Most stock video (and audio) sites limit how many clips you can download per month, or charge you after you've already paid a membership fee. Storyblocks has a lot of the same footage as other services, a decent audio and SFX library, and is unlimited. Totally worth it. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** Sometimes the music and SFX library can be a little limited. You can tell Storyblocks started as primarily video, because the quality and options aren't as great as something like Epidemic Sound. But, it's still very useful and has tons of options to get me by! **What problems is Storyblocks solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed a stock video and audio solution that wasn't limited and had a good library. I get to hop on to Storblocks every day to find what I'm looking for, and/or inspiration to get my creative juices flowing! Also, the motion graphics templates are SO HELPFUL. I've never used Maker to edit my videos, but I like the idea that it's actually possible. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** - Asset copying-moving-importing when using the assets in Premiere Pro (I know there's a plugin, but in higher-priced subscription level) - I would definitely appreciate the ability to search for music longer than 4+ minutes (I edit a lot of yoga sessions and need longer pieces, such as 20+ minutes... the only way is to limit it by 4 minutes and then change the order to duration from highest to lowest. Annoying like hell. Already reported that approx. year or two ago. Still waiting for more dynamic filter. - Option to generate licence document per every download asset. Had a hard time with a marketing agency, who required such document. My StoryBlocks licence did not satisfy them. My client replaced this agency with another one, which was happy about the docs I've provided. And another thing I liked about storyblocks is, I can download the footage from the search page only. However, I would like to make the suggestion that more and more footages needs to be added. There are fewer cinematics kinda video on the platform. Lots of 4k content on the video side, and the music selection is really good. I've even found music that I'd put into my play rotation because it's that good. The still images are for the most part good as well, though I will say that at least for the genres I search in I find a lot of stuff that's a bit dated at this point. Often I'll simply grab a still from one of their videos and use that. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** On the still image side I feel like they could use some updates. I encounter a lot of stuff that's dated. Also, especially when searching urban images, it seems like a lot is pulled from European sources. I love that I can freely use Storyblocks footage in my videos without having to worry about the legal side of licensing. Storyblocks is best for anyone needing shots of common "real life" things/scenarios. The 4K footage is sharp, and I'm always able to adjust the colors to look natural in my videos. The price point is also very affordable, and if I ever need to cancel my subscription, my previous video projects published with Storyblocks b-roll are cleared to stay live in perpetuity. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** The website can be very slow at times. I also wish I could set default filters for my account, such as only viewing 4K footage, since I will never use a 1080p shot in a video. Finally, the animated content is lacking and I would love to see more emphasis on "infographic" type animated shots. There's a heavy bias on "real life" shots which is good to have, but my content would benefit from more animated/motion graphics type content to pick from. Also, having more standards for coloring footage would be nice (such as being able to search footage by it being "LOG" or "natural colors" etc) **What problems is Storyblocks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Storyblocks has b-roll for just about any real-world scenario. The songs I search for when I need a multicultural tone can be stereotypical and expected in a way that doesn't pass my bar for professionalism. And as someone that's not great with creating graphics, I love that there's a section fillled with Premiere Pro and After Effects templates. That really makes my job so much easier. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** Some of the clips can seem repetitive from some of the most prolific creators on the site, but that can be solved by just looking a little harder for the right clips. My only major complaint is that I don't fully understand the categories using tags; sometimes when I search something like "body lotion", I'll get completely different results from "lotion". **What problems is Storyblocks solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use a lot of b-roll clips every single day, and Storyblocks is my go-to for finding the clips that fit my video editing needs. There is a wide variety of clips available for most of the topics I work on. The value cannot be beaten especially when compared to other stock sites. In my work, I use multiple clips per video, and I produce multiple videos each week. Many sites have a limit of 10 videos per month. I could hit that limit in just one video. Having unlimited downloads it just awesome. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** My biggest complaint with the site is Audio section. The way to sort is just a mess. For example, say I need a background track that is 5 minutes long. Instead of allowing me to manually type in the length parameters to narrow down my search to songs that are 5 minutes or close to it, they have a slider bar. The slider bar ONLY goes up to 4 minutes. For any music track that is longer than that, I'm forced to click on multiple pages and spend way too much time searching. Also, I find that the No Vocals filter isn't very effective. I've found dozens of songs that still have vocals after sorting for only songs without them. Still, the selection is great, and I usually can find what I'm after. **What problems is Storyblocks solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem we face is budget. We have a very small budget and have relied on free stock sites in the past. Storyblocks gives us access to so much and at a great price. ### 19. We were able to find supplemental media for almost all of our projects just from this one source. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** The customer service was very pushy, and since a new company acquired Storyblocks, they have become very corporatized. They had one of their "lawyer" types do a Zoom call with us and threaten to copyright claim all of our footage unless we paid them roughly $10,000. This amount was a staggering change from our previous few hundred-dollar subscription. As far as ethical business practices go, they are terrible. For our purposes, non-account holders will often view the library and notify the account-holders which footage they require, and when the account holder goes to the page, the format we require isn't available. I'd go out searching for free clips and during this process I'd find the most beautiful, haunting, expressive video from Storyblocks. It was watermarked material, and if I truly wanted it I'd have to become a subscriber. The free stuff couldn't even come close to what Storyblocks offers, so I saved up my pennies and bought a year's membership. It's been great. I use all kinds of music, graphics and video. It all comes from one place (saving me a ton of time) and it makes my shows look fantastic. I am protected and empowered by Storyblocks to use their material and I love that I've been able to build a library for future projects (thanks to my Storyblocks subscription, I have a lot of different projects in the works)! **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** $30 a month is a lot, considering I don't know if producing my own content is ever going to make me a profit. I know there is a cheaper level, but after much thought I realize I couldn't work with it to produce what I want.
