**What do you like best about Supabase?**

What I like best about Supabase is how quickly it allows development teams to build and deploy a production-ready backend without spending significant time managing infrastructure. I've used Supabase for web applications that required authentication, PostgreSQL database management, real-time data synchronization, and API development. The platform's dashboard is intuitive and made it easy to manage database tables, user access, and application configuration from a single interface.

Integration with modern frameworks was straightforward, and features such as Row Level Security, database migrations, and built-in authentication helped reduce development effort while maintaining security. Performance has been reliable, even as application usage increased, and the managed PostgreSQL foundation provides confidence in scalability.

Pricing is competitive compared to other backend-as-a-service platforms, particularly for startups and small teams that need room to grow without a large upfront investment. The documentation is thorough, onboarding is smooth, and new developers can become productive quickly.

I also appreciate how well Supabase supports modern AI and data-driven applications. **What do you dislike about Supabase?**

The primary challenge I've experienced with Supabase is cost management when supporting multiple projects and environments. In my case, I've used separate Supabase instances for different applications and stages, including production and pre-production environments. While the free tier is excellent for development and proof-of-concept work, costs can increase as projects require their own databases, authentication services, storage, and higher resource limits.

I've also found that running separate environments for testing and production is the right architectural approach, but it can increase operational costs compared to a single-project setup. As usage grows and more users, data, or AI-related workloads are added, it's important to actively monitor consumption and plan accordingly.

That said, I still view Supabase as a strong value. The platform eliminates much of the effort associated with database administration, authentication, API development, and backend infrastructure management. For projects such as AI-powered applications and workflow automation tools, the productivity gains and faster delivery timelines have outweighed the additional costs in my experience.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supabase solves the problem of building and maintaining backend infrastructure from scratch. In the projects I've developed, including AI-powered applications and workflow automation tools, I was able to use Supabase as the central backend for PostgreSQL databases, user authentication, data storage, and API access without having to provision or manage separate infrastructure components.

Instead of spending time setting up and maintaining databases, authentication providers, API layers, and hosting services individually, Supabase provided these capabilities in a single platform. This significantly reduced development time and allowed me to focus on application features rather than backend operations.

Features such as managed PostgreSQL, built-in authentication, auto-generated APIs, and centralized project management simplified both development and ongoing maintenance. **What do you like best about Supabase?**

It's a real Postgres database, so I'm never boxed in. I can write proper queries when I need real answers, not just what a limited tool allows.  Row-level security lets me scope access properly (I built a read-only role for our Metabase reporting layer, and separate scoped roles for different schemas) without maintaining a separate auth/permissions service. The dual-schema support has also been valuable for keeping staging and core data cleanly separated in one project rather than spinning up multiple databases. Combined with the dashboard for direct table/data inspection, it's made verifying data quality mid-build (checking a contractor's work against source data) fast instead of a multi-tool ordeal.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

Some permission setups aren't obvious. Granting proper access for certain schemas took trial-and-error to get right. Row-level security rules also weren't straightforward to configure correctly the first time. Documentation could be clearer on these edge cases, so I ended up relying on testing things directly to confirm they actually worked.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're pulling data from multiple business systems into one central place instead of it living scattered across separate tools. Supabase acts as that central hub, letting us build reporting dashboards in Metabase that leadership can actually trust and giving different tools scoped access to just the data they need.  Supabase is saving us from stitching together several separate services to make this project work.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

I like the fact that Supabase is a SQL-based database, which makes it easy for me to query. The UI/UX is very simple, which I appreciate. They have lots of integrations with different products, which adds to its utility for me. Supabase is open source and free, with a very good free tier, which allows me to use it for most of my client apps without additional costs. It's quite easy to use, particularly since it integrates directly with FlutterFlow, and the initial setup was straightforward because it was just an API token-based integration.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

I think Supabase should focus more on the analytics part where I can query the data and create analytical dashboards then and there. This would increase the utility.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Supabase for my app's relational database structure, and I find it easy to query as it’s SQL-based. It integrates well with Flutterflow, is open-source and free, and its simple UI/UX enhances my workflow.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

What I like most about Supabase is that it gives you a real Postgres database with authentication, realtime, storage, and edge functions all in one place—without hiding the SQL underneath. You still keep full control through triggers, row-level security, and policies, so you’re never locked out of how things actually work. It also made it easy to ship features quickly, like handling secure user creation with an edge function instead of having to stand up a whole separate backend.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

What I dislike most is that security depends almost entirely on row-level security being configured correctly. The anon key is public by design, so if RLS policies are missing, incomplete, or misconfigured, your data can be exposed—and it’s easy to miss until it’s too late. I’d also appreciate clearer guardrails and more explicit warnings around this, along with a smoother, more straightforward way to manage environment secrets and multi-environment setups (dev/staging/prod).

