They have not allowed us to continue to pay for the domain even though we have submitted the feather certificate, bill of sale showing the domain is now ours, and the business EIN registration. Communication is through chat or email. We are constantly redirected to other departments and never get any resolution. We have had to spend countless hours changing domains and emails for a business that has been running for 6 years. Having to contact all existing clients and potential clients of the change in hopes they understand. **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Squarespace creates problems for me. They haven't allowed us to pay for our domain despite having all required documents, and their support is just chat or email with no resolution. ### 2. The web creator is quite handy as well. **What do you dislike about Squarespace?** It's buggy, and customer support is not helpful. In their terms of service, they also have no warranties or guarantees for their services. What in practice means that whenever their error severely affects your company you can't do anything about it :) While migrating domains from google domains they have an error that blocks users from using their domains as well as google workspaces(emails). The error has been ongoing for a few weeks already, it only appears when you have to renew the domain for the next year. For a few weeks, some people cannot access their domain and emails. What is worse the user cannot even transfer the domain to other hosting platforms due to their error. When I contacted customer support they were pretending as it was a new issue. Only after 3rd conversation, I found out about the scale of the problem. They could have warned me about the problem cause they had known about it for the last few weeks(saw people complaining on it for 6-7 weeks already) so I could prepare, migrate my stuff, contact my clients etc. Instead, they thought that it is a great idea to hide it. Now my company is left with no website and no email and it looks like we are close which seriously affects our credibility and I am their hostage as due to error I cannot transfer my domain somewhere else. Can't even demand any money as compensation due to their terms of service. I decided to create another page on the website as everything is already set up in webpage creator and I needed to do it quickly. I already regret it. When I created a Google Workspace for the new domain I was unable to add any users. I was getting a "cannot process payment" error multiple times even though my money was charged. So far the problem has not been resolved. If would recommend not using Squarespace services. Try to use a different provider if possible. Shame that I was made to migrate my stuff here when they bought Google domains. **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** They provide hosting to my website as well are resellers of Google Workspace for my company. ### 3. This happened to me first when they acquired Weebly and more recently when they acquired Google domains It is an absolute dumpster fire and there is no automated way to fix the issues in their customer service is woefully inadequate so it takes many months to get anything resolved This is unacceptable when you're trying to run a business and you need to access your domain! **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's not solving any problems it's creating problems both Weebly and Google domains for good products and when squarespace acquired them they turned into garbage. I never wanted to work with squarespace I was forced to by both of these mergers. ### 4. Hate, despise, and detest are better words. I hate that I bought my domain from Google Domains and then was forced to accept the takeover by Squarespace. I despise Squarespace for not having an easy customer service contact process. I have been trying to speak to someone from Squarespace for 3 days now with NO response. I already paid my annual domain subscription for this year and my next payment is supposed to be due in May 2025. However, Squarespace billed me twice in the space of 3 months without explanation or warning. Squarespace is the only company left back in 1999. There is NO WAY to reach a human. No phone support. Online chatbot does not have humans, only generate email support request. Email support response time is not at almost three weeks and counting with no contact. I've submitted four email support requests in three weeks with NO response on any of them. The problem is with payment processing on their end that I have no means to resolve and as a result my subscription has lapsed and they've suspended our companies website. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE practice. Professional and efficient. Exemplary customer support model for other businesses, but I cannot say the same about their product. **What do you dislike about Squarespace?** I dislike many things, here are the two most annoying things of them: 1. The Squarespace builder is overly convoluted - to change a font, you need to go to 3 different menus! 2. The layout customisation is too restrictive - it's customising (a few) pre-made elements. From my experience, you don't actually have options to add any additional layout features (call to action, testimonials, pricing lists etc.) **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Personally, Squarespace does not solve problems for me, but rather creates them. Functionality limitations are all over the place. Lost a MAJOR client because of it. Tech support is useless. Can't even purchase emails without running into roadblocks. No a great decision with many flaws. I was told they would get the issue of connecting the newsletter, and other issues fixed in a few days. A week later i have no emails, and no responses, and on chat they are not able to handle this. If you are a business making money, i highly suggest sticking with mailchimp or another provider, as once you get into a problem, squarspace are super average. I am back on mailchimp, and won't be going back as my business has suffered. ### 14. Their data centers would have been ideal for us, as well as their elegant designs. Squarespace is liquid, which would have been great for us. We would have liked to keep using the easy adaptable editor that Squarespace provided to edit the site. **What do you dislike about Squarespace?** Unfortunately, Squarespace did not meet our needs in terms of price and flexibility. Squarespace did not let us export the site, and required a minimum payment of $12/mo, just for hosting. Squarespace did not let us use a custom domain either, and the design was not perfect, either. Plus, email transfers using MX records were too complicated, and there was no obvious option for implimenting A records to use external domains. **Recommendations to others considering Squarespace:** If you are using Squarespace, you must understand that Squarespace is very limiting in terms of its connectivity and adaptability. You must buy and use everything within Squarespace (domain, hosting, emails) as this would be ideal for best accessibility. **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** We would have solved many problems if Squarespace adapted to our needs. We were simply not able to transfer our domain to Squarespace, as Squarespace really wanted us to do. Squarespace should exist as a content management system inside GoDaddy; this could have been very helpful. The reason why Squarespace is so expensive is probably because they continue to try to exist alone; they should combine with a partner or become open source (free), or possibly both. ### 16. After a while you receive an email which I have discovered does not address your question or resolve your problem. I have spent hours and hours trying to get answers I need and have had no luck to date. Absolutely terrible customer service. Avoid like the plague. **Recommendations to others considering Squarespace:** I like Squarespace's usability on its platform (CMS) but I find its customer service for any help needed terrible. The only way to contact Squarespace for help is via its online messaging service, after which there is a lengthy wait of up to a couple of days, after which the answer you get is unhelpful and doesn't solve your problem. It is absolutely driving me nuts and to be honest I wish I had never set my website on Squarespace because of it. I want to move the web files to another web host. God knows how long that will take to arrange if I ever manage it. It is great for people who have little experience in web design but want something that looks decent. It is also nice that all your webpages are under the same login. Things that we struggle with include alternate languages, lack of plugins, inability to edit gallery and shop pages, and much more. However, in this case, it means they have no telephone support, higher pricing than the publicly held competitor (godaddy) and manipulate their product offerings and pricing plans frequently in such a way that they've become an unreliable business partner. I would flat-out not recommend doing business with Squarespace under any circumstances. **Recommendations to others considering Squarespace:** Based on their un-announced fee hikes, it appears that they're headed in the wrong direction. I wouldn't be surprised to see them either acquired, or bankrupt within the next year. Avoid at all costs. **What problems is Squarespace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not applicable. Originally, I had begun a relationship with Squarespace as I build simple websites for clients, then hand over the logins to the client and move on. Unfortunately, Squarespace decided, without notice, to put up a pay wall, moving dozens of important features into a higher priced product tier without notice, and without care for the impact it would have on those customers. This change increases their cost by approximately 40%. Great for them, not so great for their fellow small business customers. ### 20. People have requested password protection/membership site support literally for years. Among many other features. And while they remain very friendly people, they just don't seem to listen to their customers repeated requests for features. **Recommendations to others considering Squarespace:** Consider a WordPress based solution. Squarespace has easier setup. Worse than Wix. Often, I have new businesses looking to open an online store. Squarespace is a good trial in my opinion versus spending a ton of money on a fully customized ecommerce site just to learn that you didnt become an overnight success.
