## Stack Internal Reviews
  ### 1. Great for Knowledge Sharing but Needs UI Improvements

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vini N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

I like the storage capability of Stack Overflow Internal, which allows all product knowledge to be kept in one space, making it accessible. I also appreciate the ability to ask questions directly to teams or team members, which ensures a more seamless process for getting the right answers and supports my work and collaboration within the team.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

The UI feels clunky, and the search functionality could be improved to help find information more easily.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Stack Overflow Internal helps with knowledge sharing across teams. It stores all product knowledge in one space and allows asking questions to direct teams for efficient answers.

  ### 2. StackOverflow Search Functionality

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

I usually find that the answers for the questions are correct, as they are answered by competent people

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

I dislike the search, it is really hard to find similar question. You'll need to be exact with the wording for it to find similar questions.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a Q/A platform that you can trust and understand the nuances. Ideally you would like to have company documentation linked to the answer/question. That way you can deepen your knowledge

  ### 3. Sounds better than then really is

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Most of it, to be honest, I'm a very much fun of the platform, I have used the public one, community versions (i.e. Salesforce) and now our own one, and it's a really powerful platform for helping developers.
If I have to say I thing, I'd go for sure for the search engine, it only takes a few seconds to find the question you are searching in case it exists.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

The most, considering our own experience, is to have been charged by inactive users when we were not notified at all in any part of the process it'd happen (and in the T&Cs it is not completed clear how users should be managed on this sense). Even after deleting them as suggested, the charges were not modified.
The second point, and this may be more related to us, is how to engage users. There are some users strongly using the tool, but most of our users do not and keep using more traditional channels: slack, github, etc, so our doc desentralisation problem did not improve but the opposite.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping common questions in a single space accesible by all users and avoiding SMEs to continuosly answer the same doubts. Even so, reaching some these SMEs directly by chat or raising the question in open channels is a more frequent path than using SO.

  ### 4. Stack Overflow a good resource

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

The best thing about this software is that it used by my peers. We talk the same language and need the same information.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

The points rating system seems to encourage over-use. Some non-useful questions are posted in an effort to gain points.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an online encyclopedia, that evergreens itself.

  ### 5. Ok

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francesco A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

They keep in contact with whole departments
Classify questions to create general knowledge

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

At the moment nothing, maybe creating some additional engagement

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Classifying questions with tags

  ### 6. Minimal use, has helped me a few times

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Easy to use. Every now and then I will run into a short issue and all it takes is one quick search.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

The search engine is too picky. I never want to see no results, even if its not exactly what I searched for show me something.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Different coding problems. I use Outsystems, and there isn't a ton online about it. Stack overflow helps

  ### 7. Adequate

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Familiar interface from using StackExchange sites

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Nothing that I've seen in my usage, admittedly limited

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a forum for StackExchange Inc to host a moderator-only chat site.

  ### 8. You can find very few, but company-specific and very helpful questions together with good answers

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Most of the times you know the one who answered/asked the question so it is a personal experience.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

There are not many topics covered. It misses the best part of Stack Overflow (for non-Teams), which is the world-wide knowledge

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

(Only) problems related to our specific business appear and are solved in the specific way we handle it in our business

  ### 9. User Perspecitve: SO out enough notifications already; Teams notifications are redundant

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon E. | Cloud Devops Automation Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

It brings SO questions into the public for everyone at my company to see in case they don't regularly check the site. I just use microsoft teams (desktop client) and an internet browser and I don't miss anything.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

The use case is a little redundant within my company (~500 people). Most people don't use stack overflow regularly and won't go out of their way to answer any random question that pops up. Most people will mute or ignore a bot that constantly spits out monotonous reminders for unanswered questions. Usually when you want to get a question answered you'll end up hunting down a specific person at the company and linking him/her to the question directly. There's not enough enforcement to get relevant people on the question.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

If in a large company, consider whether you can actually get people to use Stack Overflow and relevant people to care about the questions.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For the time being it justifies the existence of Stack Overflow to the rest of the company and makes information widespread. However for the time being adoption is slow and most people keep conversations limited to teams chats and do not share their information into stack overflow.

  ### 10. New to Slack Overflow for Teams

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vallie T. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

I like that it's a place where I can find answers to Target-specific tech questions.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

I wish that it also linked to answers on the public stack overflow.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

Give it a go.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm currently using it to delve into some API issues, but overall it's just another avenue where I can gain knowledge.

  ### 11. Contains useful resources on some topics, but information can be split between SO and Slack channels

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Familiar format, serves as a middle ground between article and discussion formats.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Still has little to no activity around certain topics.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compared to Slack channels, SO posts are more readable and easily queried.

  ### 12. The 'Stack Overflow for Teams' experience

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

It's like being in the "regular Stack Overflow"... You know to handle it, and you know how everything works right from the start...
You don't need to learn a new thing to get the most out of it

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

If it is a private work team, and you bring a lot of "know-how" to the team, if one day you have to change your company, you could lose access to all that knowledge.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

If you use StackOverflow in your company and you need a place to centralize your"know-how", this is your product.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Old problems solved with 'Stack Overflow for Teams' remain accessible to new team members, so they have access to all this knowledge, even if they were not there when the problem occurred.

