Stata is useful for managing large datasets, analyzing data, and running experimental analysis. I've used it mostly for regression, for which it is extremely versatile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a steep learning curve for using Stata. Additionally, the default graphing/ data visualization features are quite ugly and unprofessional (ggplot2 in R is a much better-- and free-- option). I feel like many organizations stick with Stata because that's what they are trained in, when there are cheaper and better alternatives available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