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supabase solves the backend-in-a-box problem: instead of separately standing up a database, authentication, realtime updates, file storage, and serverless functions, it's all integrated on top of a real Postgres database. That let us move fast — we shipped auth, a business/employee registration flow, and secure server-side user creation (via an edge function with the service role key) without building and hosting a custom backend.
The biggest benefit is speed without lock-in: we still have real SQL, triggers, and row-level security underneath, so we control exactly how data behaves and who can access it. Realtime sync across devices came essentially for free, which matters for a live restaurant system where orders and tables update constantly.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

Supabase has been the backbone of an internal lead-automation tool I built for our sales ops team. The combination of a Postgres database with instant REST/RLS-backed APIs meant I could ship features fast without hand-rolling a backend — row-level security policies made it easy to control per-row delete permissions, and the auto-generated APIs saved significant dev time. Real-time capabilities also made it simple to show live progress tracking to end users without building a separate websocket layer.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

Environment variable naming can get error-prone during deployment — small typos in variable names (especially copy-pasting between the Supabase dashboard and Vercel) have occasionally cost debugging time. A more guided setup flow for connecting env vars to hosting platforms like Vercel would help.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supabase is used in launching our internal agents that we create through n8n and we use vercel to host the platform. We have solved problem statements such as MRE manual task removed by creating auto enrichment agent, paid activity and ROI tracking for inbound leads etc

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

This is an amazing backend AI software. It didn’t even take many minutes to set up my backend, and I like knowing I can still scale it or customize things later as the product grows. I’ve also integrated it with Lovable.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

I stuck with Supabase because it’s not that expensive. It includes backups and the usual maintenance, and the database is always up and running. I don’t pay based on usage; I pay a fixed price and get what I expect. I don’t have the time to manage my own setup, and it’s not needed for me. I’m super happy with them.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s fast to get started with. I’d say it’s great for validating an idea quickly, but things can change as you scale unless you’re able to keep up with the pricing. I ended up migrating all my SaaS over to my own stack with self hosted postgres+minio+keycloak+mailcow. For a solo founder with 1–2 products, it should serve you well, especially since you can only have 2 active projects at a time.

What I like most about Supabase is how quickly it lets you go from an idea to a production-ready application. Having PostgreSQL, authentication, storage, real-time features, edge functions, and a clean API all in one platform eliminates a lot of the infrastructure work that usually slows development down.

The developer experience is excellent—the documentation is clear, the dashboard is intuitive, and integrating it with modern frameworks is straightforward. I also appreciate that it’s built on open-source technologies, so you’re not locked into a proprietary ecosystem.

Overall, Supabase has significantly reduced development time for my projects while providing a reliable, scalable backend that’s easy to manage.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

While my overall experience has been very positive, there are a few areas that could improve. Some advanced features still require digging through the documentation or community discussions, and debugging database policies (especially Row Level Security) can have a steeper learning curve than expected.

As projects become more complex, I’d also like to see even more built-in monitoring, performance insights, and administrative tools. That said, Supabase is evolving quickly, and many of these areas continue to improve with each release.

Supabase solves the challenge of building and maintaining a modern backend without having to piece together multiple services. Instead of managing separate providers for authentication, databases, storage, APIs, and real-time functionality, everything is available in a single platform.

I can prototype and launch applications much faster, spend less time on infrastructure management, and focus more on building product features that deliver value. **What do you like best about Supabase?**

The Supabase UX is excellent for someone who is relatively new to databases and user authentication management. It is also easy for me to integrate with AI agents and coding tools that simplify my workflows or enable faster debugging. For the price - it's one of the best values for database management as well. I don't have a tremendous amount of traffic to my app, but it handles the requests for 2FA and logins very smoothly. I haven't needed any support yet from the Supabase team, but the UI looks like it would be simple to set up a request when needed.

So far I haven't found anything I don't like. It's been relatively easy to use.

