I really appreciate Synthesia for supporting technical documentation in our internal developer portal Backstage. It creates documents in a way that allows people to learn in their preferred style, which is a big improvement over just narrating the documents with audio software. I like how the AI tooling lets me pass a document to it, and it automatically produces a supporting and engaging document. It's also particularly useful for presenting, especially for those who aren't comfortable presenting themselves. The feature to pass loads of technical information from techdocs to form a professional, templated video is something I couldn't find in other tools. The initial setup was very easy. I like that the platform is user friendly - It offers a lot of features that offer high quality results for not that much effort. It's easy to figure out without looking a tutorial. I love that I can import videos custom from other sights like Canva. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I wish that you could download a SCORM files as a creator. My company isn't large enough to qualify for the Enterprise plan, so it's a bit unfair that I pay for the more expensive plan I can get while not being able to use all the features.

I also wish that you could see a selection pane for each scene so I can hide or show one or more objects at a time; I often have to create several layers of visuals for the final product and if I ever have to make adjustment to the bottom layer, I have to move every single shape/text box, then make sure I move them back into place.

Lastly, a lot of the AI voices need pronunciation help. You can fix some of the issues by adding pronunciations or using commas/ellipses, but it difficult to inject excitement and tone into the script. Synthesia offers the easiest pathways to including synthetic human avatars speaking a variety of languages to our educational products. We wanted to affirm the identity of all learners regardless of their ability to read text. They don't have to - they have avatars to help them learn! The most time-consuming aspect of getting our Synthesia videos ready to publish, is making certain the phrasing and pronounciation is correct for the spoken text. The tools are there - but it takes a real human to know if the avatar sounds right or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I initially chose Synthesia after it was recommended for AI-powered video translation. There are three standout features in this area:

1. It translates spoken content with about 90% accuracy,

2. It preserves the speaker’s original voice, tone, and intonation, and it offers a lip sync function that elevates the experience by making it appear as though the person is genuinely speaking the selected language—this works best with front-facing footage rather than side views.

3. Uploading a video for translation is straightforward, and the user interface is very intuitive and easy to navigate.

While the video translation is outstanding there are a few drawbacks:

1. Sometimes Synthesia gets the translation wrong, and when you go to edit to make corrections, it will not allow those corrections. There should be a way to allow this, ie in one of my videos the subject was talking about Paintball, Synthesia heard it as Ping Pong and would not allow me to edit it!

2. Sythesia provides a literal translation, and sometimes words have different meanings or it is a "turn of phrase", Synthesia does not allow for these corrections (I understand you are wanting Synthesia to learn, but maybe there needs some new function, or tick box that allows it in this instance, that Synthesia will not apply to its learning algorithm?

As I am new to Synthesia, and wanted to explore more capabilities, i discovered some other frustrating limitations. For example, while I can upload a 3GB video for translation, I can only upload a 250Mb video into my media folder to use for other creations.

Then, in wanting to use a 3 minute video and add narration and other AI content, when I drop the video into my project, it limits it to 6 seconds!! I looked for help guides, videos BUT there is nothing!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I regularly use Synthesia for both marketing and learning and development purposes. The platform makes video creation remarkably straightforward. In marketing, it’s excellent for producing quick product explanations. For learning and development, it saves a significant amount of time, allowing me to easily generate consistent training materials for various teams. I find it frustrating that, when I write a script, the pronunciation can be completely inaccurate, even after I try to adjust the script. Additionally, the cost of the enterprise plan is unreasonable. There really should be an option between the creator and enterprise plans that would be more suitable for a wider range of users. The level of fine-grained control is more restricted than what you get with full-featured video editors. While lip-sync and pronunciation are generally accurate, they can falter when handling acronyms, names, or specialized jargon, often requiring phonetic adjustments or manual intervention. Achieving advanced motion graphics or intricate layouts is challenging, and the selection of stock assets seems more limited compared to professional-grade tools. For teams with heavy usage, costs can accumulate, and during peak times, render queues may slow down delivery. I love how easy Synthesia is to use. It’s intuitive from start to finish. The library of stock photos and videos saves so much time, and the customization options for fonts, colors, animations, and background music make each video feel professional and on-brand. The avatars are especially impressive. They’re realistic, diverse, and engaging. Honestly, the videos I create in Synthesia look like something from a professional production team, but I’m able to do it all myself in a fraction of the time. While the avatars are impressive overall, their speech and movement could be a bit smoother. That said, they’re still among the best I’ve seen, especially at the price point. Occasionally, it takes a little longer than I’d like for slides to preview, but the delay is minimal. I also find that the auto-generated videos don’t always include the level of detail or nuance I need, so I typically create my own content using the tools provided. I find Synthesia to be a very professional platform. The feedback I'm getting has been extremely positive, and everyone loves the avatar videos. It's extremely easy for me to use Synthesia to quickly get videos out. The idea that Synthesia lets me use the avatars and all the different camera angles and everything makes it a very professional setup in a small amount of time. It was very easy to set up initially. The educational process on how the program works I have gotten hung up on specific items such as editing where I didn't realize when I start to edit a video that it's going to take at least forty five minutes to actually be ready for me to view, and then I have to go back and re-edit it. I definitely like how Synthesia offers plenty of templates to use. I can grab layouts of all different kinds for my videos. I also like how natural the voices are for these videos. The animation feature for scene transition is great because if I'm using other video editing platforms like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro, it would take me forever to create animations, but with Synthesia, it's just one click. Additionally, I like how Synthesia provides options to generate video using Sora or other video options because sometimes those AI videos can enhance the scenario for my video. I really don't have a lot that doesn't work for me. Maybe the only thing is about the studio view. It is a little bit difficult to edit the script while I see it along with the video screen. But I think they did the improvement just now to enable the full screen view for the script as typing section so that I can actually focus on elaborating the scripts a little bit more. Maybe the dashboard could be improved. The dashboard usually has a lot of information on it. So I wish it could be more concise and simple so I know exactly where I wanna go. I used Synthesia to quickly create professional AI-generated videos for business and marketing purposes.
