## Storyblok Reviews
 ### 1. Migrated from WordPress – a great business decision.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pawel L. | Head of Growth, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Ease of use even for a non-technical person
Customer support
A lot of integration
Modern, sleek, intuitive panel

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Price increases two times during two years of using it

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Storyblok as our CMS platform, having migrated from WordPress over two years ago. The difference has been significant. The biggest advantage we’ve experienced is the amount of time we now spend on content management and landing page creation. Thanks to the block components, managing existing pages and creating new ones is incredibly easy and fast, even for non-technical users. In total, we have migrated over 200 pages from our old WordPress site to Storyblok, and it was one of the best decisions we've made.

 ### 2. Effortless Setup with Powerful Visual Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan W.

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

I really appreciate the ability to build our own boilerplate with Storyblok, which gives us a fast and easy start for different clients, and then we can hand off the project later on. The backend experience we've set up for editors using the visual editor helps them manage and maintain their websites much better than before. I also find its integrations very useful. The visual editor is key for us as it allows people to manage content rapidly for massive sites with multiple product SKUs. I love how easy it is to set up editorial content quickly with well-controlled frontend customization, and it's really quick to customize the layout across breakpoints. Storyblok is really easy out of the box, which I find very convenient.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

The pricing structures can be pretty hard on smaller companies. The leap from two users to five users being a $100 a month is quite hard on us. Smaller scale companies don't need all of the extra bandwidth and features that come with it. It's just the user seats.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Storyblok helps us build a boilerplate for quick client project starts, manage massive content rapidly with its visual editor, and customize layouts efficiently.

 ### 3. Dynamic and Intuitive, Perfect for Headless Architecture

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan John M. | Senior Software Engineer

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

I love how dynamic and easy it is to build very custom pages with Storyblok. The headless nature of the platform is fantastic and provides great flexibility. I am impressed with the configuration options and features like data sources and custom schema with different field types, making it very dynamic and versatile. The API is outstanding and integrates well with frameworks like NextJS, Gatsby, or any other JAMstack framework, enhancing development efficiency. The great UI design is not only intuitive but also very simple, yet offers a deep level of complexity if needed. This makes the initial setup straightforward and using the platform incredibly manageable and stress-free.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

I find the pricing structure of Storyblok somewhat problematic. The cost seems to be increasingly expensive, making it a challenge to justify, especially for the lower tiers. I believe these tiers could be more budget-friendly.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Storyblok's headless architecture simplifies website building, offering dynamic, customizable pages with intuitive UI and powerful API integration. It reduced my stress and proved superior to WordPress by allowing complex configurations while remaining user-friendly.

 ### 4. Almost perfect CMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sampo V. | Project manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

As a developer, I find Storyblok to be amazingly simple to work with.
As a project manager, I've noticed that Storyblok is quite easy to teach which proves how intuitive the UI is.

These features I like the most:
- Creating blocks
- Creating templates
- Implementing to new and existing projects is super easy
- The api is very easy for integrations
- Real time preview of current state of content
- Save / publish -pattern
- Internationalization features with AI
- Amazing media service

I use Storyblok almost daily.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

1. The latest pricing model did cause problems on selling Storyblok. Especially the 20€/month for each extra language after two languages feels super steep.

2. I really miss the repeater-kind of feature that would essentially make a lot of sense and reduce the amount of required clicks when creating content

3. User roles in smaller plans

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It brings us a way to offer our customers a great CMS experience

 ### 5. Technically strong CMS with great flexibility and preview

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David W. | Founder, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Storyblok feels very technically sound while still being editor-friendly. The live preview is one of the best I’ve seen and gives teams confidence when publishing. Thanks to its flexibility, almost any use case is possible . From straightforward websites to complex multi-market setups.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Pricing is transparent, but it ramps up quickly. You’re nudged toward premium or enterprise tiers. That can feel heavy when you just want to start lean and grow from there.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storyblok solves the classic pain of editors breaking layouts or waiting on developers for small changes. With structured content and the live preview, our marketing teams can publish faster and stay on brand. The flexibility of the headless approach also means we can integrate with other systems (CRM, ERP, analytics) without hacks or fragile plugins. The result: quicker launches, fewer tickets, and more confidence for both editors and developers.

