"Great for managing onprem + cloud Kubernetes clusters"
5/5
What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?

SUSE Rancher is widely-used and it supports all major cloud providers and on-premise Kubernetes clusters. It gives one management plane for all clusters, a common place to authenticate, do API calls (via Terraform, curl or Rancher CLI) and have role-based access via SAML, Active Directory and others. Regularly updated to the newest Kubernetes versions. Knowledgable support organization. Easy to implement, does not require consultants, can just read their online docs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?

The support is good, but how support subscription costs are calculated has changed a couple times in the last couple years. It was node-based, but is now CPU-based. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Huw Wigley of SUSE Rancher

We appreciate you sharing such positive sentiment. Thank you.

We work hard to ensure our documentation makes implementation as easy as possible.

What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?

SUSE Cloud Observability (SCO) offers several strong features, but what stands out most—and what users often appreciate best—is its deep integration with Kubernetes and cloud-native environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?

Cost variability Pay-as-you-go model may result in unexpected expenses for high-volume usage.

Learning curve Requires familiarity with Kubernetes/OpenTelemetry; initial setup can be involved.

Missing RED signals Errors and Duration metrics not available out of the box—requires additional setup.

Competitor strengths Tools like Datadog and AppDynamics may offer richer logging, alerting, or database monitoring out of the box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?

Open approach to be able to integrate other solutions, adoption does not imply giving up integrating other tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?

There are two levels of support; for development environments or horizontal scaling, it might make more sense to go with the community version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rancher - and finally the power is with us ... and it keeps growing"
5/5
What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?

It is impossible to remain indifferent towards Rancher. Either one loves and accepts him in his entirety, or hates him precisely for what it is .... and it is open, good, versatile, with huge possibilities and potential to use :) Its main advantages in my opinion are openness, massive community support, freedom to change and adapt to the required needs. In addition, its well-thought-out design and well-directed development fits the needs of the market and the changing IT environment. Currently also available, the Prime and Suite versions are a comprehensive offer for companies, including a complete environment for creating containerization and virtualization platforms anywhere with many add-ons such as security, storage, observability and application collection (SLSA) and many more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?

The environment is constantly evolving and providing new functionalities, so any potential problems and shortcomings are a natural consequence of this development, especially since it is a platform for managing entire ecosystems across all infrastructure variants. In the current phase of its development, it is achieving ever-increasing stability and maturity, offering more and more interesting flavors, especially in enterprise offerings. What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?

I was stunned to use rancher in my workplace through which we can implement security container strategy very easily in just click of a button. Very easy to use and Comfortable UI whivh is very helpful for me in my beginning stage of this application. Best Feature i loved is the live logs and REST APIs which we can consume to use rancher with integration of our services. Its Multilingual Support was very helpful in our Workplace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?

Rancher can increase the time limit for the logging out of the app it is a bit annoying, they can also introduce k8s solutions which is missing in the rancher. Sometime i face reload issue reloads take a lot of time to load the application and also Multi- tenancy Feature is a must which must be improved a bit. Backing Up can be confusing on the Rancher sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
