Also, the aggregation tool is greatly useful to create step-by-step complex extractions of data. **What do you dislike about Studio 3T?** I have had problems using the aggregation tool when a step it's excluded from the pipeline and saved to a file. Another great feature is the AI Helper which allows you to write queries in your native language and let AI do the rest. **What do you dislike about Studio 3T?** Writing long queries in the window makes it hard to track open/close parens, curlys, and brackets. E.g. using a live MongoDB database and migration to postgres with scheduled export is good, but if records change within Mongo, the data has to be re-exported as a new row in postgres and old record manually deleted using scripts in postgres. I much prefer using an integrated shell over a query builder. It allows me to reuse queries in code. Often I develop queries in Studio 3T and bring them over into my code when I'm happy with the results. **What do you dislike about Studio 3T?** I find the integrated shell to be a little clunky/buggy. It tries to assist by doing things like automatically adding closing quotes when I create an opening quote. I find it often creates a closing quote when I don't actually need one. **What problems is Studio 3T solving and how is that benefiting you?** Studio 3T really makes it easy to get an overview of my data quickly. Being able to switch between the table view & JSON view quickly is extremely helpful. I also really like that the JSON view shows raw JSON. In MongoDB Compass nested arrays are by default collapsed. In Studio 3T I can see a whole document more easily. The integrated shell is also very good. I MUCH prefer using it over a query builder. I wrote MQL often in code. It's easier for me to write MQL in Studio 3T over using the query builder. I appreciate the ability to view almost all data in a table format and be able to "step into" embedded fields within documents. Multiple views are catered toward basic find queries to more complex shell-based queries. The aggregation editor is also very useful by providing the ability to enable/disable each stage of the query as well as being able to preview the results at each stage, which to do manually with a query would require a lot of commenting/uncommenting effort. Again, being able to view this in table-form is very helpful. I love the ability to save opened tabs/queries when closing/reopening the software. Overall, there's no other software that even competes with Studio 3T in this realm and it's definitely the most polished experience out there. **What do you dislike about Studio 3T?** Probably because it's platform independent, the UI is written in a way that has very poor performance (I've experienced this on Win/Mac/Linux) consistently over the years. The code suggestion capability sometimes brings my machine to a crawl when I have 10-15 tabs open. I wish there were an easy way to disable it without compromising the ability to view the data in a table. I don't need code hints most of the time and when it takes 3-5 seconds to type each character in on a simple 10 line query, it gets difficult to use. Sometimes it just requires a restart of the application, so could be a memory leak. But regardless, one can always tell when software is written using native UI components (it's just so smooth) compared to interpreted ones. I'd also love a shortcut for typing object ids, for instance in a query such as { _id: ObjectId('deadbeefdeadbeefdeabeef') } I could instead type { _id: 'deadbeefdeadbeefdeadbeef' }. In 2020, when I was assigned the first task, I was supposed to work on MongoDB, and the Studio3T tool was being used. It hardly took me 15 minutes to understand this software, and I could create my first DB connection without any hurdles. It's fast, and new features are added constantly. Another thing that I love about Studio3T is the visual query builder. The visual query builder is fantastic. It's very easy to add constraints and variables to my data queries. **What do you dislike about Studio 3T?** There are a few aspects of this GUI that I didn't like: - Sometimes, unexpected crashes occur without any reason. - In the case of large document models, the result grid may be slow; in our situation, a document may include more than 10k fields, which may cause performance issues. - Pricing is relatively higher for Indian users. - It is complicated to figure out which JSON Export is the standard. **What problems is Studio 3T solving and how is that benefiting you?** As far as I've used this tool, it's solving a few problems, some of which are as follows: 1. It assists in managing configurations. 2. Comparing other tools and methodologies, changing records for development and other functionalities is substantially faster if we are usign Studio3T. The visual query builder isn't as powerful as I'd like. The predictive text doesn't pick up the field names if you're in a sub-query or a nested field. The UI generally just feels a little clunky. It's a helpful layer on top of MongoSH, allowing me to leave many tabs open for queries that I use frequently and browse the results visually. My work revolves around a customer facing application and I need test data to play during development. I use Studio 3T to find customers in various states, and to check the results of changes my code makes. The software makes it easy to do so, the syntax checking makes it easy to write mongo queries, even though I'm no mongo expert.
