I dislike how the program functions far better with parents who download the app -- I wish it would work just as well for parents who are just using it thought texting. What I find most helpful about Talking Points is that your communication goes out to parents with a fluent, professional translation that sounds like it was written in their language! You don't have to simplify your communication because you're not sure about using google translate or other online translation apps. Talking points has always been accurate for me and I've been using it for three years. It's wonderful that so many languages are available! I've used Russian, Spanish, Swahili and others. It saves time because it translates in all those languages. Your communications are saved and you can even save templates. It makes it easy to communicate with my multi language families. What I dislike is that because my district doesn't allow google docs, I wasn't able to copy/paste my students' profiles. I had to do it individually. However, it was well worth the time and effort at the beginning of the year. I have now used Talking Points for three years and find this initial work at the beginning well worth it. I can send out communications to everyone at the same time. This has increased my communications to families because I don't have to wait on others to translate. I have loved using Talking Points this year because I was able to reach EVERYONE in my classroom, every time! What do you dislike about TalkingPoints? I think the only things I didn't like were the glitches, like how it loads the names. That was really the only thing. TalkingPoints is an efficient platform that makes teacher-parent communication easier than ever. It keeps track of how many messages you send and who is reading the messages. It is also great to be able to write in English and the parent can easily change the messages to their native language. The templates provided are also super helpful. Talking Points allows me to respect parents by communicating with them in their language - quickly. I don't have to use another source to paste my writing into, translate, then copy and paste.