 ### 6. User-Friendly CMS with Great Agility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike O.

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

I like Storyblok because it's fast and very easy to use, which helps us manage our company website and make changes easily. The tool saves a lot of the back and forth that comes with traditional CMS, making edits much more straightforward without needing a web developer. It's also really user-friendly, allowing my team to make simple changes as needed.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

A few basic features like scheduling have moved from the standard tier in the more expensive tiers

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Storyblok for managing our website, making changes easy. It solves the problem of difficult web edits and is very user-friendly, allowing my team to make changes without a developer, saving time with its fast and easy-to-use system.

 ### 7. An efficient and easy-to-integrate headless solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dylan A. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

What I like best about Storyblok is its modern and intuitive UI combined with the flexibility it offers. It integrates seamlessly with frameworks like Astro, making it very easy to use for developers. I also really appreciate the custom fields, which allow us to adapt the CMS perfectly to our needs. Another big plus is the Image API, which automatically optimizes and converts images to WebP, saving both time and performance.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

What I dislike about Storyblok is mainly the recent pricing changes. The plan I was using went from free to $120, and the number of locales included has also been reduced. Another point is that extensions are only available from higher plans instead of being offered as pay-per-extension, which limits flexibility for smaller projects."

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Storyblok, we were working with WordPress, which had several limitations in terms of performance and customization. We were highly dependent on plugins, and the back office was extremely slow. With a headless CMS like Storyblok, we can focus much more on the frontend part, while keeping full flexibility and scalability. This has allowed us to improve performance, reduce complexity, and deliver a smoother experience both for developers and end users.

 ### 8. Storyblok – A Flexible and Developer-Friendly Headless CMS

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Visual Editor: The real-time visual editor makes it easy for non-technical users to manage and preview content.
Component-Based Approach: Content is structured in reusable blocks, which provides flexibility and consistency across pages.
Headless Architecture: Integrates seamlessly with modern frameworks (Next.js, Nuxt.js, React, Vue, etc.), enabling full control over frontend.
Collaboration Features: Roles, workflows, and approval processes make it practical for teams.
API-First: Fast, reliable APIs with GraphQL and REST support for versatile data access.
Good Documentation & Community: Well-maintained docs and an active developer ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Learning Curve: The component-based setup can be confusing for newcomers and requires upfront planning.
Pricing Model: Costs can grow quickly depending on number of users and projects.
Complex Configurations: Setting up roles, workflows, and custom fields may feel overwhelming at first.
Performance at Scale: While generally fast, very large content models can introduce latency if not optimized.
Limited Built-in Marketing Tools: Compared to traditional CMSs, features like A/B testing, personalization, and SEO tooling are more basic or require third-party integration.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storyblok has been solving several challenges for us around content management and delivery. As a headless CMS, it allows us to centralize content in one place and reuse it across multiple channels, such as websites, mobile apps, and other digital platforms. This has greatly reduced duplication of work and made our content strategy more consistent.
One of the biggest benefits is the visual editor, which empowers non-technical users to create and update content without depending on developers. This speeds up time to market for new pages and campaigns, while freeing developers to focus on building frontend features instead of managing copy changes. The component-based structure also ensures reusability and consistency, helping us maintain a cohesive brand experience.
On top of that, Storyblok’s workflows, roles, and versioning features have improved collaboration between teams, making it easier to manage approvals and avoid conflicts. Its API-first approach also keeps our setup future-proof, letting us integrate with modern frameworks and adapt to new technologies without redoing our content base.
Overall, Storyblok helps us work more efficiently, improves collaboration between technical and business teams, and gives us the flexibility to scale and evolve our digital experiences as needed.

