"Powerful Yet Easy—Instant Reporting and Self-Service Deployment with Tanium"
5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

Tanium is super easy to use, but also very powerful. We can pull detailed reports almost instantly, and the self service software deployment is a huge hit with our users and field service team. Customer support is always quick to help in the off chance we get stuck Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

If I had a complaint, it's that Tanium has SO many tools and modules that it's hard to know them all. Luckily, our team have each learned our favorites and help each other out when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Real-Time Endpoint Visibility in Seconds with Tanium"
4/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

Tanium's most useful and prominent feature is its ability to "ask questions" to all endpoints (computers, servers, cloud instances) within seconds and gain real-time visibility into these devices, thanks to its distributed architecture. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

High Cost: As Tanium is an enterprise-level solution, its licensing and operational costs are quite high. Complex Configuration: Especially in large and heterogeneous environments, correctly configuring all modules is time-consuming and requires expertise. Performance Impact: In some cases, it may increase CPU usage on endpoint devices (machines), especially during intensive scanning or patching operations. Learning Curve: The wide range of features offered by the platform can make it difficult for users to fully master the system and requires in-depth technical knowledge. "Simplifies Security with Real-Time Visibility"
5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I really like Tanium for patch management, asset discovery, and inventory. The incident response is really good; it allows me to monitor system activity in real time. It also enables my team to isolate compromised devices and mitigate cyber attacks. Switching to Tanium was easier compared to other products like CrowdStrike Falcon, and we received support during the setup, which made configuring everything easy. "Real-Time Insights & Unified Control, But Steep Learning Curve"
4/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I appreciate that Tanium serves as a single command center for our IT and security teams, allowing us to push patches, monitor, and maintain our devices effectively. I love how we can see everything on a single consolidated screen and fix issues right from that screen without needing to switch between multiple tools as we had to before. Tanium also provides real-time responses to queries like 'who has this file' or 'who is missing this patch,' which is a significant improvement over our previous system where similar queries would take days. What do you dislike about Tanium?

Tanium is quite feature-rich, but it brings so much documentation and it's quite daunting for a new user to learn what feature is where. The learning curve is quite steep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Consistent Workflows and GUI That Make Remediation Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I love how the workflows and GUI are very similar across the modules, how much it does, and how you are able to find issues and within the same tool start a remediation workflow for many of the issues discovered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

I wish the sales team would settle on a bundling approach and stick with it for more than a year. I also wish the TAMs were back; under the TAM system, Tanium provided the best support I’ve seen from any tech vendor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Yet Complex Tool for Remote Device Management"
4/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I really like how fast Tanium is. You can run a query and get results almost instantly across a lot of devices, which is super helpful when troubleshooting. I also appreciate that you can take action straight away from the same place, like pushing fixes or updates, which simplifies things a lot. The speed really makes a big difference for us, allowing us to quickly check all devices and identify issues, whether it's affecting one user or more, helping us narrow things down fast. The ability to take immediate action without switching tools—like pushing a fix, restarting a service, or even running a script—is very useful and makes troubleshooting much quicker and less frustrating, especially when dealing with multiple users at the same time. It also helps us with visibility and control, showing device status and enabling issue resolution without needing to go onsite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

One thing with Tanium is that it can be a bit complex at times, especially when you start using it. There's a lot of features, and it's not always obvious where to find certain things. The interface feels a bit cluttered, like there's too much going on, so it takes a bit longer to get used to. Reporting could be improved, like making it easier to generate simple reports without needing to build everything from scratch. Also, the dashboard could be more customizable so you can see the most important stuff at a glance. Right now it works, but you kind of need to dig around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Resolved Data Fragmentation with Robust Security"
4/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I appreciate that Tanium has dramatically reduced our time to remediate critical patches. It has also solved our issue of fragmented asset data by providing a single, trusted source of truth for our inventory. Additionally, Tanium has ensured our remote workforce remains compliant with corporate security policies. Another thing I like is the integration with ServiceNow and Splunk, which enhances its functionality within our existing setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

It can be complex for new users. The interface is not user friendly. We needed skilled resources to handle the architecture deployment and configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightning-Fast Endpoint Queries with Powerful Custom Automation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

In a nutshell, it’s a way to send and receive data to endpoints really fast and dynamically.

The appeal of their platform is how they pull this off. Being able to live-query or execute across 10,000 endpoints in 30 seconds is pretty awesome.

I tend to skip a lot of the out-of-the-box stuff, because it’s almost never designed for anyone’s specific use case. For me, the real benefit is the platform itself and the custom content you can build on top of it.

Sensors are custom-designed scripts to gather whatever data you want, in whatever two-dimensional way you want. Packages let you deploy scripts to make changes to systems, whether that’s uninstalling, installing, changing reg keys, updating group policy, etc. Automate lets you chain sensors and packages together for more advanced routines—think downtime procedures, or a series of if/then/else steps.

The biggest benefit for me has been using it to answer C-suite questions immediately. They ask something, I write a short sensor script, push it out, and I instantly have an answer. From there, I can chain it into a package to fix the underlying problem, and then schedule that sensor and package to run automatically. In an afternoon, it becomes something I don’t have to worry about again.

If you get caught up in all the frills and extra stuff they layer on top, you might be disappointed—unless what they built happens to match your exact use case. But if you think of it mainly in terms of those three (really just two) core pieces, and you have people you can dedicate to learning and using it well, it’s a great tool. What do you dislike about Tanium?

I hope the parent company has all the targeting set up correctly so our servers don’t get hit by unnecessary tools. FIM, Conply, Patch, Reveal, etc., etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Patch Management, Needs Improved Scheduling"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I appreciate the granular way that patches can be pushed and patch lists are created with Tanium. I like how our process is set up so that almost everything is automated, which makes managing updates much more efficient. We have a patch list that is automatically created using Patch Tuesday as the foundation, and we utilize maintenance windows to push patches. This includes using a primary window for regular updates and a secondary window to push failed patches after remediation. Additionally, a lot of the setup was able to be migrated over, which was helpful for our small team of 5-6 employees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

For the Deploy side, it would be great if the setup could be the same as Patch. Being able to pick, say, the first Thursday after Patch Tuesday every month without having to go in and adjust the dates monthly to match the Patch side of Tanium. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Endpoint Management with Ease"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tanium?

I use Tanium for endpoint management tasks such as patching systems, software deployment, and enforcing policies. It allows us to manage our assets more efficiently and provides the most up-to-date information from the system, which is a game changer for running quick reports on compliance and software usage. The Patch module is particularly impressive, saving over 10 hours each month by automating our patch schedule and simplifying the process of investigating and fixing deployment errors right from the console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tanium?

Overall, it is a streamlined package, but I feel there is a few weird quirks. Like if you want to send a software deployment out to a handful of computers and you already have the computer names, you either have to build a computer group for the one-time deployment or build a question, should be able to just have an Ad-hoc list like they do in the sensors area.
