## Symantec End-user Endpoint Security Reviews
  ### 1. Industry-Standard Suite, But a Major Resource Hog That Disrupts Network Connections

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gareth W. | Computer Support Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Industry standard tools and application suite

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

It was a huge drag on system resources and would cause negative interactions with some of applications. It was almost guaranteed that if something wastn working right that had to do with the internet or network connections, such as shared drives, that it would be the symantec install that was causing the problem.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it was installed to try to solve the problem of malware and virus attacks on our systems. we were having daily issues with bad actor websites and suspicious links in emails.

  ### 2. End of an Era

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edwin A. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

The ease of uninstallation is great because it just makes it faster

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

It doesn't really do much in terms of finding threats or malicious software.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's not really benefiting me

  ### 3. Good product - Awful support

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** F R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

This is a established product that does its job nicely. The centralized cloud console properly monitors clients and issues alerts as expected, interface is clean and easy to use albeit a bit too simple for the cloud version, compared to the on-prem Enterprise edition that presents clients in a tree structure and has the ability to create firewall and management policies and apply these to groups to control traffic at the port level, service level or source/destination level. A firewall at the perimeter will protect ports and services but many threats come now via http and https, so it's vital to have protection at the endpoint level.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Support after Broadcom acquisition is awful. Been using Symantec products since 2004 and never had an issue with support until Broadcom acquired it. I had a problem with my licensing (they offered a free upgrade from SBE to SES because they were discontinuing the former) and opened a support ticket in which I was told it would be upgraded before October 31st but that did not happen. On that day I opened another ticket (high priority this time) and they just tossed it around until for days until I call them and I was told that because my subscription had expired I needed to buy new licenses (my subscription does not show as expired in the console, because it had been extended to help with the transition to SES so that was inaccurate). All support calls went to India, the line quality was very poor and if you add that to a thick accent, it was very hard to understand the rep. Yet the bottom line is this: Regardless being a paying customer, with an active license, she was rude and could care less about loosing a client.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for Endpoint protection, anitivirus and firewall. It is nice to have an extra layer of protection at the endpoint level as nowadays many threats pass through the perimeter firewall via a web browser, so it catch bugs that users may be unknowingly inviting via an embedded link in an email r an attachment. The console has the needed features to know the status of clients at a glance (all good, needs attention, at risk, needs restart, needs update) and you can create policies and assign to groups, similar to what you can do in the SEP Enterprise edition, though the interface for the latter is much nicer that the one for the SBE Cloud. In general, this is a good product as long as you don't need to call support.

  ### 4. They had a good product, but good luck trying to renew after Broadcom took over

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Good product, doesn't bog down the computer like other similar products. Have not have any issues with malware while running this software.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Like others, the license expired while Broadcom acquired Symantec. I have been trying to get a renewal license for this products for the past 2-3 months. Symantec (now Broadcom) is no longer selling the license, and every reseller I contacted is not responding to the emails regarding pricing information. I have contacted Broadcom directly, and they put me in contact with a vendor, which sent me a quote that was for more devices that I inquired about. Contacted the vendor back asking for a quote for just the number of devices I had, never heard back from them.

At this point I have stations for which the license has expired and do not have a way to renew them. I really hate to start looking for other products, but at the rate I am receiving responses from vendors, I have no choice.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Securing the devices against malware, virus.

  ### 5. Symantec is best service of protection our business systems.

**Reviewed by:** Roy B. | Sales Associate, Staffing and Recruiting

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

It is easy to use and install easily on all version of windows. Symantec antivirus is not expensive its price is low as compared to other antivirus applications. Symantec endpoint protection is well design application for pointing and removing all kinds of powerful threats. Symantec provide us a long security protection and cloud version worked well. Application control is available for different users Firewall protection is great. Symantec allows for USB control well and update our PC automatically.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Symantec price point is little bit high while purchasing it for our organization and some of its features cannot work without internet connection. Symantec reporting is not best for us and the page layout could be improved. Symantec sometime uses a huge amount system resources and we load is tool in window some functions are disable by this tool.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometime, Symantec every helpful for me and It always protect my email and PC from threats. I also use Symantec to protect my personal computer keep my data secure form powerful threats. It is well design, reliable and stable software. I always use this tool for save my personal document because my PC always stay protected from threats. I can use easily Symantec without facing any difficulty.

  ### 6. Virus Protection Okay But a Nightmare to Manage

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

It's adequate to handle virus protection.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

The product requires too much hands-on administration and user interaction. Far too often we have to manually repair an installation on a machine. The management console is clunky and inefficient.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Look for a less bloated product

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Preventing PCs and servers from virus infection.

  ### 7. Like most Symantec products, it causes severe degradation to my system

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

I like absolutely nothing about this software.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Everything. The user interface is ancient and it causes severe degradation to my system performance.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Do not use this product

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized deployment, but other solutions offer this too.

  ### 8. STAY FAR AWAY

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denny S. | IT Technician, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2015

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Absolutely nothing about this product is likeable.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Everything. The bloated installer. The ridiculous amounts of RAM needed to run the server. The databases that grow and grow and grow without any regard for size constraints. The licensing (difficult to understand). Lack of a cloud option. Lack of other options found in other vendors (like web filtering). Clients that don't always respond to server commands. Basically, the last "good" version of this program was version 10. Ever since they went to this cartoony interface it's been *horrid*.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Don't. Just don't. Go find another vendor. Look for ones that offer the option to use a cloud based control panel.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've solved the problem of using this software by switching to a cloud-based product. This new product works *wonderfully* and does not require that I house my own servers. As such, I've seen the issues I faced with symantec dissappear overnight (databases that would grow and fill up the server for no reason, antivirus definitions that were waaaaay out of data but still being stored on the server, reports that not only make sense but are much easier to generate).

  ### 9. Try out free anti virus programs before you get sucked into Symantec.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard M. | Network Services Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2015

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Nothing really. I guess it looks pretty.

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

Where do I start. It doesn't do what it is supposed to do: Stop viruses. An enterprise software solution should be able to at least detect a virus, any virus running on a computer.

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

From buying it, to installing the full server install, workstations and renewals is a pain in the ass.

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work in IT. I ve worked with Symantec virus protection for close to 10 years. SEP is a resource hog, is a crappy virus scanner / removal tool. There are free tools that work much better.

  ### 10. SEP Administrator review hands on experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2015

**What do you like best about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

if and when SEP detects a virus is usually can remove it

**What do you dislike about Symantec End-user Endpoint Security?**

the management system is a nightmare to navigate, migration from one version to another, the remote install of the client is just a shamble of a mess, virus detection is rudimentary at best, the client software is bolted, the SEP database is 29GB Symantec said its normal, no adware and spyware detection. only 10 viruses detected in 365 days almost not worth the money as free AV could to the same job

**Recommendations to others considering Symantec End-user Endpoint Security:**

Stay away

**What problems is Symantec End-user Endpoint Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

keeps the network free of viruses infections.