**Official Response from Maria Baumgartner:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback!

 ### 9. Gets the job done, but not ideal for non-technical users

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

I will preface by saying I'm not a developer or a designer. My company used an agency to design and develop our website, and all I do is content creation, copy, etc. So I can only speak about those features of Storyblok. I like working with blocks, the visual editor, and content that is logically ordered and organized. I'd say it's pretty flexible and allows for as much simplicity or complexity as you require. All in all, I'd say I can work quickly and intuitively with Storyblok, now that I'm familiar with it.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

There is definitely a learning curve, and the pricing can get very expensive for additional features. While I love it when it's working, the visual editor has been buggy. Other small issues have arisen over the years and at times the Storyblok team has been unhelpful and unresponsive.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When redesigning our commercial website and documentation, we wanted an option that would make it easy for non-technical roles, like our sales and marketing teams, to update content.

**Official Response from Maria Baumgartner:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with Storyblok!

 ### 10. User-Friendly and Time-Saving Platform—Highly Recommended!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramdeep S. | Frontend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Storyblok provides a user-friendly interface, really easy to understand & update. Additionally, you don't need an additional hosting server, which saves a lot of time. I strongly recommend Storyblok, must try!!

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Pricing is a bit higher for startup clients.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a developer, it helps me to build a backend CMS faster as it's easy to use. Clear documentation makes it easier to fix the problems.

 ### 11. Good product, but be ware of price increases

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy B. | Lead developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Easy enough to use for my clients, virtual editor, fast CDN. I like their multi framework support and management apis

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

No user management — it would be nice to be able to have user specific content even if it was just basic. I get why they don’t have this but it would be nice.

Biggest thing I don’t like is that they altered their usage policy and plans which is now costing my clients 3x what they were paying a few months ago with no added benefit.

Also it is difficult for users to do bulk changes.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better than Wordpress essentially. We just need an easy place for clients to edit their websites

 ### 12. Why i still make use of Storyblok amidst other Headless CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathaniel I. | Technical writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

What I enjoy most about Storyblok is how it enables a seamless workflow between developers and content editors, overall combines a flexible API-driven backend with an intuitive, real-time editing experience.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

What I dislike about Storyblok is that the learning curve can feel steep at first, and the pricing for advanced features may be high for smaller projects.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

since storyblok is in the business of solving the problem of bridging the gap between developers and content teams by providing a flexible headless CMS with a visual editor, i benefit a lot from this as a content provider/writer as this speeds up content updates and does this smoothly.

 ### 13. Flexible and Powerful Tool for Content Teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ekisowei D. | Content Advisory Board Member, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

What i exactly like about Storyblok is the visual editor with live preview. with that it makes it easy to see a great view on how content will look before publishing, and i also love the drag and drop features, it speed up content creation and quality.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

hmm nothing in Particular except the pricing. i think it feels high for smaller teams.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storyblok helps me manage content in once place and use it accross different platforms. and also the visual editor makes updates quick and easy, and it's much simplier to collaborate with my team.

 ### 14. Storyblok makes content management easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carrie W. | Content & Communication Manager, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

“For me, the highlights are the intuitive visual editor, how easily we can create reusable components, and the balance it strikes between being developer-friendly and marketer-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Depending on your plan, certain features (like advanced roles or workflows) can feel locked behind higher tiers.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storyblok has solved a lot of the bottlenecks we used to face with content management. I no longer have to rely on developers for everyday changes - the visual editor and reusable components let me make updates myself, while keeping everything consistent and on-brand. It’s also bridged the gap between our development and marketing teams, giving both of us a system that works without frustration. On top of that, publishing and testing campaigns is much quicker, which means we can react faster and stay more responsive to the market.

**Official Response from Maria Baumgartner:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback, David! We understand that the initial setup may require advanced technical expertise, and we are continuously working to improve the user experience in this area.

