The ability to remove silos of information and work asynchronously to create a knowledge library. It saves a lot of time for new people in the team and to collaborate better on the projects too.

Nothing much to dislike, a little taste of JIRA like knowledgebase would have been a plus, but overall it's perfect.

I can't think of anything really. It's basically SO but internal!

We can now ask questions internally without cluttering MS Teams! We also have a history of any previous questions meaning a huge repo of all of our things we've learned as a business

I like that everything works as we know it from the main SO platform. But the people replying to you are those from your team or group you collaborate with. This gives a very different atmosphere where you do not have to worry too much about downvotes or quality.

I do not think that accepting an answer makes a lot of sense. Probably the Teams solution should change some of the functionality for internal use.

Make sure you answer questions or they are going to get sent over and over again to all members.

I think the most wonderful approach was the its easy to use interface. Although I am a social scientist, and a programmer my team members were highly lacking in the area. So, this place became like a home since we share all of our knowledges here.

In some countries it is prohibited, such as Russia. Premium feature adds a lot for sure but I think there can be some features for the free version too..

We are solving the problems within our school enviroment about coding and many more, such as teaching the general knowledge of programming with the rest of the group. Our general production is increased.

It's user-friendly as many tech users are already familiar with StackOverflow regular accounts. We use it for Python-based tools. It is more productive compared to other tools.

If someone has never used Stackoverflow, it takes a while to understand the platform. An onboarding process might help beginners. Some kind of tutorial just after signing up would be great.

It takes a long time to delete the default Q&A posts (not sure if this will happen with questions we create). It would be nice if SO for teams would look different than regular SO. I want to choose a different theme for SO for Teams to tell them apart from each other.

We recently moved to Service Fabric for our jobs, and it's a lot of esoteric knowledge. It's nice to be able to ask questions and get them answered in a way that allows other members of the team to gain the same knowledge without needing to stop for a meeting.

- Instead of writing up answers for questions I get asked over and over, I can direct people to a Stack Overflow answer.
- It's much easier to search Stack Overflow than it is to search through emails or OneNote notes.

- As the team admin, the 'Admin' tag is distracting and gives my answers extra, undue weight.
- Some have found it difficult to change their habits, and forget to use Stack Overflow.

Onboarding new employees is much easier when they are able to search for answers to their questions. This saves supervisors' time as well. In general, the search function is easy to use.

1. It's a well-built product, and it carries over the strengths of the familiar Stack Overflow UI. Very straightforward to use with a highly polished interface.
2. It works well for the intended use-case in practice - both for async QA and a searchable knowledge base.
3. I was surprisingly pleased with the offering at the free tier. It is not crippled in any way, which is quite rare to see.

1. I dislike the idea of maintaining a public QA profile implicitly just by the virtue of using Stack Overflow for Teams.
2. Out of the box integrations are somewhat lackluster.

We are a small team (<10), and felt the need for a place to conduct private techical discussions every developer could partake in. It also doubles as a searchable database of common and uncommon knowledge. It's the same problem Stack Overflow solves, just in a localized context.

The answer and response editing is cumbersome and sometimes makes responses harder to read.    That would be my #1 on things to improve.

In a group of folks with a varied technical background and a bunch of experiential company knowledge, it helps to have a place where we can easily store those little bits of info and recall them quickly.   Stack Overflow for Teams has enabled us to fill that gap, and as we grow our base, other groups are asking how we're able to keep our pace.

Automatically structured content makes browsing content easy and fun. All is well organized. Gamification is fun.

Best Q/A cannot be easily exported to other document management systems to create well-written how-tos or procedures. Sometimes it is cumbersome to read all the answers and the question because they are not been thought to be "published" but just written to quickly have an answer to an issue.

The ability to accept multiple answers because they are equally valid.

**What problems is Stack Overflow Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Two kinds of problems:
1) The classic problem Stackoverflow solves: posting a technical question to receive a technical answer from experts, regarding the dev teams.
2) A place to discuss open questions in the company or team that are difficult to solve or need many points of view, not only from a technical point of view. By using all the answers we can reach a consensus or a solution in less time. Since these questions are hard to solve, they may stay there for a long time and thus a structured approach helps to remind you about unanswered topics that probably deserve a proper solution.
In this case, having the ability to accept multiple answers can aid to build a valid position to solve the big question because it is rare that a single answer can solve it all.

We can tag certain team members who may know the answer or question domain best. Also, the recognition aspect helps motivate people to answer with very clear, concise, and helpful answers. We can use simple emojis to express gratitude for their time in answering or comment further on their response. Instead of losing knowledge or repeating questions and answers over and over again, we can store these all in one easy-to-search repository.

There is a fear that you may accidentally place a question in the wrong place that may end up publically viewable and contain sensitive information about the internal infrastructure. If we could make it obviously branded to our company colours, for example, this would make it easier to see the difference. Much like we would use colours to differentiate between staging and production environments.

