## About Swarmia
Swarmia is the software engineering intelligence platform that gives product and engineering leaders one place to see how their teams work, how they feel, and where the investment goes — and the tools to act on what they find. The platform is trusted by industry-leading companies of all sizes, including Lovable, Honeycomb, Engine, Bolt, and Miro. You’d never run production without monitoring. But for years, plenty of organizations ran engineering on gut feel and a few good-enough dashboards. That worked when you could keep the whole picture in your head. When AI tools are writing code faster than anyone can track by intuition, it doesn’t anymore. Swarmia brings four things together on one org structure and one data model: engineering metrics, AI adoption and impact, developer experience surveys, and software capitalization. One source of truth instead of a productivity tool, a survey tool, and a capitalization spreadsheet that never talk to each other. Most teams have rolled out Copilot, Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code, but far fewer can say what they’re getting for it. Swarmia brings every AI tool into one view — who has access, who’s using it and how, and what it costs — so you can spot unused licenses, find the teams getting real value, and connect AI spend to the work it supported. Adoption is only half the story, though. Swarmia also measures how effectively your teams turn ideas into working software with research-backed metrics, including DORA. Working agreements, automated signals, and Slack and Teams notifications turn metrics into real behavior change — not dashboards nobody checks. From there, Swarmia keeps a clear line from effort to value. You can see where engineering time is actually going, and whether your biggest projects are on track early enough to do something about it. It also makes software capitalization a few clicks instead of a quarterly fire drill, with audit-ready reports in minutes and an FTE model defensible enough for Big Four auditors. And because numbers don't tell you what it's like to work in your organization, developer experience surveys ask the questions only engineers can answer, then hand back a heatmap by team and a prioritized action plan. We believe engineering improvement happens when you fix the system people work in, not when you measure individuals harder. Most tools in this space are built top-down, for leadership reporting. Swarmia’s roots are in helping teams get better, so it's built for the people doing the work as much as the people reporting on it. Because it's transparent by design — most of the data is visible to everyone, from ICs to the CTO — engineers see it as a tool to improve their own work, not a way to be watched. The result is cross-domain insights no single-purpose tool can offer, on one platform with one setup. Your gut feeling had a good run. Swarmia is engineering intelligence you can trust.

 ### 3. My team statistics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Viktor S. | Program manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Way how clean graphs are built. Clean design, good on-air updates with the filters. Good switch between some data, but with some flaws. I'll put more in the second window, as a challenge.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

What Im missing:
1. When I work more with the analytics or design team - I have specific issue types, which sometimes I want to compare all together, f.e. stories + tasks + bugs, if we have specific mix, I cant do that, or I do not know how to do that together, without switching on left menu tabs.
2. When I work with custom field data(f.e. Story points) - I try to check what differences in cycle time on differently estimated stories and its each time ask me to setup this through selection of advanced option of custom field. Please consider adding a save option(temporary, without going so deep as with labels f.e.) so I can have session of data compared.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visualization of data, we are able to see how we are progressing with our OKRs related to metrics.

 ### 4. Good Swarmia Experience

Engineering Organisation Visibility in terms of Metrics and insights.

 ### 6. Great analytics, quick setup/onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruno S. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Data is presented in an ease of use way. We setup it in 10 minutes and start getting insights on how to improve our team's delivery.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

No downsides so far, it has the quality of other tools of the market that are too expensive for early startups.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identify team's bottlenecks, low performers and track Dora Metrics

 ### 7. A helpful tool for gathering insights into the development process

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

- It offers interesting data on team activities like pull request review times and commit frequencies.
- It offers greater visibility into the team’s coding and review activities, which can aid in process optimization.
- It integrates easily with other tools like Linear and Github
- The UI is clean and it's easy to use
- It's easy to try it out and slowly implement more of it's features into your teams workflow over time

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

- The usefulness of the metrics depends largely on how they are interpreted and applied by the team. Software productivity is hard to measure. Swarmia tries to address this by providing an "Insights" section, which points you in the right direction towards making proper adjustments.
- The tool can be useful for managers to monitor team activities and workload distribution.
- The value of code written is not in the number of lines or number of commits made. This is the part that Swarmia doesn't capture.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team mainly uses it to look at how efficiently we most pull requests through our pipeline. We could probably do better to action the insights but for now it's mainly just used to keep an eye on whether pull requests are taking too long to get merged and people aren't actively reviewing pull requests enough.

