"Great product, easy to manage"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

The familiarity of the stack overflow is great, it also helps to organize the questions with tags.

We use Microsoft Teams with stack overflow for teams.

There are no real competitors.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

I wish it would be a bit more versatile, i.e. if we could group Q&A to various topics and sort them more easily.

This product could be even better if we could easily integrate it into Jira.

Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:

Well, you need to try it, but it does the job.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

We solved constant repetitive questions on Teams, and instead are using Stack Overflow for the knowledge base of common questions.

Business performance always increases if you organize resources.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

Until now, I cannot name anything that can make me dislike using stack Overflow for teams because It's been only one month that I have been using it.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am using Stack Overflow for Teams to search for information that could help me finish some projects.

"Stack Overflow for teams"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

active engagement; responsive team; patient regarding all the different questions (especially around governance, controls) and contractual agreements / negotiations

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

I have to admit, that there wasn't really a whole lot that I didn't like. The contractual negotiations were frustrating at times but those normally are (at least the ones that I've participated in)

Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:

just do it

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

centralizing collaboration between engineers and developers as well as reducing the manual work associated with answering repeated questions

"Best source for valid responses."

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

The best thing I love about Stack is finding all responses to all asked questions quickly by using a keyword. People vote for those responses, and useful content is always available. Also, you will always receive updates about newly asked questions and ones that you did yourself, which helps you to stay up to date

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

I think there can be some UI improvements when creating your posts, reviewing and submitting them.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

Every time I need to verify my statements I always jump in Stack to see what other people, specialists think about the same questions or issues, which helps a lot.

"Build an expert system by asking your engineers to work as they always have worked"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

All software engineers end up at StackOverflow at some point or another. It's part of our DNA and we are used to this tool. Now we can build our internal documentation without effort, just by doing what we have done.

The gamification aspect of it is a huge incentive for workmates to collaborate and the search capabilities are as good as the public site.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

The QA format can some times lead to obsolete entries. Curating the right answers either proactively or while searching for solutions to problems is the not that nice aspect of this tool. However this is not a huge problem in my experience.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work at my company´s cloud branch, our software codebase is huge and diverse, it is imposible for any engineer to store all the details in her brain. Our internal stackoverflow allows us to ofload this memory pressure and share. Like in a Borg a hive mind it boosts our productivity.

"A great place for developers to share, update and search for knowledge of topics of interests."

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

Auto display of the questions that might be duplicates! This is a great feature that we don't find in other similar tools.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

Not being able to sort collections. It makes it difficult for a user to locate a specific collection of questions when there are many collections in the app.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

It now becomes less possible for someone to ask a duplicate question that has already been answered/explained before in Slack, JIRA or wiki.

Major benifits include: 1) now our developers have one place to go to when they have technical questions; 2) it reduces the support workload for our platform engineering developers.

"Getting rid of knowledge silos and making a corporate culture shift"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

Stack overflow is a great tool to make knowledge reusable. It brings down knowledge silos within your organization since people from all over the company can ask and answer questions.

By surfacing the knowledge hidden in your employees' heads, you make it reusable - and that can save you a lot of time your employees might otherwise spend in meetings.

On top of this, Stack Overflow for Teams comes with integrations into MS Teams and Slack, which makes it an integration point for the various channels that we hide knowledge in today.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

The UI can sometimes be a bit messy. The UI for asking, answering, commenting, and voting on questions is OK - these are the essential parts of the UI. The UIs for moderators, user profile management, and dashboards used to inspect statistics are sometimes messy, and things can be hard to find. Unfortunately, the help center is also not very prominently accessible, and although there is a host of helpful information in it, it's not easily accessible and not very well structured. For example, navigation between the help topics is not easily possible.

Also, the Stack Overflow instance is initially empty. Although a lot of the initial content needs to come from the company that deploys Stack Overflow, Stack Overflow could also provide some initial content. That mainly comprises best practice knowledge base articles and how-to's that people can read to get started quickly, e.g., how to ask questions correctly, answer them properly, what Stack should be used for, and whatnot.

Recommendations to others considering Stack Internal:

I think there is hardly a better tool for Q&A than Stack Overflow. It is well known from the public Internet. It is easy to use and supports markdown for asking and answering questions. We are running it as a pilot project before hopefully rolling it out to the entire company. We are generally pleased with the experience and support of Stack Overflow for Teams. I can recommend that product and the effect it may have on a large company where sharing knowledge is often a problem.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

We try to solve several problems with Stack Overflow. First, due to the company's size, there are many different departments, and exchanging knowledge between them is difficult. Usually, meetings are held to exchange knowledge between colleagues of differing departments. That is usually a point-to-point communication, and so the same information needs to be shared over and over again.

Additionally, a lot of the knowledge already shared in a reusable fashion is mainly hidden in various channels (Slack, MS Teams, Wikis, etc.).

We, therefore, need a tool that breaks down knowledge silos, makes knowledge reusable, and integrates our existing communication channels to surface the knowledge hidden there. Additionally, we position Stack Overflow as a central tool for employees to address their questions and answers. It is our central entry point for Q&A.

"Stack overflow is the godsend to anyone in the programming and coding business"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

Stack overflows ease of use great search feature which interpolates searches and its AMAZING community that go out of its way to help are what make it special and differentiates it from other online communities

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

The UI can be overwhelming and can be overhauled for a better user experience. As well an option to see which answers have been clicked on and searched before is good to sift through different solutions.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use StackOverflow mainly as a resource to find solutions for increasingly complicated solutions as well as give back to the great community by answering their own questions. Without doubt, StackOverflow has increased our productivity as it cuts time in our search for solutions.

"It's great to know that our team can help themselves all the time, even away by Covid-19."

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

We are always connected and generating a good knowledge base, which will last for the new generations of development teams.

The platform is always available, with no network interruptions and instabilities in the services. It's great!

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

It's a shame Free service does not own a Single Sign-On, or a shape of people through your logins requesting access to the team. It's always necessary for an admin to send the invite to the team's member email! :(

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a managed documentation platform internally, but we have always had problems with your management and administration.

Problems as instability are clerks in this service!

With the use of the Stack Overflow Teams, this ceased!

We have access to all our material and the possibility of producing content with an immense maturity in the documents since we can enjoy all his resources!

"Great collaborative platform for knowledge exhange"

What do you like best about Stack Internal?

Stack Overflow is a well-known and much used platform in the IT sector around the world. It is easy to use, and it enables smooth knowledge exchange within the company. It has great search capabilities, tag management and can draw the right content to the right people and vice versa. The support for the platform is excellent - we get special treatment and lots of recommendations. All questions are answered fast and with helpful tips and suggestions.

What do you dislike about Stack Internal?

There isn't much to dislike with Stack Overflow. The only thing to mention is that it is a different kind of platform - requires active user interaction, and it takes some time to adjust - to draw the audience and add the initial knowledge.

What problems is Stack Internal solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Stack Overflow to store, share and enhance the knowledge within the company. All the generic, repeatable questions get posted in Stack Overflow and are well organized with tags. This eases the onboarding process as well as stores reusable information readily available for everyone that may need it. Stack Overflow enables the accessibility to the information. You can look at it as a map leading to your required knowledge. The most significant benefit is the user interacted knowledge sharing - it is a different approach and more direct to specifics and based on the experience with the product or combination of products.