Put a process in place to funnel queries into Stack Overflow for Teams and have the right knowledge sources respond to them, and should someone have a question, have it become the first place they look. Not just highly technical questions, either. It can work with other teams to capture their knowledge.

The product is incredibly easy to use as an end user (Teams Integration HUGE) and also as an administrator.  The gamification of contribution is a great feature that drives engagement which is crucial to adoption and value.

Not a huge deal, but would have very much liked to have the ability to restrict access to topics/categories by group without going to the full Enterprise license level.

We are using Stack Overflow currently for product, engineering, and support teams to request, receive, and catalog how-to information and documentation.  It has been beneficial sofar in providing a single point of entry for such information.

If StackOverflow can successfully handle many questions in the public version, it can help us organize our internal knowledge sharing. In addition, I like how it allows us to search for existing questions/answers.

Sometimes I have issues with the formatting of answers... Maybe I do something in the wrong way; I'm not sure. And I really really want to attach gifs, while I can only attach static images.

We develop software based on our framework. Fortunately, the issues which we encounter during development are the same for different projects. And StackOverflow helps us to share knowledge and best practices. Also, when we get excellent questions/answers, we share them with the public via other services.

Adoption has been a little bit slow, some use the tool more often than others, hopefully, the adoption of the tool will increase when we have more information about different topics.

Every developer knows how to use Stack Overflow so, that's a good starting point. The integration between your public profile and enterprise profile works well and keeps things in one place. Other integrations like Jira and Slack are very valuable because it helps to keep helpful answers in one place and avoids knowledge to be in random areas which are hard to search for. I guess that's what I like the most, be able to search "internal" knowledge in one place, and it works.

I miss a great mobile app to interact with Stack Overflow. Reviewing or contributing while we are on the run is more accessible on a tablet or phone, but there are no reasonable solutions, unfortunately.

I like having one central place for all of our company's knowledge. Every question that our delivery teams have ends up in StackOverflow for Teams. The result is a vast searchable database of questions, tags, logs, errors, and stack traces that teams can use to troubleshoot their problems. Having all of this knowledge available is a massive time saver.

I don't particularly appreciate it when users paste in screenshots of logs or code, as this hinders searchability. It is also frustrating when answers become out of date or people don't fully document their solutions.

**What do you like best about Stack Overflow Internal?**

I love that the Stack Overflow interface for teams is exactly the way I expect it to look from years of experience using it for personal projects and work. Everything is exactly where I expect it to be and nothing is out of place. The same highly effective voting system helps separate good answers from mediocre or "poor" answers, and the points system gamifies work just enough to be valuable, without encouraging poor contributions.

**What do you dislike about Stack Overflow Internal?**

The only thing I don't love about SO for teams is that it's sometimes easy to end up in the "primary" Stack Overflow interface/main page. On more than one occasion, I have mistakenly started drafting a question with some sensitive, company-specific information and nearly published it to the public Stack Overflow knowledge base. This is, obviously, a bad thing. I'd like to see the interface do a better job of making it clear when the user switches between the private and public spaces, though the ability to do so relatively seamlessly is wonderful.

**What problems is Stack Overflow Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're solving an incredible number of problems. The biggest, in my estimation, is that questions that were often answered in direct messages or in public channels on Slack now are being posted to Stack Overflow, and then are well documented for other users at the company to find. This format works far better than something like a wiki (read Confluence or similar) type knowledge base, since not all questions are truly "FAQs" and parsing through a knowledge base is much more cumbersome than individual pages for individual questions.

Upvoting each other's posts to increase collaboration throughout the company. The best part about this platform for me is the gamification aspect. It is amazing to see the whole company reputation going up as we collaborate with each other. I really enjoy the fact that you can place bounties on people's posts to increase the likelihood of it being answered. Now when people ping me on teams I can easily direct them to a stack overflow post instead of simply asking it.

I think it's weird that when a poster marks a post as the right answer, the answer with the most upvotes is still on top. I would rather have it that if the poster marks the message as correct it is now the top answer. Visually this make more sense for me due to that fact that it is more right. Why would an answer not selected as right be up top? That doesn't make much sense to me. However, I understand the need for the voting system to be in place so users can collectively agree on the best answer.

I miss a live Markdown text editor; some teammates are not used to Markdown, and sometimes, the styling of answers is lost. Furthermore, I wouldn't change anything else. Well... Only one additional thing: a nicer exporter.

The separation between the public and the team network is advantageous. The fact that in the team, we usually work with the same technologies and projects, and we go through the same problems, having a separate platform for that makes the diagnosis a lot faster. Also, because we know each other in most cases, the discussion is more fluent, and threads become more explicit.

I can't find anything that I dislike about StackOverFlow Teams. Even in the public channel, it was the tool that saved my life most of the time on the bug resolution process.