 ### 8. Transformative Tool for Development Focus and Performance Metrics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francisco Javier A. | Co-Founder & Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia has been incredibly useful in providing clear insights into where our development teams are focusing their efforts. The ability to redirect our teams based on these insights ensures that we stay on the right path. I particularly appreciate the performance metrics, which give a clear picture of how well my team is performing. The recent addition of the beta survey feature has been a game-changer, allowing us to measure the cultural aspects of our work without having to develop a tool from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

While Swarmia excels in performance metrics and focus tracking, it initially lacked tools to measure the cultural aspects of team. The beta survey feature has addressed this to some extent, but there is still room for improvement. I would love to see built-in analysis tools for survey responses. Currently, I download the responses as an Excel file and create a dashboard in Google Data Studio to measure these aspects. Being able to analyze these metrics directly within Swarmia would be fantastic.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia solves the problem of gaining comprehensive clarity on where my teams are focusing their efforts. By associating pull requests and tasks in Jira with specific categories where we invest our time, it provides a holistic view of what we are working on and how the team is performing. Previously, we relied only on story points to measure efforts, which did not give an accurate picture. Swarmia’s insights have transformed our approach from mere perception to data-driven clarity, greatly enhancing our ability to manage and optimize our team's performance.

 ### 9. Great insights and streamlined engineering with Swarmia

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Actionable insights into engineering productivity

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Nothing as such. The product has bit of a learning curve but it's very usable after you get the hang of it.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving insights into engineering productivity so actionable items can be picked up.

 ### 10. Excellent tool for getting insights of your development process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Easy to us and the reports provide concrete and useful data right off the bat. Great configuration options.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

No major downsides, once set up, it has been a breeze.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia is providing insights to the development process and resources allocation in the teams, especially helping to manage WIP limits and track the cycle time.

 ### 11. Cannot define in-progress time

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Easy to see general overall activities on PRs. I find PR duration for in-progress time and review time helpful, this helps us to find bottleneck in reviews or identify if the scope of the task was too big.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

In progress time of calculation is not correct for our engineering team workflow. We create draft PR as soon as we start the task, we expect in progress time from the draft creation to PR marked not draft. However, Swarmia somehow picks up time from commit that was made way earlier and use that time instead of draft creation time. This end up capturing in progress time wrongly. Imagine a branch `feature1` was created from `master` and a first PR created from `feature1` branch. Then `feature2` branch was created from `feature2` because well some implementations have dependencies. Now a second PR created from `feature2` contains commit from `feature1` branch, which on Swarmia captures the easliest commit from `feature1` as start of the in-progress time. For us, this is wrong. The correct in-progress time for the second PR for us is from the time second PR draft is made.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Swarmia for identifying current slow part or bottleneck of engineering process to improve it. I use it to see if there is any change in average delivery time, and average PRs delivered too.

 ### 12. Best tool for measuring team management over code and great integration with Linear.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jefferson R. | Tech Mananger, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I really like it, it's become very easy to check the teams' tasks on Github.
It's super easy to get the Cycle Time and Throughput, we use it very little, but a super important notification is those open PR automations, I think we can go deeper into that.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

There could be more ways of integration, not only with GitHub to get metrics like linear example, generally a Product Owner does not have access to GitHub

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really like it, it's become very easy to check the teams' tasks on Github.
It's super easy to get the Cycle Time and Throughput, we use it very little, but a super important notification is those open PR automations, I think we can go deeper into that.

2. It integrates out of the box with all of the tools we use (Jira, Slack, GitHub)
3. It's free for our small team

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I wish there was an easier way to go from the Swarmia interface directly to a Jira story.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us an effortless way to gather DORA and other engineering metrics - no cumbersome manual calculations.

