"Amazing features"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

The different characteristics that it can offer, it is a very robust tool, it offers an endless number of possible configurations that can be adapted to any environment and need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

In this way, with its numerous options, it can become a bit confusing and complicated to implement. Additionally, the database engine that stores all the information should be reconsidered since not everyone can or has the capacity to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best in the market...."
5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

I like the integration with CASB and other Cloud solutions like ICE and so on, it fits very well and also they have an integration with the southamerican laws about data protection.... more exactly here in Colombia you got a theme for Ley de Protección de Datos 1581 wich empowers the company to start sooner the implementation of this DLP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

the requirement for oracle DB, i think it increases the prices for a solution like this and maybe you guys should open it up for other third vendors like postgress or SQL anyway Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Complete DLP solution"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

Symantec DLP software provide monitoring to all channel for data in rest, data in motion. The GUI of Enforce server has very good reporting data which give complete visibility of incidents. Symantec DLP integration with other solution like proxy, encryption and cloud email is very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

more application to be added in Application monitoring list, Agent support on linux system required. On Mac systems very limited prevent features. deployment of agent from enforce server or any tool help IT members to deploy agent quickly else customer need to be depend on other tools & it increase deployment period for DLP solution. providing exception to internal IP for DLP endpoint to be added. "Based on DLP 14 it is awesome, but heard it only gets better"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

What do I like best? It works and is the bets product out there for DLP. That's it, its pretty simple. Long answer is that Symantec continues to be the leader in DLP.

Now remember DLP is more about a Data Loss Prevention program than a specific product. If you don't have a process/program in place, the product no matter how awesome it is, and Symantec is awesome will not be very successful in your environment.

That's the hard news...

The good news is that Symantec DLP is really powerful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

DLP can be difficult to get the data organziated and undrestand what makes "sensitive" data in your enivonment. I mean it is easy to figure out that SSNs and PHI shouldn't be leaving, but getting that data organziaed is the challenge.

Symantec DLP leverages Oracle for its DB which can be a pain and a turn off for users. I wish the Symantec leveraged MSSQL as that would be easier to do than Oracle, but I doubt that is changing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Symantec DLP is our choice"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

I worked as a security architect and implemented Symantec DLP to protect client's sensitive data from leakage. I have compared Symantec DLP with other leading software on the market and we have already completed a few proof of concepts in a medium size companies. Generally, from my experience, Symantec DLP does not allow any type of threat to penetrate if setup and implemented properly by an engineer and the customer IT staff is involved in the DLP implementation. The major features of Symantec DLP we tested were: rule sets customization to filter false positives, integration with IT environments and especially with Active Directory, supporting large number of network protocols for intercepting and analyzing data, endpoint agent with the ability to block data on all channels with content analysis. The DLP implementation is quite straightforward, but if you have some difficulties with extra components deployments you should invite engineer from vendor to speed up the installation process. The product is stable, we did not face performance issues.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

Data collection and analysis of the sensitive data pattern from different parties might be time consuming, so you should involve the customer IT staff and even vendor support to customize the settings efficiently and minimise the volume of false positives. I believe it's common for almost all DLP software that some DLP functions require extra investments in time and money. Symantec DLP reporting feature has some limitations. "The best in the world"
5/5
What do you like best about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

The completeness of the product. Other solutions can do some aspects better but lack in other however Symantec DLP provides a complete package and addresses every aspect of data loss possibilities along with in-depth visibility of the environment. And combined with robust integration capabilities with 3rd party systems the possibility is endless for this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?

The aspect that I dislike most about Symantec DLP is the back end db reliance on Oracle. I mean back in the day Oracle was more secure in comparison to SQL Server because of encryption and all however times have moved and Symantec should consider introducing MSSQL Server as a possible back-end. This is something that I would definitely like. Plus introduction of Machine Learning for Endpoint Prevent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
