"Great for beginners and experts alike"

What do you like best about Stata?

Stata is a popular platform for public policy analyses. In my opinion, its layout is more clean than competitors like SPSS. The code is fairly simple to learn and the dialogue boxes assist you in doing that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

Stata has product levels that limit the number of variables one can do. Many people are starting to leave the paid statistics/econometrics platforms for R, a free open-source platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good software for econometric analysis "
4.5/5
What do you like best about Stata?

Easy to use and versatile for fairly advanced econometrics and study designs and regression models. Clean interface Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

It's fairly limited with respect to more recent machine learning capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good, simple alternative to R or SPSS"
4/5
What do you like best about Stata?

Ease of use, not needed to know how to code although it has the potential to make commands via a command line. A very wide range of parametric and nonparametric tests. Useful tests and visualizations of data and rather easy to find them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

Slightly difficult to edit data. Statistical outputs are sometimes difficult to interpret due to the nuances of the software in presenting values (e.g. p-values, hypotheses, etc.). It can be somewhat temperamental when switching between data sets and multiple variables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"State Review (academic)"
5/5
What do you like best about Stata?

Although State requires knowledge of coding, it is quite intuitive and makes logical sense. The learning curve is (relatively) steep, but once mastered it is a smooth system. The output is simple and the functions are endless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

The biggest gripe is the copy/paste of tables, particularly on the MAC platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Stata is very simple with point and clicks features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

I like it for quick easy projects and teaching higher-level MDs how to run their own analyses but overall fir rigorous data analyst I think coding is better on other platforms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stata?

I like the use of simple code to regenerate statistical tests. The software is very light meaning it loads large amounts of data very quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

The learning curve can be somehow steep but there are a lot of resources online. It’s widely used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Review of Stata 15"
5/5
What do you like best about Stata?

STATA is very easy to use for simple statistical tasks, there are basic coding requirements that are easy to follow to analyze publishable data. Additionally, there are several statistical comparisons that can be made for the large clinical trial datasets we work with, and Stata is commonly used in the epidemiological world, so the analyses are well known.

Furthermore, STATA is also useful for more complex analyses, such as structural equation modeling (including GUI), latent class analysis, among others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

There is really nothing I dislike about Stata. I love this program and it makes my work much easier. However, sometimes it can be tedious to learn due to its differences from other programs like R. Perhaps the only drawback is that in more complex analyses, STATA falls short, for example, latent growth curve models (LGCM), for instance.

The price is also high for the MP version, although the SP version is affordable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Using Stata to analyze experimental data"
5/5
What do you like best about Stata?

Stata works really well for analyzing data. One of the things I like most about Stata is that there a lot of resources for different types of analyses you may need to do. You can Google almost any question you would have about Stata and have several articles that help answer your questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stata?

While Stata works fairly well, contrast coding in Stata is not as easily done as in other programs. In addition, some packages for mediation (Hayes 2013) that are very easy to run in SPSS and SAS are not as easy to run in Stata. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