 ### 14. The perfect fit for small startups tech teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Omar S. | Senior Staff Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Working agreements and specially the slack integration, a daily good companion. Setting up swarmia is also amazing easy and . We did not have to use customer support but it seems they are worried all the time that everything is working well for you, so its a plus.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Not that i dislike because its a feature I need, and its the ability to choose reviewers from github based on load :) would be so cool!

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better communication and better productivity visibility and conversations

 ### 15. Flexible, Simple and crisp reports, within few mins can give insight of the productivity of team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

What I like best about Swarmia is its powerful analysis of GitHub PRs. It provides insights into code reviews and team performance, helping us spot bottlenecks and improve our workflow. This makes it easier to keep projects on track and deliver quality work faster. Integration and Implementation is quick and easy and you can have a quick check on daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Nothing found as such till now though I have used it for very small period of time. I think a little more intuitive UI will be better.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Can just get an overview of performance of team on regular basis and it also helps in calculating performance and speed of the development.

 ### 16. Swarmia has helped our team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manny R. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Their web app is very straightforward. The amount of help and resources available. Their slack integration. Their sweet charts and graphs

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I'd like to be able to have metrics that give more insight into developer performance to be able to leverage our best performers to motivate our worst performers

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's hard to find metrics that show team performance. Swarmia has provided us some insights we can use to look at so we can improve ourselves

 ### 17. Sophisticated developer velocity and efficacy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Drew B. | VP of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia worked out of the box. I'm minutes, after following simple instructions a few clicks, I had amazing dashboards breaking down developer contribution, deploy times, and code breakdowns.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

It's well worth the cost as is. But I'd like more detailed analysis of developer contribution. Such as tickets completed and complexity and quality of code contribution.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted additional perspective of developer velocity and overall team ability to deliver quality code quickly.

 ### 18. good but not great

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

the potential of automating dora metrics

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

the actual data that gets shown isn't what is actionable. or in some cases it references the wrong teams.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

more efficient team management by leveraging dora metrics

 ### 19. Easy to use when it works

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I like how easy it is to create the investiment balance and to get PR metrics

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

The investiment balance from Linear is not working, not enough filter options, does not get the estimations from linear, too centric on github.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keep track of the trends in my engineering teams

**Official Response from Pinja Dodik:**

> Hey there and thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately, Linear doesn’t currently support labels for projects, which is why we can’t surface them in Swarmia just yet. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on that and make improvements when the data becomes available.

I also passed your feedback on to our customer success team and they offered to hop on a call with you to see if there's anything they could do to help improve your setup, so please reach out to hello@swarmia.com to schedule a call with them.

 ### 20. Great product to help monitor and improve engineering metrics!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin B. | Senior Engineer Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I like how simple it is to be used. The configuration is pretty fast and then the product itself it's pretty intuitive.
I also like that if you never used a similar product before, swarmia has been really useful to understand what you should be tracking.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I would love to have more control over certain details. Like being able to define working hours.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to be able to measure things like Cycle time over time. With Swarmia I can objectively measure that per team and also work with them to create a plan to improve over time.

 ### 21. Super helpful on team and personal level

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jyri L. | Staff Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia is well integrated into our daily work. As a team, we review the working agreements daily and use the numerous reports to identify potential issues and bottlenecks. We also love the Slack app for keeping track of CI/CD pipelines and PR requests.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Some reports and working agreements do think that we work during weekends, and we do get some false positives, especially on Mondays

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking working agreements and monitoring. CI/CD pipelines

 ### 22. It's working like turning the lights on

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Levi T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The easy setup and quick computing the metrics. After implementing it we started shaping our culture to make iterations quicker with pipeline automations. We also transition from sprint to "sprintless" backlog process since we can have better productivity metrics. It helped us to make clearer agreements and also make it better for us to compare productivity among coworkers

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

When i started using swarmia i was disappointed with the bug insighs feature, but as i can see now, it was simproved and it's useful

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to be fair in a layoff in which we had to cut one dev from our team. We used swarmia and other data from github and jira to compare productvity of our employees and decided which one was the least performer.

After that, we decided to go sprintless, and swarmia was the tool that gave us confidence to make that change in the process.

