Compared to the other platforms I have tried, SuperAnnotate has an intuitive interface. It was straightforward to get familiar with the different functions and tools that the platform provides. In annotation mode, keyboard shortcuts make the annotation process more efficient, and image adjustment tools (like brightness and contrast) are helpful when annotating images of varying quality. The different image statuses are useful for an internal workflow between me and my colleagues. It is easy to navigate amongst the thousands of images in our dataset - both in annotation mode and outside. This has been very useful in situations where I have had to find specific images to make some changes to the dataset. The SuperAnnotate platform solves a common problem that computer vision researchers encounter, which is the rapid curation of expert annotations. Given the limited training data in medical imaging datasets, I often start with image segmentation based on expert annotations. Previously, I cobbled together several different tools for annotation, quality control, and neural network training but it was cumbersome to switch between different software and intermediate annotation masks. My favorite aspect of SuperAnnotate is the integrated, streamlined workflow AI-augmented annotation, quality control, and neural network training. Note: I have left a review on TrustPilot with similar content, although the wording has been changed to avoid self-plagiarism. Updated review 2024-02-16: I'm still using SuperAnnotate and it has been crucial to make progress on several projects. They have continued to innovate developing new annotation features such as MagicSelect and Magic polygon. The shortcuts for annotating images are intuitive and speed up my workflow. Their annotation teams have been timely and efficient, following detailed instructions. I have been very happy with their services. **What do you dislike about SuperAnnotate?** My initial concern was that I could not upload annotation masks that were generated manually or on other platforms. However, the team rapidly introduced a feature to upload annotation masks for use in the platform, which meant I could leverage existing annotations from previous projects. Updated review 2024-02-16: The team has been responsive to feedback with continuous development and integration of new features. Uploading pre-annotations has been easy using their SDK. From the sales team to the demo team to customer support, they have been great the whole time. We recently gained access to the SDK from support for trying out a few features not available in the UI as well as for improving our pipeline, and it works like a charm. It's clear SA is looking for their users to succeed. - Great tools. We're currently in the process of annotating for a niche, industrial defect detection use case, and the open source tools were simply not cutting it for collaborating. Additionally, the auto-annotation tools get the correct major object perfectly about 99% of the time. Leveraging the auto-annotation also sped up the defect annotation as well. This has streamlined our annotation process significantly. **What do you dislike about SuperAnnotate?** - Occasionally, the UI isn't clear whether you are actually clicking to automatically "link" a new annotation to an existing one, and undoing it requires backtracking through multiple automatically attached points. Changing the cursor to an "X" or a different color to indicate you would be leveraging an existing annotation would be great, as would allowing one click to undo it if done by mistake. - It's not currently possible to export one folder's worth of annotations - as far as I can tell. But more importantly, the SuperAnnotate team is very involved and takes the lead on ensuring we get quality labels. Other solutions we've used in the past required constant supervision and involvement from one of our engineers to get quality labels. But w/ SuperAnnotate one of their team manages our project and shepherds it to completion, while still allowing us to get as involved as we want / have time to be. **What do you dislike about SuperAnnotate?** While some other labeling services let you get started with small batches before committing to the service, that's not possible with SuperAnnotate. While the SuperAnnotate team worked with us to get to a price level we were comfortable with, the level of commitment required might not work for everyone.
