So what I can say is mainly about first impressions and some short term impressions. Deployment within an organization seemed relatively easy, support is great, especially since the community chimes in and supports as well. Any questions arrising will at least be answered by a community member and oftentimes Symantec itself will chime in as well. The requirements for DSGVO are rather strict in regards to what data is allowed to go outside of our organisation and this product makes this relatively simple. The interface is rather straight forward and the options offered seem well thought out. We sadly never went beyond trialing the product - see Dislikes - but I would liked to have worked with the product more. **What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?** The pricing is something that I have had troubles with. Working for a NGO there is always the need to reduce cost. Especially for companies that rely on resellers, getting rebates is rather difficult. There is some confusion here and there in usability, but nothing that cannot be solved. The Network Monitor component is the most advanced on the market. You integrate with the other Network DLP components like Prevent for Web, Prevent for Email, Discover and Prevent. I also find the Data Insight component a very valuable feature that allows the client to have full visibility into the company data. Data Insight is a very good component that raises the standard DLP functions and helps the client to gain visibility over the data usage, ownership, and permissions. **What do you dislike about Symantec Data Loss Prevention?** Oracle is only the DB used by Symantec, which is a deal-breaker. It is exclusive to one DB provider. The Symantec DLP solution is very complex, and installation requires many components to setup. Sometimes the Oracle instance needs to be restarted when using full Windows deployment. It is problem we were able to fix because we were able to retrace our steps when data are altered in the system by whom. And lastly, we were able to prevent leaks and theft of our encrypted data.