 ### 23. Amazing value for a small team to get started with DevEx

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I really appreciate how easy it is to set up and use Swarmia, especially for a team of 10-12 engineers like mine. The UI is intuitive and provides just the right amount of information without overwhelming me with too many details. I also love that it's nicely integrated with Slack, which makes it easy to keep an eye on our team's productivity and experience. Additionally, I'm excited to use Swarmia for monthly engineering surveys, as it will help us identify areas where we can improve and make data-driven decisions.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

While I overall enjoy using Swarmia, there are a few things that could be improved. Firstly, I wish it had more filtering options to allow me to get more nuanced data insights. This would enable me to drill down into specific areas of our team's productivity and experience. Secondly, while the free plan is great for teams up to 14 developers, it gets expensive quickly when you cross that threshold. As a smaller team, this could be a barrier to adoption. Finally, I'd love to see more reporting functionality built into Swarmia, as this would enable us to easily share insights with stakeholders and make data-driven decisions.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia is helping me solve the problem of measuring and improving developer productivity and experience for my team. As a engineeing leader, I want to ensure that my engineers are working efficiently and effectively, but it can be challenging to get accurate insights into their workflows and challenges. Swarmia has been a game-changer in this regard. By providing a clear picture of our team's productivity and experience, Swarmia is helping me identify areas where we can improve and make data-driven decisions to optimize our workflow. For example, I've already used Swarmia to identify some bottlenecks in our development process and implement changes that have resulted in increased efficiency. Overall, Swarmia is benefiting my team by giving us a better understanding of how we work and providing actionable insights that we can use to improve our processes and outcomes.

 ### 24. Beautiful Data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grainger B. | VP of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia was the easiest of the tools
I trialed for tracking DORA and other engineering metrics. It also has the most appealing UI making the information meaningful and easy to digest.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Price is high. Can quickly become cost prohibitive for small teams needing advanced features.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been pursuing an effort to track engineering metrics and setup KPIs which was incredibly difficult out of the box with Jira. With a quick integration we immediately had relevant data.

 ### 25. Bringing DORA metrics to life

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The ability to view DORA metrics without much extra work

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

When there are inconsistencies in metrics it can be difficult to figure out what exactly caused the issue.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to view DORA metrics (developer productivity) by integrating the tools we use every day. There is very little extra work to view these metrics.

 ### 26. Easy to use and provides the insights you need to improve your team!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simon F. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

It's so simple to use and it was so easy to setup. The UI is intuitive and there's help/explanations on reports so you can understand what the data means. They are also continuosly adding features which has been amazing!

I use it weekly to monitor my teams progress and I have my managers using it to help improve the way we work.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Honestly none. I've used most of the competing products and this is by far the best.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I joined my current Company we had no visibility into our softare process. After setting up Swarmia and connecting we had instant visibilty and the insights into potential blockers in our delivery pipeline.

Swarmia gives us the insights we need to ensure our team is operating at the most effecient way possible. We monitor weekly and we are able to dive deeper where needed to provide feedback to the teams.

 ### 27. Simplifies pull request workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

It's very easy to use and syncs with Slack and Github nicely. It sends relevant notifications and makes managing of pull requests easy. I've not needed to contact the customer support, but they do provide introduction sessions to teams to showcase how best to leverage the platforms different features.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

To get everything out of the tool one needs to dive into the different features as there is quite a lot it can do. It's not hard, just make sure to really look into everything it really offers.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Receive relevant notifications at the right time. I was getting drowned by Githubs unnecessary and unhelpful messages and kept missing review requests / responses to comments. With Swarmia its super easy to keep track of the PR flow.
Swarmia offers some amazing metrics and simple views for really finding insights of a teams performance and workflows.

 ### 28. Swamia review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Gambling & Casinos | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Simple to use and give you a great overview of your engineering teams

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Can't list a downside at the moment, I have been having a great experience so far.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is assisting us to monitor important KPIs and track team's performance, allowing us to make adjustments when needed.

 ### 29. Great Product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I've been using Swarmia for a few months now on a weekly basis, and it has truly transformed the way my team and I manage our KPIs and leverage data. Swarmia offers a fantastic product that integrates seamlessly into our workflow and you can easily implement your reports on it, providing real-time insights and actionable metrics that have been instrumental in driving our performance.

