## Symantec End-user Endpoint Security Reviews
  ### 1. User-Friendly Interface and Robust Features, but Support and Integration Need Improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sagar p. | AVP, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

User friendly GUI
Bandwidth utilization can be controlled from console itself
Policy configuration can be done at endpoint level
Communication file sylink.xml is readily available if there is no connection of endpoint with Symantec manager console.
GUP can be configured to distribute bandwidth load.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Product support issue is the major issue nowadays
Integration is a major challenge with multiple products
Splunk integration is causing multiple issues as telemetry data is not being processed by Symantec to Splunk
High CPU utilization is observed in multiple Linux servers even after throttling being in place

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Symantec nowadays are not providing appropriate support for proper resolution of problem faced
We have raised CPU utilization issue multiple time due to which our production is hampered in daily basis but still no resolution provided by Symantec support team

  ### 2. AV to avoid

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Director of Infrastructure Services at Creative Group, Inc., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2015

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

The new cloud service was easy to setup and maintain.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Does not detect as well as other AV's. Takes up too many resources. Years of issues in the older software makes me not trust anything they make.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

There are much better choices available. Sophos endpoint (if you have a sophos firewall). Bitdefender endpoint is outstanding.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security issues. Drive Encrypton, web protection and overall security.

  ### 3. Awful Product

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

The back end engines work well at doing what they're supposed to do (IPS, AV, etc).

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

My issues with Symantec lie in their GUI and limitations on the data I can access. For example, they used to have a feature that allowed for any malicious files found on a client to be forwarded to a quarantine server but for some reason they got rid of this - although remnants of it have been left in the management configuration screens.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Know what information and controls you want and make sure the product offers them.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use SEP in a typical fashion but, all in all, I think it may cause about as many problems as it solves.

  ### 4. Antivirus from a past generation

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Central management is nice. Deployment is quite easy through it (after you make firewall exceptions etc. Updating clients is easy as well

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Not very user friendly. Making policies can be dangerous - you have to be VERY careful, as it's not very explicit on what devices are covered. We had a situation where we tried to disable USB storage, yet it disabled a LOT of USB keyboards/mouse other devices. No real setup support from the get-go. Capture rate wasn't great. We don't have a terrible infection rate, but ran across a few low impact problems that it didn't detect, or didn't detect originally, so once it found them it was a manual process to remove.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Look for something next gen. SEP is too old school, and without a complete re-write it's unsufficient to meet the current threat landscape.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for antivirus protection. We were hoping to use this to fill a gap for both antivirus protection and some endpoint control. However the endpoint control component tends to be obtrusive and problematic, as it changes firewall settings and really just didn't live up to the need for comprehensive protection.

  ### 5. A Hefty Security Program - The good, bad and ugly

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared T. | UNIX Server Administrator, Packaging and Containers, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2015

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Symantec does a good job of offering many different security options and they all work well.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

The size of the application. Symantec seems to be twice as big as most other security programs that do the same.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

I would recommend Symantec if the user is looking for a robust security program that offers them many admin abilities, unlike a lot of other smaller security programs.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Symantec keeps us completely updated from all security risks. The product also work seamlessly with our firewall that we already have in place.
