TaskRabbit left me with a broken shower, overcharged — no protection for users. **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Cecile O. | Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025 **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** Nothing - really have no trust in this company **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** It does not protect homeowners for these bad taskers - they even branded them elite tasker when he has no skills **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** TaskRabbit left me with a broken shower, overcharged $262, and only gave me 50% back — no protection for users. They promote “Elite Taskers,” but mine arrived hours late, without proper tools, lied about fixing the issue, and damaged my shower system. He even lied about hours worked, and there’s no way to adjust the charge or block dishonest Taskers. TaskRabbit does not protect homeowners — they allow substandard Taskers, won’t issue refunds, and only offer partial credit, leaving you stuck with the damage and the bill. ⚠️ Avoid TaskRabbit if you care about your home and your safety. ### 2. !! Small Business Owners Be WARNED !! **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Alex T. **Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2024 **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** They don't do any qualification checks or ensure that people conduct themselves professionally. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** Unskilled, Unprofesional and a nightmare customer service one of the worst online "handymen" websites out there. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** We hired a Tasker Julian Prado based out of NYC to do very basic electrical work. He was over two hours late and then canceled leaving us to find a last-minute replacement at a significant cost. We left him a negative review and he in turn left a false and inaccurate review of our business on Google. I have called into TaskRabbit almost every day since Julian Prado left the review trying to get them to either take the review down or to ban him from their website and to date they've done nothing. I would caution any small business owner from hiring anyone from TaskRabbit to do work for their business, I've learned that I am not the only one that this has happened to and TaskRabbit won't provide any assistance or impose any consequences on the Tasker for violating their code of conduct. ### 3. Not real handymen... Just a bunch of amateurs. Workers not insured or bonded. No vetting through Taskrabbit. Huge Taskrabbit fees. **Recommendations to others considering Taskrabbit:** Do NOT recommend. I scheduled 3 jobs. For the first job, the guy showed up but took twice as long as he should have because he didn't bring the right tool for the job. Some of that may have been my fault for telling him the wrong type of door, but I had the proper tool in our warehouse... he could have asked, but he chose to take the extra hours. Strike one. For the second job, the tasker showed up, completed half a painting job, spilled a bunch of paint on a window sill and into carpet, then packed up and left without telling anyone he was leaving or that he wan't coming back. He canceled the job instead of biling to skirt responsibility and avoid negative feedback. Strike two. For the third job, it was a furniture assembly job. At the time the job was scheduled to start, the tasker canceled the job. Again, can't leave negative feedback and now I have to reschedule... but since I was depending getting this done today, I have to do it. Strike three. I like the concept... like an UBER of handymen... but the execution is not there. Taskrabbit needs better vetting of workers. For the fees that Taskrabbit adds on top of the workers' rates, they should be insuring the workers. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Trying to complete odd handyman jobs around a warehouse with no in-house maintenance team. ### 4. It's a joke for the customer. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** The overall experience. The people on their platform can cancel on you even after they don't show for their scheduled time. And you have zero recourse as a customer. On the flip side, if you cancel w/in 24 hours you get charged and the "tasker" gets paid. Someone please explain how this biz model makes any sense!!??? **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Connecting with independent contractors to help with everyday tasks. ### 5. I won't gamble with taskrabbit anymore. Worst Claims process ever **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning **Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2023 **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** Great concept linking clients to workers **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** Company fine print serves first the middle-man (taskrabbit) and has 0 care for customer care and handling issues that are part of any business. The "happiness pledge" is utterly fake. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Task rabbit made it virtually impossible to come to resolution with damage caused by a tasker during his work. They froze communication between client and tasker - and led the client on a wild goose chase that after 3 weeks or running everyone in circles led absolutely nowhere. I was an avid supporter of Tasker for many years however have decided to take my business elsewhere after a deliberately inhuman and aggravating claims process. Left feeling frustrated, aggrevated, and no one taking accountability. Taskrabbit shields taskers, and claims they are only the 'middle-man'. Clients are left footing the bill work that should have a duty of care. I've had 4 good experiences with Taskrabbit 2 of which led to substantive physical damage, costing thousands of dollars, with no mechanism to claim for negligence and ultimately making the decision to work with taskrabbit a terrible loss for my businesses ### 6. Their service pretty much stinks and I will never sue them again. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** EVERYTHING! The way they handle complaints and there additional fees are unconscionable & unprofessional. **Recommendations to others considering Taskrabbit:** GO ELSEWHERE! Go to the app store and download other alternative apps or place an ad on Craigslists with your requirements, then do your own background check on Intelius. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** I stopped using them a long time ago. I had an issue with a few unreliable taskers, but I kept using the service and didn't choose those taskers anymore. The last straw was when I hired a tasker to mow my lawn. The landscaping company I was using unexpectedly went out of business and I needed my lawn mowed that week until I found a permanent replacement. The tasker they sent massacred my lawn (cut uneven, missed some spots, no edging, etc.) and blew/ spewed the clippings and TRASH everywhere, even on to my neighbor’s lawn. I submitted a complaint and Taskrabbit didn't even allow me to post a review with photos of what the tasker did, they also charged additional fees. I was charged a total of $189, for less than 1.5hrs of work. So I had to dispute the charge with my bank. I was charged $189 for this horrible lawn job, when it typically costs $50 weekly for my size lawn. I will never use Taskrabbit again! Taskrabbit fees is another issue, please notice how they charge an ADDITIONAL $7-$15 PER HOUR for their "Trust & Safety Fee" which is unconscionable. None of this money goes to the tasker. Taskrabbit is worst than Uber when it comes to fees and they’re not even doing any of the work! They claim this is a necessary fee they charge to do background checks on their tasker. Lies! It’s $20/mo for unlimited searches on Intelius. If you have an Intelius account (like them) you can run a check on anyone, all you need is their name & date of birth. Lucky for me, there have been many apps created since this incident that provide a much better service than Taskrabbit. I also place ads on Craigslist and do my own background checks on Intelius,com. I’ve found better more reliable workers on Craigslist alone, it’s been much less expensive. I pay $25-$30 CA$H per hour for labor and the worker gets the entire amount without paying a percentage to these scammy apps. ### 7. The worker was great. I received my bill with an additional 35% service fee $200). This is not disclosed. They tell you that it is by giving a sample bill with a $9.00 charge. It looks like a fixed rate. If you go to their website and click on service fees it describes a fee but does not disclose the 35%. I will never use them again and I would encourage anyone that uses them to get a guarantee on what the fee will be. **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** The worker was great. He did a wonderful job. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** Their misleading fees and the way they try to defend this. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Lawn was cleaned up and will be ready for spring ### 8. When I asked for the number for their legal team, they could not provide it to me. They can break the law to communicate with me but could not help me address the situation. **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** Nothing. Company with no ethics. I would not recommend work with them. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** The CS rep was not helpful and, even nasty, when I was trying to get them to help me. **What problems is Taskrabbit solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. ### 9. The website kept spinning. Tried it about 4 times. Contacted support and after waiting 5 minutes on the phone spoke to a lady who said their was a problem with my account. I told her I dont think there would be as I have never had a problem and when I went to personal assistant it worked fine. I also asked my wife to try it from a different office/location and she had the same problem. Thus, not only does their website suck, but so does the service. Inept and rude (she told me she needed to get off to keep the line open for urgent matters). **What do you like best about Taskrabbit?** When I used it in the past the taskers were good and reliable. So was the one I ended up using. **What do you dislike about Taskrabbit?** A poor website and more important really bad service **Recommendations to others considering Taskrabbit:** Dont.