One of the standout features of Swarmia is its ability to present complex data in a user-friendly format. This has allowed us to easily track our progress, identify bottlenecks, and make data-driven decisions.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Nothing so far, there support is very helpful. I highly recommend Swarmia to any team looking to elevate their performance and achieve better outcomes.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia has been an invaluable asset to our team. Its robust features, ease of use, and powerful analytics have significantly enhanced our ability to manage KPIs and harness the full potential of our data.

 ### 30. Great product for small teams!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The setup is very simple -- it integrates well with Github and configuration is very straightforward. New features like initiative tracking are also really nice, though I'd like to see some UX improvements and deeper Jira integration (it would be nice to have bi-directional syncing). I also really appreciate the full-featured free tier for small startups (like mine). The cost structure makes sense and we'd be willing to pay as we reach a larger scale.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

The product occassionally returns stale results. In addition, there is a lot of jira bookkeeping I need to do to make sure that work is categorized appropriately.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engineering excellence and efficiency metrics. More recently, initiative tracking with a tight connection between project management tools and version control tools.

 ### 31. Great tool to reveal potentional improvement points for your development team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia is combining information from your backlog tooling and your code repository. I our case it's Jira in combination with GitHub.

In Swarmia you can get more insight in the progress made by the team during the sprint without any additional handlings by the developers and you can identify possible blockers earlier.
When you only use Jira, then you can only see a status and pick up signals from your developers during the daily scrum ceremony.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

The risk of a tool like Swarmia is that management puts KPIs on figures where I see more value in using the figures to detect potentional issues and start the conversation with your team.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives use more insight on actual work/actions executed by developers, like commits, or PR reviews.

 ### 32. Swarmia, an app to help manage and understand engineering team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The "Work log" and "Pulls requests" parts are very useful and contains a lot a of details
My team an I use a lot the swarmia slackbot to be informed about the PR status

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Some filters like the possibility to choose between weekly, bi-weekly, monthly for example in work log part.
The pull requests analysis are not so easy to deal with, and for "time to first review" I want to have the possibility to exclude a reviewer (cause we use a bot to do a first review and that distorts the stats)

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can view quickly all the PRs in all board for our team with some informations + we can have a look on the work log to check if the team made some reviews and to prevent some PR to be forgotten

 ### 33. Great tool for giving insights into an efficient development process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

We were looking for a way for our development team to receive notifications about Github pull requests in Slack. Swarmia does this and much more.

I like the insights into the time the development team spends on different types of issues, such as bug fixing, new development, and productivity. I also enjoyed the insights into the turnaround time for our pull requests and tasks.

We use this daily, and it is super easy to set up.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

To fully benefit from all the features, you need to ensure that all users set up all the individual integrations with Slack, GitHub, etc. To be honest, this is actually not very difficult, so not much of a dislike.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary reason for adopting Swarmia was to get better integrations between Github and Slack, but today, we use it for much more. The insights into our development process, the nudges to keep to agreed processes.

 ### 34. Great product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia makes it simple to gather engineering metrics in one plac; this gives great visibility to the engineering team and helps them understand and analyse their performance, allowing them to define ways to improve. Without Swarmia, achieving the same would require a lot of manual effort and spreadsheets. Additionally, it provides a nice UX and UI and great integrations.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

At the moment, it only supports a few integrations, mainly Jira and Github. This means that certain metrics are not following industry standards, for example DORA. Adding integrations with CI/CD tools, e.g. CircleCI, and Incident Management tools, e.g. PagerDuty, Incident.io, OpsGenie, would create a much better and more complete picture.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bring most of the metrics in one place without additional manual effort required. It's benefitting me in terms of less manual effort and time saving.