 ### 15. A Flexible and Developer-Friendly CMS with Great Visual Editing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dominic K. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Storyblok offers a fantastic visual editor that makes it easy for both developers and content editors to work together. Its component-based architecture allows us to create reusable blocks and streamline content management across multiple projects. The headless nature of the CMS makes it easy to integrate with any frontend framework. The documentation is solid, and the UI is clean and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Storyblok has a bit of a learning curve at the start—especially for non-technical users. The pricing can also be a bit high for smaller teams or startups. At times, the UI can lag when working with complex content trees, and more flexibility in customizing workflows or permissions would be a great improvement.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storyblok solves the challenge of managing content across multiple platforms while keeping development flexible. As a headless CMS, it allows our team to decouple the frontend from the backend, enabling faster development cycles and easier integration with modern frameworks like Vue, React, or Nuxt. The visual editor empowers our non-technical team members to edit content without needing developer assistance, reducing bottlenecks and improving collaboration. Overall, it saves us time, enhances productivity, and helps maintain consistent branding across channels.

**Official Response from Maria Baumgartner:**

> Thank you for the great feedback, Dominic! We’re happy to hear that our visual editor, component system, and flexibility are helping your team. Thanks also for sharing where we can improve — we’re working on it! Appreciate you being part of the Storyblok community. :)

 ### 16. Amazing product with some rough edges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

It is definitely the best of its kind - a block based system natively integrates with the component system of React and thus makes it easy as a developer to "translate" the structure content editors define into something visual. Compared to WordPress or other legacy CMS systems, it is definitely the go-to-way for people using React, Next.js or similar technologies. If you have simple requirements, you will have a great time using Storyblok. For very simple blog pages and the-like there should be no issues. It is actually pretty easy to get up and running with extensive guides that show you exactly what you need to do. It is easy to integrate as there are example repositories, blog posts, and documentation entries. If you intend to build something more complex though, your are way more likely to run into some limitation though and you may even be bottlenecked by the guides down the line (see below in dislike part).
I work with Storyblok almost daily since we adopted it about 9-10 months ago and definitely like the ease of use in the editor interface, even though I am not really an end-user but you still spend much time in there when testing stuff. Our marketing team had great feedback too, especially in comparison to our old, slow WordPress instance.
It is great that the SDKs are open-source - this helps understanding some internal functionality and can help in resolving bugs without the need to contact anyone. It also allows to potentially directly contribute, but I would say that is a whole different discussion if you as a company want to/should contribute to an SDK of a software you potentially already pay thousands per month for.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

The first thing that really startled me was that the API sometimes has a really weird data format - numbers come as string, empty fields are "" instead of null (this also applies to e.g. booleans), etc. We built custom wrappers to normalize the data format and validate content coming from Storyblok. It is a pretty common pattern that you need to do some kind of custom solution building or creating workarounds, especially if you plan to use it extensively for all different kinds of content with different functionalities in mind. While that is not necessarily bad, I have seen multiple GitHub issues mentioning "XYZ should [already] be in the library". I don't want to know how often the same basic stuff has already been (re-)implemented all over the world.
I have found myself countless times scouring through the OSS source code of the React and JS library to find a bug, a solution or undocumented special case. Additionally, some in my opinion "no-brainer" features are definitely missing and resulted in us having to invest many hours into building something custom again and again (for example text alignment in RichText does not exist) - it is great that it is even possible to extend and workaround the system using additional fields or custom plugins, but every time I think about the fact that the Enterprise pricing plan is pretty expensive I say to myself everything should be buttery smooth out of the box.
While the support team is super friendly, at least in all cases I had to reach out to them, out of all feature requests we ever submitted over the course of almost a year now none have landed in the software yet (so prepare yourself to build custom stuff and workarounds). The feature request process is also pretty intransparent and you don't know if it has been considered, rots in their backlog forever or if it was internally discarded.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy, fast, customizable and rich content building for the marketing team. It benefits the development process since all data is structured.

