It's lightweight, straightforward, and does exactly what we need it to do . **What do you dislike about StorMagic?** Storagmic features are pretty focused, so it might not handle advanced storage scenario. The monitoring tools could also use bit more depth. **What problems is StorMagic solving and how is that benefiting you?** It lets us get rid of expensive SAN hardware while still keeping our workloads protected, which helps keep costs down makes the overall setup less complex. ### 3. It has been integrated into our current setup which is basically running with VMware. This has enabled us to free ourselves from the expensive parts of hardware and offer highly reliable, scalable storage which works. It has taken all of this away from me, saving me time switching over to different management dashboards. **What do you dislike about StorMagic?** StorMagic has one downside which is it can be a bit stressful to install initially. There aren’t a lot of details around specific integrations and troubleshooting that the documentation could provide. The software itself is good, but we had a few debates in deployment, primarily due to network settings. Mostly it was about getting the right settings right so there’s no interruption. **What problems is StorMagic solving and how is that benefiting you?** StorMagic has solved our problem of efficient storage management at a low price. However in distributed system across multiple location, we used to face challenges in maintaining consistency setup of storage. As StorMagic, we’ve now onboarded the storage capabilities into one appliance, consolidated resources, made them more reliable, and cut costs. So far, it has made our IT environment more stable and scalable and we don’t have to rely on expensive SAN hardware. ### 4. It allows to manage virtual environment more simply, thus making it easier to deal with such a complicated setup. This guarantees high availability, and highly resistant to downtime. For example, when not manually intervened, the system switched automatically to a backup server due to a power outage recently. In addition, the centralized management console will provide a clear crystal for the entire storage activities which can easily be updated for supervising and handling it successfully in an efficient way. **What do you dislike about StorMagic?** For new users, spending some time to understand all the features of StorMagic is needed, as its learning curve can be steep. It should be more detailed especially when you are dealing with advanced configs. In addition, the support response time can be slow at times, which can be fatal when you are dealing with critical issues. **What problems is StorMagic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Managing virtual environments was a manual and error prone process before using StorMagic. Now everything has been automated and worked out. It has substantially lowered the risk of downtime and produced a better system reliability. Automated failover was truly a game changer as it allowed it services to keep running even when hardware failed. Another advantage is that it has simplified the central management console and monitoring and maintenance which grants the IT team the time to work on more strategic tasks. ### 6. You'll get a reply within 15min, at night! This adds a lot of solidity to the product in general. I can't say anything about the amount of features. all configuration is done within the web interface. The fact they've added the cloud witness feature (hosted in Stormagic AWS, and minimal config for the customer) is great. **What do you dislike about StorMagic?** The fact that it doesn't add as much value to each platform it sits on. It feels as if it's built and tested on vmware. It's more practical to setup on ESX hosts. On Hyper-V, there are much more things to consider when it comes to shared storage. But one has to question if this isn't just a MS problem rather than Stormagic. (Windows Failover Cluster configuration experience is required) **What problems is StorMagic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sales and running costs of Stormagic are far below the costs of a physical SAN + disks. Stormagic targets exactly those SMB's where all servers fit on 2 server nodes. It integrates in existing environments or can be setup on new hardware. In Europe, most SMB's work like this, but struggle to maintain the servers because they operate independant from each other. Stormagic combines storage in 1 pool, making it fast and easy to migrate running servers from one node to the other. Maintenance can be done, redundancy is added when hardware fails. So you get quite good value for your money. That being said, there are also open source solutions with enterprise support, that can be setup to do all of the above for 1/5 of the cost.