Stack Overflow is the first line of defense in protecting people's valuable time.  Time is a limited resource; everyone admits that.  Having a place where folks know they can conduct technical collaboration saves people time and builds community, especially when folks work virtually around the globe.

Since my company uses Microsoft Teams instead of Slack, some of the neat integration features take additional time to show up there, whereas slack has had them for months already.

Before introducing Stack Overflow in your community, be sure to pre-load as much content into the platform as possible and then upon release, make a big splash, have incentives ready to give people for participating right away.

Stack overflow is a great tool to make knowledge reusable. It brings down knowledge silos within your organization since people from all over the company can ask and answer questions.
By surfacing the knowledge hidden in your employees' heads, you make it reusable - and that can save you a lot of time your employees might otherwise spend in meetings.
On top of this, Stack Overflow for Teams comes with integrations into MS Teams and Slack, which makes it an integration point for the various channels that we hide knowledge in today.

**What do you dislike about Stack Overflow Internal?**

The UI can sometimes be a bit messy. The UI for asking, answering, commenting, and voting on questions is OK - these are the essential parts of the UI. The UIs for moderators, user profile management, and dashboards used to inspect statistics are sometimes messy, and things can be hard to find. Unfortunately, the help center is also not very prominently accessible, and although there is a host of helpful information in it, it's not easily accessible and not very well structured. For example, navigation between the help topics is not easily possible.

Also, the Stack Overflow instance is initially empty. Although a lot of the initial content needs to come from the company that deploys Stack Overflow, Stack Overflow could also provide some initial content. That mainly comprises best practice knowledge base articles and how-to's that people can read to get started quickly, e.g., how to ask questions correctly, answer them properly, what Stack should be used for, and whatnot.

**Recommendations to others considering Stack Overflow Internal:**

I think there is hardly a better tool for Q&A than Stack Overflow. It is well known from the public Internet. It is easy to use and supports markdown for asking and answering questions. We are running it as a pilot project before hopefully rolling it out to the entire company. We are generally pleased with the experience and support of Stack Overflow for Teams. I can recommend that product and the effect it may have on a large company where sharing knowledge is often a problem.

We try to solve several problems with Stack Overflow. First, due to the company's size, there are many different departments, and exchanging knowledge between them is difficult. Usually, meetings are held to exchange knowledge between colleagues of differing departments. That is usually a point-to-point communication, and so the same information needs to be shared over and over again.
Additionally, a lot of the knowledge already shared in a reusable fashion is mainly hidden in various channels (Slack, MS Teams, Wikis, etc.).
We, therefore, need a tool that breaks down knowledge silos, makes knowledge reusable, and integrates our existing communication channels to surface the knowledge hidden there. Additionally, we position Stack Overflow as a central tool for employees to address their questions and answers. It is our central entry point for Q&A.

Honestly, the toughest thing about Stack Overflow is trying to decide to ask questions in Slack or in Stack. We're currently in the habit of doing everything on Slack, which is nice for instant answers, but has poor search and no tagging.

Our development team uses Slack heavily but it was becoming difficult when a question was asked to make the proper answer clearly noted for everyone.  Additionally it was very difficult for someone to come back and find the question and answer at a later date.  If someone wasn't involved in the conversation or was a new hire forget about them even knowing where to look in Slack.

SO for Teams gives our team the ability to branch quickly from Slack into SO to record important questions/answers so that they're properly documented, a true answer is noted, and its easy to search/find later.

The Articles expansion was great for "non question" documentation.

No major complaints.  Looking forward to feature expansion to get into some more wiki-light type documents which will really expand our ability to leverage the platform.

The Q&A format incentivizes employees to ask pressing and common questions. I find this better than explaining everything you know in several Confluence pages where important issues might get lost.
Also, it can be easily integrated with Slack for new questions notifications.

I don't know if it can fully replace a knowledge base like Confluence. Sometimes you need to write a big post with different steps and explanations, and I don't know if it fits in an answer.

Everyone on the team is already familiar with the Stack Overflow interface and workflow, and it's precisely the same for teams. After being finely honed for many years now, it is certainly a tried and true way to ask questions and get answers. In other words, it just works.

The private team is only a razors edge separated from the public site. Though it hasn't happened yet, it may be too easy to post a question publically by mistake. It may be better to have a separate subdomain or something.

The recommendations can be improved based on your search and in the meantime, more interactive bot can be implemented in the website to help with real time-assistance.

I'm solving support-related issues, and reading through the articles/questions that have been posted by my colleagues eases the process of not referring to escalating the issue once you have all the answers located with the keywords. Also, the voting is really awesome, so you can know how legit/valid is the article. The benefits are to decrease the case-solving lifetime, also not to use the senior agents but instead looking through the previously asked and submitted questions.
