The most impressive part of joining the Synergis Adept family is the multi-level support that comes with the package. My department adopted administrative responsibilities for a system that had been in place for at least a decade, and serviced multiple departments. The Synergis team guided us through every step of the process, including the training for users and admin. The migration time was impressive and the process was comprehensive. Adept has many upsides, but the biggest one is the pre-sales and after-sales support from the staff. Our implementation was in 2006, and we have been a customer since, and no implementation is without incident, but over the last 15 years we've has a few issues that Synergis has been very responsive about solving, even going so far as to send out on-site techs on their own dime to assist with issues specific to us. The software itself is easy to manage and integrates nicely with nearly ever application and document type we use. There's finally a new viewer that works well (although is still a work in progress), we do like where it is going and being able to move away from the old viewer has been a boon for us. In a modern Web 2.0 world, the application is not the looker at the ball, the lack of customization and modernization in the interface takes some getting used to. The lack of non-linear workflows or condition based workflows was something we had to work around and have lost some fidelity over the years as we have had to simplify the way we do business (sometimes for the better, sometimes it feels like making a square peg work in a round hole). We don't let this detract from the application, its complex but simple and effective for what we use it for. As an engineering and manufacturing company, document control with revisions and versions is important to ensure we have the right/latest documents on the floor. The workflows allowed us to modify our sign-off procedures to go digital and the auditing and document tracking assist with customers who require us to track everything from document access to viewing. The ability to allow every user view access to every drawing and let them solve their own issues and questions by having that access is empowering and benefits to all. Documents are now contained within Adept and are quickly accessible to a variety of users with no significant manual effort for review and usage. We have realized an increase in business process efficiency and have ensured that office floor space does not have to be allocated for document file storage. As we have grown over the past year, Synergis Adept has been instrumental in ensuring new hires get a good sense of business information flow thus getting them productive quickly and understanding the dynamics between functional departments. I am in a mining and mineral processing industry. I am with Mechanical and Civil/Structural Engineering Technical Services. The company uses Synergis Adept to manage, track and audit engineering documentation, and drawings. We have drawings from 1950s' all the way through, and digital CAD drawings. We also used Adept to store 3D drawings. We use Adept daily. For scanned drawings, we use .TIF, .PDF, and they can be stacked so the latest version is available at the top. This function allows us to have version control and clarity in system. 3D .STEP files works in Adept viewer if they are zipped and stored. We use DWG files for tracking 2D CAD files. If proper meta data are entered and assets coded properly, the system works quite well. For CAD files, title blocks can be coded to extract meta data upon sign in to increase efficiency in Doc control. Adept viewer is versatile and can display quite well. The program has a steep learning curve, but it does the job quite well. The Synergis support team is quite responsive, and this is their biggest asset. Their customer relation are also wonderful. Adept tracks documents and drawings audit trails proficiently and functions as expected for engineering audit and document control purposes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Synergis Adept? Adpet does a good job at stacking data and having a good audit trail. It does have limitations when it comes to stacking parent/child files. It has capabilities to streamline with project management and engineering drawing approval process, but we do not use it. We have used Synergis Adept as our Document control system for 10 years now. Being able to manage and track our Engineering documents (Drawings, ECN's, ECR's, Deviations, Start/Stop's) has been invaluable. I have also have been very impressed with the Synergis Help Desk, the Customer support is outstanding. When I do submitt a Help Desk ticket they get back to me very quickly, sometimes within minutes of my submittal, and have always been able to help me correct my issues and answer my many questions with patience. Adept supplies a method to manage all of our CAD documents from the design phase thru fabrication and implementation, as well as allowing maintenance to access drawings when needed after the equipment is in service. It also stores old versions of all revised files that can be accessed at any time to see what changes were made in the past, which can be extremely helpful with troubleshooting. I would also like to say that Synergis has a very helpful helpdesk and team to work thru any issues you may have with integration between CAD software and Adept. I wouldn't classify these as dislikes, but the viewer can be a little quirky, I know Synergis is developing their viewer currently and look forward to upgrading to it in the future. There is also a definite manner that CAD users need to learn to interact with Adept, but once you understand a few things not to do, it is very painless to use Adept to manage drawings. Synergis manages thousands of .tif, .pdf, .dwg, and Autodesk Inventor files for us, giving us a common program that is used from the initial design phase of equipment to allowing access to maintenance personnel 24/7.