 ### 35. A great tool to observe team metrics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andres M. | Engineering Manager, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The navigation experience is wonderful. It can be easily integrated with Slack and GitHub. The notifications emitted by Swarmia are pretty cool as well, specially those that let you know that a peer requested a review from you(The digest is also great).
I mainly used as a companion for my retrospectives and it felt great to seek opportunities for improvement as a team while observing those metrics.
Overall, Swarmia is handy, easy to implement and an accurate source of team metrics.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Well, there were two things that threw me off a tiny bit. The customer support is okay, but kind of delayed(perhaps due to the plan I was on, which I guess makes sense).
The other one has to do with commit squashing. It's not a feature that they support and by the time I realized we had already started running a Squashing strategy for our pull requests, which ended up harming the cycle time calculation(more exactly the WIP portion).

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous improvement is something we believe and are driven by. Which to us is why retrospectives are valuable, as a moment to reflect on how things went and what we can do to improve. The latter is crucial and that's where to me Swarmia comes in.
By using the metrics that Swarmia provided we were able to explore what things we could be improving based on the metrics we explored each cycle. The working agreements served as a way to alert our team whenever we were starting to move off track.
It also helped us prove a point while pointing out a problem that was part of our context as a team(some folks were working remotely and the time difference was playing against our Pull Request Cycle time, which was delaying the delivery of our work).

 ### 36. Great product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prem V. | Co-Founder & CTO , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Working Agreements feature is great. It sends out a daily digest giving us insights into how disciplined we are as an engineering team and it's very helpful during dev retros. Also their PR tracking combined with DORA metrics is well built.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I can't think of anything. It's been great.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helpful in tracking developer productivity metrics and engineering team velocity metrics

 ### 37. Swarmia is awesome :D

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinicius A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I learned a loooot from the insights tab, and it's the most useful, in my opinion.
I can't decide now which one I use the most, if it's the insights tab or the investments balance.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

For a small startup that relies in investments, it might be a little expensive if you invite too many people, but that 14 people range helps a lot, so thanks for that. Hope we can pay once we grow more :)

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm trying to learn and understand more about my team's productivity. And also help them be more productive and careful with the amount of work they have simultaneously.

 ### 38. Great UI/UX, but unsure about customization

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The design and user interface is world-class. The integration with Jira and GitHub is really powerful.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I can't tell if it's possible to create custom dashboards unique to a team that show metrics/graphs from various categories.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us easily track deployment frequency and investment balance using the Jira and GitHub integrations.

 ### 39. Great Product, Ridiculous Pricing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaac P. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

- Easy to set up
- Decent metrics product
- Excellent pull request notifications / slack intergration

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

- Pricing is out to lunch (same price as github enterprise for their lite plan)

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Provide notifications to developers of pull requests where their review is required
- Track progress for projects
- Keep on top of cycle time and review time metrics

 ### 40. Excellent tool to see what to improve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Ability to see how your team is doing overall and where the efforts are going. specially like the feature about Investment balance that categorizes the work based on whether its a new work, enhancement, keeping the lights on etc. and Also what was planned and what was not planned.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Investment balance can be improved a lot using AI to do finer categorisation. Lot of activities still go as uncategorized. also PLanned and unplanned work can be improved by looking at current sprints etc.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Measuring the engineering activites and be able to see a finer view of how things are evolving. Able to find the areas of improvements.

 ### 41. Easy Setup, Useful Metrics and Great Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Swarmia setup with straightforward as it integates with our tools out of the box. I liked the support of DORA Metrics and the different options avaibale to feed the deployment and incident data to Swarmia. Other features I like are Investment Balance and Work Agreements

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Few things can be improved but nothing major I can think of now

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia provides us with the required insights about our work. We have more vsisbility over what is going on with our teams and services. Things like DORA and Investment Balance are used to further improve our ways of working and align with the business objectives

 ### 42. Great github integration for slack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The slack integration to know when someone approve/review/comment my Pull Requests on Github is awesome.

Also the view with PR Throughput is great to know how fast we merge and how long a PR stays open, to easily find bottlenecks.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

The UI is hard to navigate. The sidebar horrible. I honnestly almost never go to the dashboard.

Data is only given as average, while a p50 / p90 / p95 / p99 would be wayyyy more useful to review PR merge time, as there are often 1 or 2 outsider PRs that take ages to merge.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To get notifications from github directly in slack, and get metrics about our PRs.

