What do you like best about Sycamore?

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

Some functions seem a little 'clunky' or cumbersome (hard to sync with gmail, for example). However, I have not worked with other school management software, so I really don't have a basis for comparison.

I wish there were tutorial videos for parents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pretty good system"

What do you like best about Sycamore?

Sycamore is pretty intuitive to use, with little training needed to get things done. We house student and staff data, create report cards, send emails to classes, and even allow families to connect with each other. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

I wish texting was a usable feature. The built in one is ridiculous. Even the reps I spoke with said to purchase School Messenger to text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sycamore solving and how is that benefiting you?

THERE IS NO WAY TO TEXT ONLY ONE KID'S PARENTS. I LITERALLY HAVE TO CHOOSE THE ENTIRE CLASS AND THEN CLICK OFF EVERY PARENT I DON'T WANT TO SEND THE TEXT MESSAGE TO. FOR THE LOVE OF SECRETARIES, CREATE A "SELECT ALL"/"DESELECT ALL" OPTION. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

Although it's not super intuitive, it does have a ton of videos, webinars and a help section. And if I can't find an answer to my question, the support team has always answered quickly! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not the most user friendly software"

What do you like best about Sycamore?

The seating chart has images of the students and so this is useful. The attendance system works smoothly and can be modified easily. It is easy to input grades and modify them where necessary. The interface is clean and it is not hard to navigate around the site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

The messaging feature does not always work and does not always notify you if you have received a message. I often miss messages and then have angry customers because of this. The login via email also does not always work and I often have to login twice. There are several redundant features which have a purpose that is unclear to me. Recommendations to others considering Sycamore:

There are other systems that will work more smoothly and functionally than Sycamore. I would therefore not recommend Sycamore ahead of alternative software. There is a large market available and so check many options before choosing this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awkward posting and not structurally Google Compatible."

What do you like best about Sycamore?

I like how the company has thought of MANY of the school functions, especially on the financial side, parental communication side, and grade input side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

I would really like to see Google Grades automatically update, instead of ME wasting thousands of hours pushing buttons. The missing work, excused work, etc. does not transfer over from Google Classroom. There are not even setting for me to transfer the grades automatically from Google Classroom.

Posting things on Sycamore is VERY difficult and time consuming. If Sycamore does not do something to fix these problems, then as soon as Google Classroom can process money, Sycamore will soon be obsolete.

Google Classroom is compatible with nearly every educational app. I have not once seen Sycamore's brand on an educational app.

Get with it soon Sycamore, or your company will be gone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Sycamore:

I would not try to connect or transfer grades from Google Classroom, until Sycamore has their engineers do a simple fix. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sycamore allows us to do a lot of financial transactions, but I am not sure there are many benefits that Sycamore has, compared with other school apps. Price >>may<< be one benefit of Sycamore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sycamore?

I like the in-app messaging services. It makes communicating with co-workers easy. Communication is such a huge part of education, using Sycamore makes communication very easy.

Another portion of Sycamore that I like is the great customer support that they have. Through the program, there is a built in feature for direct messaging with the support staff at Sycamore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

It is not compatible for schools with few students. I understand that it doesn't always benefit to service a small school, but it may help the small school grow if they were able to use Sycamore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I've used better programs"

What do you like best about Sycamore?

Once you get the hang of navigating your way through Sycamore, it can be a useful tool. When I'm grading, it tells me if a student was absent on the day of the assignment and that was really helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sycamore?

Navigation throughout the website is not intuitive. It took me a while to learn how to use the system and I consider myself pretty good with technology. Links bring you to pages that you wouldn't expect, and you have to go through multiple buttons just to take attendance (at least that's how our school's Sycamore was set up). Recommendations to others considering Sycamore:

Sycamore is a good program for the low cost that you get it for. If you are willing/able to spend a little bit more, though, there are other programs that can do more (like chart and graph grades, etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sycamore?

Navigating through Sycamore is a bit difficult. Buttons bring you to pages you wouldn’t expect them to, and sometimes you have to go through multiple layers of clicking around just to find what you need (an example being finding the page that you can take attendance on).
