It made our survey more complete in what we were looking for to receive input from our members. **What do you dislike about SurveyMonkey?** I didn't like the limitations and cost of needing a subscription. The price seemed exorbitant for having more than 10 questions and more than 25 responses. For small businesses or groups, this cost is much too high to continue using. Plus, when the subscriptions ended, I lost access to the additional responses I paid to receive through our timeframe. I understand why but think that once the subscription was paid, the user should keep the access to the information gained during that subscription period. **What problems is SurveyMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?** SurveyMonkey solves having a central location for both taking the survey and gathering all responses. ### 2. I understand the need to pay for services delivered however I do not understand the lack of flexibility. Because I paid upfront for 12 months I am not eligible to cancel the subscription for a pro rata refund. Then come to find out, their employee engagement survey template is missing tons of the typical (reliable and valid) questions used by every other vendor and they only have benchmarks for about half of the questions they do have. The layout of their questions/answers is inconsistent, which was embarassing until I figured out how to fix it. Their customer support for customers on the Premier plan is lacking - it's very hard to get ahold of someone and the answer is usually, "Sorry, no, you can't." **What problems is SurveyMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?** We bought it as a white label product for employee engagement surveys, but have been very disappointed and will not renew. ### 7. I was told that it was not possible, that I was locked into a full year. If you want to see more than 10, you must upgrade (my least expensive option was $99). Why have a free plan that is completely useless? **What problems is SurveyMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed a platform for the public to vote at our annual competition. The survey I created looked great and displayed nicely. If only it were free, as they claimed - unlimited responses on the "free plan" are useless without access to them. I only run 1-2 surveys per year, so their pricing is too expensive for such light use. I would have found someone else if SurveyMonkey hadn't deceptively differentiated between unlimited responses and ACCESS to the unlimited responses. My survey results are held hostage until I pay the extortion. ### 17. I recommend everyone use Google Forms -- not many bells and whistles, BUT not a scam where you develop a survey and then have to upgrade to use it. The was no flex on this and the customer service around this was increasingly poor. No phone number unless you pay a premium for it. I signed up for a paid account listed as $25/month with cancellation at any time. I was charged $468 dollars with a refusal to refund any funds. After several emails, the only response I have recieved is "sorry, we don't do refunds." You can't call to speak with someone unless you pay MORE. 0/10 would never use again or recommend. Except, I've now paid for use for a year, so I guess I'll bombard people with surveys to get use of the platform (which I don't need). Survey monkey makes it vague which features are paid and not. So you get to the end of your survey, ready to send out, and only find out then that there is a paywall. Highly fustrating. Unfortunately, I was forced into purchasing a $50 plan due to a flaw in the system that allows people to answer surveys though does not allow the author to view results unless you pay. In my opinion, your friends, colleagues, clients should not be allowed to answer a survey(if it's not part of a "plan" that can accommodate responess. I am of the firm belief that a note/notification should be sent to the author that an 'upgrade' is needed before harboring and locking your data away. I was 100% not made aware of this limitation and had very poor responses from customer service. The only option to get my data, after my clients responded to the survey, was to pay a $50 fee. This is clearly a violation of rights and I will be pursuing further action to remedy the situation. If I was in the EU this would be a non-issue as there are protections in place. Clearly, as their policies change country to country to allow for this locking away of data, they are trying to price gouge and ensure max profits. I am only filling out this box because it is a required addition to the review. **What do you dislike about SurveyMonkey?** This website is absolute garbage. I am a public school teacher. I wanted to use the free version to conduct one survey with my students in order to better my teaching practice. I avoided using any paid features as I live on a teacher's salary and cannot afford extra expenses. Little did I know that if you go to the page where it compares versions you are informed that they will WITHHOLD responses from you behind a pay wall. I have over 150 students and I will only be able to read 10 of their responses. Otherwise I need to pay them $50 for the privilege of reading text that my students have already filled out for me. It would cost them nothing to give me the information I need, however their customer service team has been decidedly unhelpful. However, their new "Device Verification" feature is designed precisely to prevent this, which disrupted the way that we have used the application for years. Their solution to the problem is that I could buy a team account with three users at triple the cost of my individual plan. We send only a small number of surveys per year and upgrading to the team plan would have driven our cost per survey response to a crazy level around $30.