 ### 17. Good Headless CMS for your digital CX presence

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike G. | Senior Project Manager Digital Customer Process IT, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Straightforward Headless CMS, failry easy to use and onboard content management teams, if the organization requires and is willing to invest the funds, then a WYSIWYG capability is even supported despite Storyblok being a Headless CMS. The ease of implementation also speaks for the selection of this platform. Many existing connectors for other systems (ie. Translation Management Smartling or DAM solutions) round up this platform

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

The solution comes with a significant license cost, especially when an organization has larger number of Content Editors, then this can have quite a significant budgetary impact. If a digital experience supports many languages, then there are a few limitations for the concurrent multilanguage content publishing process/workflow. We created our own concurrent multilanguage app within Storyblok to be able to handle content translation and publication workflows without having to stop the process for languages that translated their part faster.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are in full flight of our CX Digital Transformation initiative and as such required a powerful headless CMS to build our new experiences. Storyblok allows us to build rich content and maintain it on our sites in order to stay up relevant and fresh with up-to-date and SEO friendly content

 ### 18. A Game-Changing Headless CMS for Modern Web Development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | Co-Founder & Tech Lead, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

As a digital agency transitioning from TYPO3, what we appreciate most about Storyblok is its innovative approach to content management through reusable blocks. The visual editor stands out as a true game-changer, offering an intuitive interface that makes content management accessible even for non-technical users. Coming from TYPO3, we've found that client onboarding is significantly smoother with Storyblok, as the learning curve is much gentler. The flexibility in creating and managing layouts is exceptional, and the straightforward setup process allows us to get projects up and running quickly. Being an Austrian company like us adds a nice touch of familiarity, but more importantly, their understanding of European market needs is evident in their product design.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

The main pain point we've encountered with Storyblok is their pricing structure. The stark contrast between the free community tier and the entry-level paid plan creates a challenging decision point for smaller projects. This pricing gap can make it difficult to justify the transition for smaller clients or projects that need just a bit more than what the community tier offers but aren't quite ready for the full investment in the entry tier. A more gradual pricing scale would make it easier to scale with client needs and project requirements.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a digital agency specializing in creating custom websites and web applications, Storyblok solves several critical pain points in our content management workflow. The headless architecture perfectly aligns with our tech stack of Nuxt and Vue.js, allowing us to build modern, high-performance websites while giving our clients an intuitive way to manage their content. The visual editor bridges the gap between developers and content editors - something that was particularly challenging with TYPO3. This means our clients can actually see their content changes in real-time, significantly reducing the back-and-forth communication and revision cycles. The nested block concept allows us to create flexible, reusable components that maintain consistency across pages while giving clients the freedom to create unique pages without requiring developer intervention.

the pricing is not the best compared with
competitors

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dynamic content generation

 ### 20. User friendly CMS for editor and developer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Simple and easy to set up, with plenty of flexibility to tailor it to your needs. The visual editor is intuitive, making it easy for content editors to manage and preview changes. Developers will appreciate the freedom to structure content however they like. On top of that, their customer support is fast, helpful, and genuinely friendly.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

Honestly, it’s the best CMS I’ve used in over a decade of working in the industry. If I had to point out a potential barrier for some users, it would be the pricing for smaller businesses.

**What problems is Storyblok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Storyblok to manage our main marketing website and event microsite. It allows content editors to update pages without technical help easily.

 ### 21. For us the most intuitive CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andreas S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Storyblok?**

Storyblok is clearly focussed on marketing teams, as you can see from the very intuitive input mask and the visual editor. It feels like a simple no-code page builder, but has an absolutely powerful cms in the background.

**What do you dislike about Storyblok?**

The price model is rising steeply, which means that we often reach our limits when it comes to convincing customers to use the CMS. on the other hand, we also see the advantages that the CMS brings and so the price quickly balances itself out again.