  ### 13. Great Name - Constantly improving

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

I love how the product, design, and enablement teams at my company can track trends in questions being asked. This is giving us valuable insight into what is not intuitive about our product as well as what is not being covered adequately enough in our training materials.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

I heavily use the dashboard and wish it was more customizable. I'd like to be able to see charts of visitors per day and other metrics which I can manually create by exporting the CSV and creating these charts on my own. I'd also like to be able to filter the 'Users' page by groups to compare reputation points. I track reputation points of our SMEs to award high performance as incentive. As of now I have to search through all users to compare SME reputation points.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking top knowledge gaps of our users for product, design, and enablement has been a big plus. Finding subject matter experts through the Stack Overflow platform has also been helpful for us.

  ### 14. Good attempt to centralize knowledge and solutions in a known environment

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

The focus of the discussions is on the most part relevant to my day to day job

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

It's still in its maturity phase. Team-wise (I mean it's our teams' responsability).

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's being used as a centralized issue reporting tool

  ### 15. Simple knowledge sharing tool, great if you don't already have something that can fill the void.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip H. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Any development team is familiar with the Stack Overflow structure and can get up to speed instantly.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

If you already have an internal wiki or knowledge base, the cost of SO for Teams can be a bit much and make it harder to know where to add documentation and notes. I would think carefully about where you want the information to go and make sure Teams fits into that model.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use SO for Teams to collect commonly asked questions or playbooks for managing our internal infrastructure.

  ### 16. My review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

A familiar look and a nice editing interface.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

We don't use this as a Q&A site so much as a repository for documentation. So the insistence on 'answering' is a bit tiresome.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

If you want a Q&A site, this is perfect. If you want a living documentation repository it is fine, but with some niggles.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great to be able to point someone to a link that says 'here's the info you need, feel free to improve it"

  ### 17. Company setup in regards to SSO is complicated; Support-behaviour wasn't customer-oriented

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

The product concept itself is useful and makes a lot of sense for knowledge sharing and management.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Our support experience was not what we expected.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing knowledge and providing answers to frequently asked questions.

  ### 18. Stakoverflow teams work great but adoption in my team has been low.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Simplicity of UI, familiarity with Stackoverflow across team

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Integration with slack needs more
Need to add video recordings for some training.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

It is a great tool, recommended

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Historical issues,
Training
Documentation

  ### 19. Stack overflow as mentoring platform

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

ability to crowdsource questions and reward contributors

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

very few ways to customize the platform in general

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Evaluating platform to use as a matchmaking platform for advisors and startups

  ### 20. Odd fit

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Stack overflow gives you a convenient way to structure the discussion about a question (comments vs answers, ability to designate an approved answer)

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

People here are mostly using SO as a wiki, posting both questions and answers for issues they want to record for other people's use later. It's very different from the way the public SO works, and I don't think it's a very effective use of this tool. (This isn't a complaint about Stack Overflow, but about how our organization has been using it.)

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

Think about how you want this to be used. Don't try to use it as a wiki.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're publically documenting answers to questions people encounter in their development work. I'm not sure we've actually realized any benefits, compared to how we would have handled this issues without SO

  ### 21. Middling praise for SO for teams

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

SO is so familiar to developers, it should be natural and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Comments are limited in length. I often need to edit the question instead of respond to an answer that's not quite there.

IMO, some AI to suggest tags would also be good.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

Great for a repository of frequently asked questions.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We'd used Wikkis in the past for the same purpose, communicating within teams, but found that wikkis generate massive amounts of out-of-date information that's not so directly targeted as a Question / Answer format is.
We just want the correct answers to common questions to be easily accessible.

  ### 22. Loves SOT (Stack Overflow for Teams)

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Collaboration, Speed, Tag, Team and accessibility

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Integration with slack. Slow or unclear mentions.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

Include real time messaging. Chat?

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration

  ### 23. Get the company use to use it

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

Using it as a center of documentation based on questions. Instead of readying the total documentation of a proyect, we can get the answer to our question faster.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

It is not easy to make the company use it. To get the users to use it.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documentation about proyects. Insted of having big documents, we have question abouts proyects (configuration, depoyment, patterns, arquichecture). We do no have to read a big document.

  ### 24. An Interesting Tool, but Adoption is a Struggle

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Don S. | GM, Azure AI Marketing, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

I like the ability to flag a question to people within the organization, and a private place to ask questions that would otherwise be inappropriate for a platform like SO.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

I think the platform needs a fuller wiki, or way to organize questions into topics and practice areas beyond what is already available. We need a way for someone to curate pages of content, essentially.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:**

I would say that it's worth a shot with your team. Technical delivery teams are most likely to get value out of the product.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a collaboration problem. Sometimes it's hard to direct a question to a subject matter expert (SME) in an organization full of busy people. Not only might you not know the best resource to help you, tracking who is available is difficult.

  ### 25. Great overall, hard to transition team

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

The teams feature is awesome overall, but it's hard to get team members to transition over and understand best practices for using it. It does help that it's stack overflow and most are familiar with it.

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

Not much, but perhaps it could be most distinct from the public platform

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remembering how problems were solved in the past, particularly in debugging and setup

  ### 26. Stack overflow for teams is ok

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ira L. | Lead Programmer Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Stack Internal?**

the best thing is availability of the site

**What do you dislike about Stack Internal?**

most everything that I would put on the team site is stuff that is in the public site.

**What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I did not find any real benefits
