient. We could not take online payments with it and had to manually enter every order into our POS for tendering. We looked at the option offered by our POS, but it was prepay only, which does not work for us, since about half our customers pay at delivery or pick-up. After some research, we found TI and tested it. It lets us take online orders, customers can select a time for pick-up/delivery or simply choose ASAP, customers can pay online or at time of pick-up/delivery. Using the available KDS extension, which allows us to have multiple KDS displays set up, we now have a KDS at our sandwich station and our drink station. This saves time from having to write or print orders, and cuts down on errors from poor handwriting or missing parts of an order. It also has the option of emailing customers when their orders are ready, so they know to pick up or that their delivery is on its way. It's almost like having another employee on hand to just take orders.

Because the system is open and easy to understand, I was able to create a scraping page that pulls the menu information from the online ordering system and formats it for our in-store displays. This means our online and in-store menus are always in sync and if we change something, we only have to change it once instead of multiple times like we used to have to do. If we run out of an item, I mark it disabled in TI's Menu manager and it will immediately disappear from both the website and the in-store menu boards. This is a huge time saver and allows us to adapt on the fly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Must-Try Solution for Restaurant Owners"

5/5

What do you like best about TastyIgniter?

One of the standout features of TastyIgniter is its developer-friendly and highly customizable nature. The platform empowers restaurant owners and developers alike by providing a versatile and open-source solution. Its integrated marketplace for extensions allows for seamless integration of additional features, enabling restaurants to cater to the specific needs of their business and clientele. With an emphasis on adaptability, TastyIgniter facilitates the creation of tailored online experiences for customers, fostering brand promotion and customer engagement. Moreover, the absence of setup fees and monthly charges makes it an appealing option for businesses looking to minimize initial investment and operating costs, contributing to its cost-effectiveness and accessibility. TastyIgniter's commitment to empowering users, fostering creativity, and minimizing financial barriers makes it a preferred choice for many in the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TastyIgniter?

One aspect that could be improved in TastyIgniter is the initial learning curve for users who are less tech-savvy. While the platform offers a wealth of features and customization options, navigating through its functionalities may pose a challenge for individuals without a strong technical background. The setup process and initial configuration might require a bit more guidance or documentation to aid less experienced users. Additionally, although the platform offers extensive customization, some users might find the need for additional technical support or development expertise to fully leverage its potential, especially when implementing more complex features or extensions. A more user-friendly interface and enhanced support resources could further streamline the onboarding process and optimize the overall user experience for a wider range of users. "TI is the best and only completely free app for food service businesses!"

5/5

What do you like best about TastyIgniter?

I used TastyIgniter because it was the only free application available to manage my food service business. It did what I needed it to do. The ability to extend the app to specific requirements, sometimes free, is huge.

I specified a system to enable order processing from order entry all the way through delivery. A developer, Ryan Mitchell, picked up the idea and wrote the code while I tested and tweaked the specs until we finalized the extension known as Kitchen Display. Now an order can be easily moved through the restaurant by simply touching a button on a tablet or phone. Even allowing customers the capability of placing their own order at their table and being notified via text message or email about the progress of their order while at the sane time keeping everyone else informed via real-time updates on their mobile devices or tablet displays. Even supports customizing queues for prep, plating, ready and delivery queues for each driver or customer pickup; literally whatever you create! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TastyIgniter?

Upgrading has been problematic at times. It is better now, but still missing is an ability to cleanly migrate from one version to the most current. I have data on a 3.0.4 dB that I have to custom import to a clean install. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TastyIgniter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Manual tickets moving through the process. Online capability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
