What do you like best about TargetX?

Our communications to applicants are now happening in real time and are relevant to the current situation of that applicant. This has been a huge improvement over our prior system of running snapshot reports from our SIS and then doing blast emails without regard to previous communications that may have been sent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TargetX?

A few hiccups here and there with the updates but they are usually quickly resolved. The user community and the support staff are quick to respond with any questions and suggestions regarding business processes or product glitches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great people to work with, but it's expensive for what you get."
2.5/5
What do you like best about TargetX?

The people working in client support at TargetX are wonderful and will go out of their way to find a solution for your issues (but, unfortunately, once a solution is found company policy often is to provide a support document and leave clients to go to it on their own). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TargetX?

The cost is also very high for the value-added, especially since Salesforce now has an education-focused option.

Turnover in the company seems high.

Their documentation is extremely labyrinthine. I printed out their guide for a recent upgrade -- just for fun. It was full of links back and forth between at least a dozen online documents. The stack of paper was over 3 inches tall and I hadn't printed multiple copies of documents that were referenced more than once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Promising suite of products that fails to meet expectations"
0.5/5
What do you like best about TargetX?

TargetX has a solid suite of tools for student enrollment management. I like the automated communications we are able to build on the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TargetX?

Unreliable. Lots of bugs. Bloated. Part of the problem is that the suite is built on top of Salesforce. It also requires several tertiary parties to fully function: Form Assembly for forms, Conga for mail merges, Informatica to write back to the SIS, and Demand Tools for data de-duplication. Each one has problems, and it's always complicated to find out where the problem is coming from and how to address it. Support is also an issue, but we have support through a reseller. What do you like best about TargetX?

TargetX allows large scale email communications which allows us to speak to many audiences on a personal level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TargetX?

TargetX seems to have a lot of bugs even after 3 1/2 years into our implementation. Support and instruction documents fall short every time. We would not be up and running nearly as well as we are if it hadn't been for our own IS team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TargetX?

Running on the Salesforce platform, TargetX targets the platform for higher education.

The include custom dashboard, reporting tools, communication, custom drip communication plans. It's a robust system that meets our current needs. We certainly haven't tapped into all the capabilities it has to offer! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

institutions. They have a complete package to get you up on running for everything from email communications, events, reports and dashboards and day to day student recruitment tools. Product support is very responsive and they can go above and beyond to help you set up the best preferences for your org.

What do you dislike?

We have run into a number of issues based on their mass email blast capabilities. Our institutions does send out significantly more email per month than most other universities of our size but it seems like something that could be resolved in the three plus years we've been using their product. Some other tools such as telemarketing are somewhat limited but still do the trick most of the time.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do your research with the new Salesforce HEDA rolling out to determine if you need the features of TargetX or if a pure Salesforce environment is all that you would need.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We can do everything in one place and no longer have to go through three different departments to set up a simple event registration page. These can then be reported on and we can better utilize space on campus and better anticipate the number of students coming to events. The ability to use Salesforce tasks has also helped our counselors be much more efficient at their job.

Not so much of a con, but the time it takes to up and run is much more time consuming than one may assume. It takes thoughtful buy-in and planning! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