It's made it very easy for a beginner to jump in with the help of AI to set up database and user management for an in-development mobile app.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

The table editor UI is awesome, it literally feels like using an online spreadsheet but automatically gives you working REST APIs for your tables. For college hardware projects where we hook up microcontrollers like the ESP8266 or ESP32 to log real-time data from various sensors, Supabase is an absolute lifesaver. The free tier is incredibly generous for students building prototypes. The best part is the real-time data streaming feature; we can see our live sensor logs updating on a web interface instantly without messing around with complicated web socket code from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

The platform dashboard can take a long time to load properly if the college hostel Wi-Fi network is lagging. Also, while the documentation for JavaScript or web frameworks is solid, finding direct, official documentation or simple code examples for C++ or Arduino to push data directly from a microcontroller can be quite annoying. We usually have to rely on third-party GitHub libraries or write raw HTTP requests, which takes extra time to debug during tight project deadlines.

It completely saves our team from the headache of deploying and maintaining a dedicated backend server just to store a few rows of sensor readings. We can set up a secure relational database with working authentication in under 5 minutes. This allows us to focus entirely on building our actual hardware logic, fixing circuit wiring, and perfecting the project prototype instead of wasting days troubleshooting backend server infrastructure before final lab evaluations.

What I like most is how quickly I was able to get started. I was building an SEO rank tracker and needed a PostgreSQL database without spending time managing servers. Setting up the database, creating tables, and connecting it to n8n was straightforward.

The biggest challenge for me was understanding some of the security settings, especially Row Level Security. It is a powerful feature, but there is definitely a learning curve if you are new to it. I had to spend some time reading the documentation and trying different approaches before I got it right.

Supabase solved the problem of setting up and managing a database for my project. I was building an SEO rank tracker that collects keyword rankings on a schedule, and I needed a reliable place to store and query that data. Instead of spending time configuring a database server, I was able to create the database, connect it to n8n, and start collecting data quickly.

It also made reporting much easier. Since the data is stored in PostgreSQL, I could connect it directly to Looker Studio and build dashboards without exporting CSV files or writing complex scripts. That let me spend more time improving the project instead of managing the infrastructure.

What I appreciate most is how quickly I could go from an idea to a working backend without having to set up a separate auth service, database, and API layer. I built a sales management platform for my team almost entirely on Supabase—Postgres, auth, and the auto-generated APIs saved me from writing a ton of boilerplate. The dashboard is genuinely usable, too; I can jump in and check or edit table data directly while debugging, without needing a separate DB client.

Row-level security took a bit to wrap my head around at first, but once it clicked, it made role-based access (managers vs. executives, in my case) much simpler than writing all that logic manually on the backend. And the fact that it works so well with Next.js and Vercel made deployment painless. I didn’t have to think about infrastructure at all, which mattered a lot since I was building and shipping features solo, pretty much daily.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

The biggest issue I ran into was with caching behavior in Next.js. I hit a really frustrating bug where internal fetch() calls inside my API route handlers were being cached by Next.js, so I’d get stale data back from my Supabase queries even after the underlying data had changed. It took me quite a while to track down the root cause, and I ultimately had to manually pass a no-cache override to my Supabase client just to force fresh reads.

This isn’t really Supabase’s fault directly, but clearer documentation around this interaction—or a built-in flag to help prevent it—would’ve saved me hours.

It's basically solved the "I need a backend but don't have time to build one" problem for me. I'm building a sales management platform for my team and Supabase gives me database, auth, and APIs all in one place instead of me stitching together separate services. That's saved me a ton of dev time, which matters a lot since I'm shipping features almost daily while also managing my actual sales team day-to-day. It basically let me be a one-person backend team without needing to be a backend expert.

The thing that stands out most is how much it speeds up the early stages of building a product. Getting a Postgres database, authentication, and auto-generated APIs running takes minutes instead of days, which matters a lot when you're validating an idea or working with a small team. The dashboard is clean and doesn't get in the way — I can browse tables, write SQL, and manage users without switching between five different tools.
I also appreciate that it's built on standard Postgres rather than some proprietary database layer. It's a good alternative to Firebase, and the free tier is very generous for hobby projects, so I can try new ideas.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

What I like most about Supabase is how it brings so many backend essentials into one place. You get a full Postgres database along with Auth, Storage, Realtime, auto-generated REST APIs, Edge Functions, and vector support, which means you don’t have to stitch together a bunch of separate services just to get a product off the ground. That’s a big win when you want to move fast while still building on top of Postgres.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