 ### 43. Really useful to track the progress of my projects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I really like the developer overview, it alows me to have a great overview of what i've accomplished during the previous weeks.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I can sometime be hard to understand how to use the app or the differents graphs and what they mean, even though when you get it they are quite helpful

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It alows me to keep track with precision of the evolution of my project and my tasks, it's also really helpful when i need to talk about my progress with my manager

 ### 44. Useful product for tracking Github PRs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

PR/Contribution metrics dsahboard for across all organisation repos. Slack integration.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

Autoclosing Pull Request based on the number of days it has sent Slack messages for.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking Github PRs/Contribution metrics

 ### 45. Very impressed so far with how simple and useful swarmia has been

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

The integration with slack + github, which keeps the team up-to-date with any new PRs and the review status of them makes keeping track of them so much easier. Also, the overall statistics we get about the team give us metrics that help us get a view of the health of our engineering team. It also required very little in terms of setup.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

ideally, more if it would be configurable via an API, that way we could administer it using Infra-as-code tools in the same way as other products we use

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

visibilty on PRs and engineering team health metrics

 ### 46. Swarmia is the engineering metrics platform that you always wanted but could not find

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg S. | Head of Software Platforms Terawatt Infrastructure., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

- Simple to setup. Connect your issue tracker, your source control and let the magic happen
- No need to change your agile process
- Data is collected and available within minutes
- Combo of DORA and SAFE metrics in 1 platform
- The team loves the Slack integration - especially PR reminders
- Support resolves issues in 24 hours
- So many insights and the UX is easy for entire team to understand.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

- I wish they had a direct integration into CircleCI for releases. We were able to work around it by using the API. But it took extra work
- For the stage and size of company, Swarmia is perfect. I could see a really large team needed more complex functionality

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to track SAFE and DORA metrics to help measure the team to hold everyone accountable. The worklog insights is super value to help with team happiness and not working alone on projects.

 ### 47. Single pane of glass for your engineering team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

I like that I am able to view the activity across our team to find out where work is being blocked and where untracked work comes from. The pull request tab allows a quick look into active work that may need attention.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I dislike that I can only split metrics based on individuals in teams rather than by repositories. Each codebase comes with a different flavour of process so performance of a team can vary depending on the system they are working on currently. Being able to see metrics based on repository would help identify system improvements more easily.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Swarmia helps to uncover the activity across our engineering organisation so we can track the performance of our teams and processes, ideally identifying blockers before they become an issue in our development pipeline and uncovering untracked work that might be getting more or less attention than it deserves.

 ### 48. Swarmia experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

It's good tool to track the metrics suck as github pr, deployments, jira and slack updates. we can classify by teams or groups or individuals.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

By default deployment configurations is taken automatically only using github actions.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

issue trackers, updates from teams, indivials and at organization level.

 ### 49. Really good user experience the insights this tool gives on our developer performance is incredible

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ♟️Andreas F. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Really easy to set up, integrations with JIRA and Github out of the box. We are using it extensively and it's already part of our daily routine. The out of the box experience is enough for our use case.

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

I do not have any complaints / bad experiences with the product so far.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multiple problems: keeping track of the software development performance at an organisation and team level, clearly seeing at a glance the investment in various development categories, Slack integration to allow our developers to be notified about progress.

 ### 50. Director of Program Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emmy M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Swarmia?**

Being able to leverage Jira & Github connection to power our engineering team insights is huge. It provides more data points that allow for more objective decision making. As a program manager, the new feature Organization - Initiatives helps provide a quick overview and stats on which initiative I may need to focus more time. Customer support is also very quick to respond and helpful in adding enhancements!

**What do you dislike about Swarmia?**

There are certain pages where there may be too much load on querying the data, the page crashes. This primarily happens when I'm on the worklog section and switching between teams and issue types.

**What problems is Swarmia solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the program management department, I need to leverage stats to provide a data-driven QBR on our R&D efforts. For example providing the breakdown of investment categories allow me to share areas we may need to decrease or increase our allocation (eg. spending too much time on KTLO, less on Innovation/Enhancements). Looking back to an initiative and seeing which story took longer within the epic and comparing that to the story point estimates can help plan similar initiatives more accurately.
