The library offers a wide range of features and overall usable documentation. The response time of the support was okay. **What do you dislike about Essential Studio?** We purchased the product at a fair price and with a perpetual license. About three years ago, the price of the components increased almost fivefold, and the new license agreement prohibited distribution after the subscription expired. A provider that allows such changes is not reliable. Therefore, in our latest version, we have removed all dependencies. **What problems is Essential Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a library for MAUI controls. ### 2. But as soon as you try doing something else than what you see in the demo you find it hard/impossible to do with Syncfusion. **What do you dislike about Essential Studio?** The licence model. The huge amount of bugs. New releases that fixed one bug introduced another one. **What problems is Essential Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rapid development of business applications. However we have switched to use Radzen which does the job better. ### 4. Old technology with a thin veneer to make it fit modern frameworks **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Richard D. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2021 **What do you like best about Essential Studio?** Complete set of controls with a common feel. **What do you dislike about Essential Studio?** I worked with cshtml pages and blazor. In both cases, it felt like controls designed and built around 2005 with aspx and ajax/json. Going back to using a cshtml/cshtml.cs model, I could never find a way to work within that paradigm. i.e. communicate data between code a page using a 'model', no javascript and returning a page. The responses from the help desk pushed me down the path of using MVC techniques, javascript and json. The Razor page model is supposed to be a simple framework. I could make is work, as long as I introduced the complexiities of MVC. Similar story for Blazor. It felt as if it was not deisgned around Blazor approaches, but with a layer on top of the 2005 design to make it workable. **Recommendations to others considering Essential Studio:** Consider if you want to develop in one of the newer .net frameworks Razor pages (without MVC) or Blazor? If yes, do you want to work in the paradigm of those frameworks? If yes again, maybe there are controls that fit the paradigm better. **What problems is Essential Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** It forces me to work in a different paradigm to the one the framework wants me to work in. No benefits for me, but I imagine that if you have an old application using Syncfusion controls and you want to update to Razor pages or Blazor, it should be really easy. Your interface with the controls is pretty much unchanged. However, if you want to switch to the new frameworks paradigms, there my be issues. ### 5. Customer bonding with chains and shackles **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Business Supplies and Equipment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2019 **What do you like best about Essential Studio?** Quality of the software Quality of the helpdesk **What do you dislike about Essential Studio?** We were offered a flat yearly subscription fee for all our developers. There is just the two of us, but it was a nice offer. It wasn't mentioned nor could I find this anywhere on their website, that once you quit the subscription you are not allowed to use the product any more. Not even the software that we programmed ourselves!! It is quit normal that if you quit a subscription that you do not get any updates. It's quite normal that after that you can still use the product and most certainly the software that you created yourself. But in the contract (and for as far as I know only in the contract) it states that upon ending the subscription you must remove all their software from your computers and servers and that even for your own developed software you may not use it anymore. This is a form of customer bonding, but than with chanis and shackles. We asked Syncfusion to allow us to keep using Syncfusion for at least the software that we created. We only used the grid in something like 4 or 5 programs. But they are as flexible as concrete. So unless they change their mind we will renew the subscription for one year and be quick to remove all the grids from them. **Recommendations to others considering Essential Studio:** Be aware **What problems is Essential Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We only wanted a better grid than the standard grid provided by Microsoft. ### 6. Wish we never started using syncfusion **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jason S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2018 **What do you like best about Essential Studio?** Controls are nice looking and there is a large selection **What do you dislike about Essential Studio?** Controls riddled with bugs Overpriced Forced to waste time creating examples to indicate a fault in the controls, or to test after a patch is released. Private patches are released and not rolled into a release for a long time, makes if very difficult to use NuGet and to manage versions Takes at least 24 hours for a response from anyone, then once they find the bug it can take weeks for a patch. If it takes more than one response for support to find the bug it can take days as each response takes 24 hours. Online documentation is very poor and incomplete Controls are overloaded and cause application slowdowns **Recommendations to others considering Essential Studio:** Find another control provider **What problems is Essential Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** we use a few controls in a piece of software given to customers for free for configuring one of our products.