Supabase has quotas across many areas, but once you exceed those limits you can still run into overages for things like storage, realtime, and Edge Function invocations. Compute is billed separately per project server. The spend cap can help reduce surprises from unexpected usage, but it doesn’t apply to every billing category, including compute.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This benefits me because it lets me build and ship much faster. I spend less time on backend plumbing and less time maintaining custom infrastructure, while still keeping the flexibility of SQL and Postgres as the app grows. It’s especially useful for MVPs and products where I want to move quickly, without giving up too much control over data and permissions.

**What do you like best about Supabase?**

Honestly, the biggest thing for us is Postgres as the source of truth, with RLS doing most of the auth work. We ship a React Native app on Expo, and instead of building a separate API layer plus auth middleware, row-level security policies handle about 90% of access control directly in the database. When we add a new table, we write the policy once and the client can query it via the JS SDK—no controllers, no DTOs, and no glue code.

Phone OTP auth was the other huge win. We’re India-first and phone-first, and Supabase Auth ships with phone OTP out of the box. You plug in an SMS provider and you’re basically done. It probably saved us around two weeks of building and maintaining our own auth flow.

The dashboard SQL editor sounds boring, but I use it 10x a day. When something looks off in prod, I open the editor, run a query, and fix a row. No SSH tunnel and no separate admin panel. Saved queries and history are genuinely useful when you’re debugging the same data shapes over and over.

Edge Functions in Deno have been great for webhook handlers and cron jobs. supabase functions serve gives you real local-to-prod parity, so the dev loop stays fast. And the local CLI stack (Postgres + Studio in Docker) means we never have to touch prod data while testing schema changes.

Pricing is the kicker: Postgres + auth + storage + edge functions on the Pro plan costs less than Firebase alone would for our usage.

**What do you dislike about Supabase?**

After running this in production, I’ve hit a few real pain points.

Cold starts on Edge Functions are noticeable. The first invocation after idle can take 800ms–1.5s, which is rough for user-facing endpoints. We’ve ended up keeping functions warm with a cron, but that feels more like a workaround than a real solution. The dashboard performance also drops once a table gets past a few hundred thousand rows. On our largest table, opening the table editor is sluggish enough that I usually switch to the SQL editor instead.

Support on the free/Pro tier is limited to community Discord and GitHub Discussions. That’s fine for general questions, but it’s slow when you run into something blocking in prod. Paid support is gated behind the Team plan, which is a steep jump from Pro. We’ve had a couple of incidents where I would’ve happily paid per incident for a direct response.

The Supabase AI assistant in Studio is hit-or-miss. For SQL, it’s decent for simple queries, but it hallucinates surprisingly often on schema-aware questions, suggesting columns or joins that don’t exist in our schema. In practice, Cursor + the Supabase MCP has been more useful day to day than the in-dashboard assistant.

The migrations workflow has rough edges too. The db diff sometimes generates noisy diffs that include things you didn’t change (like default value reformats or trigger reorderings), so you end up hand-editing migration files more than you should.

**What problems is Supabase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a backend stack for our React Native app that didn’t require us to run our own infrastructure. Supabase replaced what would have been a Node/Express API, Auth0, S3, a managed Postgres host, and a job runner—all consolidated into a single platform with one CLI and one dashboard.

The Postgres ecosystem integration is a big part of why this works for us. We can stick with standard pg tooling, standard migrations, and standard SQL—there’s no proprietary query language to learn. And when we need Postgres extensions like pgvector, pg_cron, or PostGIS, they’re essentially a click away. On the client side, the Expo/React Native SDK plugs in cleanly: auth, realtime subscriptions, and storage uploads all work without us having to build and maintain a wrapper layer.

The practical payoff is speed. As a small team, we can ship features at a pace that would otherwise require a dedicated backend engineer. A feature that needs a new table, an auth-gated endpoint, file storage, and a webhook handler used to mean a week of glue code; with Supabase, it’s more like an afternoon. That time saved goes straight back into product work, which is what matters most at our stage.

It's a shame that a lot of the admin UI isn't open source and won't work with other postgres instances other than those hosted on supabase. Pricing can be hard to calculate and monitor. Row level security is not clear. Seems to have additional features not needed in most production DBs.
