UI: In the new connect edition, Staad has improved its UI to a very great extent , now the style, colors, placement of toolbars looks more aesthetic and reachable. The tools are now stacked well in their respective areas, so that one can easily access them, previously the tools were stacked randomly all over the area and now it has been taken care of.

Analysis Engine: The analysis part is very quick and easy, even for high rise buildings, You can analyze steel, RCC, Timber structures in a very efficient way. Commands like OPTIMIZE, TAKE-OFF are very much useful.

Post-Processing methods: Base reaction and Member diagram are easy to access and good in detail. 3D rendering option also helps in looking at your problem systematically.

Workflow: Importing and Exporting is quite easy and quick in Staad, you can transfer models into CAD also and then can transfer it to other 3rd party tools.

Design: Staad pro is awesome while designing and it shows the members total utilization limit, which helps in deciding the perfect member size for the building.

Command File: It helps in keeping all the input commands in a systematic way and you can either use command file directly or the UI input, both are good for making models.

Performance: Staad can still optimize its performance regarding tool selection and input procedure, Sometime it takes too much efforts to input commands for beginners.

Structure Diagrams: Diagrams can be made more colorful and detailed, like etabs have. Animations can be added to the software for showing deformations.

Member Selections: Selection of a particular member is very cumbersome in Staad pro, it's very easy in Etabs software. Also Deselections needs optimize also.

First thing first, the GUI always has an impact on users and I am glad to say that user interface is very friendly.One f the things that i appreciate are the faster methods of designing a structure and eventually saves a lot of time. The analysis and design becomes handy thanks for providing a large variety of design codes. The easy to learn this software is a plus point which will increase the number of users. It allows users to create their own templates and designs, so more freedom and flexibility. The most loving feature of this software is that international country codes are available. Once the analysis is performed, the last post processing step is to generate reports and have a close look in details and unfortunately the proper detailing of reports is not available. The main limitation in design is to analyse parabolic beam and curvy boundaries which does not provide effective analysis of structure. It would be nice to have cost estimation. The ability to analyze various structures like residential Buildings, educational Buildings, commercial Buildings, hort span Bridges and the list goes on. It has proved to be a very efficient and effective solution for design problems. The accuracy of the results is commendable. I was able to successfully use STAAD.PRO for Various deign like (PEB Structures, warehouse), Auditorium, Retaining walls, Water tank, RCC buildings. The interface can be made more user friendly. The software is not know to alot of people and thus missing out to be a forerunner in its category. I believe some promotional and marketing strategies are required to boost its publicity so that it becomes common and easily available to all people. The user interface of the software is really good. One can learn how to use this software in short span of time. One can do both Line modeling & Finite Element Modeling (FEM). Software provides options for both Analysis of structure & Design of structure using variety of codes including Indian, American, British, etc. It is a software that all the Structural Engineers should try their hands on. It is very accurate and user friendly. It is one of the best structural analysis software. I also like the product because it is easy for new learners. It helps you learn quickly when the task is simple and clear. especially when you assign element properties and so on. I really like the staad editor shortcut tool, it helps a lot with quick editing. It can be made easier to use when inputting values. I have to enter dead loads manually. It's a tiring program. When for example I need to draw beams, I need to draw each beam from the beginning of the point until the end, there's nothing that is like quickly done. If for example, there's a 10 meter beam, you can not just add draw it immediately all at once, you need to draw from 1 to 2 meters to 3 and so on until you get to 10 meters. One bad thing is that it always gives higher demand for steel structures when compared to other programs. So it can sometimes make less cost effective designs. I also feel that it has limitations when designing more complex shaped structures, with curves and angles. Also when there is an error in the model. it doesn't tell you specifically where the error or mistake is. I have to go over the whole model and check everything to finally find the mistake.
