The ability to split the editor and run SQL queries on one side and develop Python scripts on the other side is the best part for me. Python environment is easy to set up, in the settings you just point to the python .exe. Another great feature is the ability to create your own extensions. I've created my own extensions which run SQL code and produce a graph so that we can monitor certain BI systems. What's great about this is that you can then share these extensions between your team so everyone has it. They're also very easy to add to Op Studio **What do you dislike about Azure Data Studio?** It is a lot easier to do certain things in SQL Management Studio than SQL Operations Studio. Things like the catalogs are just better viewed and used in SSMS than Op Studio. Viewing Jobs is also better in SSMS, although there is an extension in Operation Studio to view Jobs on the server, overall it's just easier to stick with the former. The custom Dashboards are annoying. If you don't make them an extension then the dashboard appears across all the servers homepage, so you get a lot of blank containers as most dashboards are server specific - It may be me being stupid but none of my team have figured a way to fix that other than making an extension. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Data Studio:** If you're doing Machine Learning like myself using Python and also need to query SQL databases, then its perfect. To split the console and run Python and SQL queries and easily save the SQL result into a csv to be then used in your Python language is easy. **What problems is Azure Data Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monitoring various BI applications through the use of custom dashboards extensions. Instead of having to open scripts and running them, just opening SQL Operations Studio then connecting the required server and having a visual representation is just a lot easier. When users come to me asking if they can get SSMS, I generally point them to SQLOPS first. It handles most things people need to do. There are plenty of admin tasks that can be done here too. I like that I can now give a SQL client to my mac users. I like that I can paste a script into a query window and easily right-click an object to see its definition rather than having to find it in the object explorer. **What do you dislike about Azure Data Studio?** I haven't quite gotten used to the interface after having used SSMS for so many years, but it's useful when I'm on a server that doesn't have SQL installed. For example when I'm on a server hosting any given app, it's nice to have a lightweight query tool I can put on that server to quickly examine the apps associated database without loading it down with SSMS. As an admin, I don't have any visibility into everything, so I have to switch back and forth between SQLOPS and SSMS. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Data Studio:** I can see where it would be a very good tool for **What problems is Azure Data Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Lightweight, quick to set up and start using so I recommend it to users that don't need all of the features of SSMS. It's a good product and I'm sure there will be more benefits as time goes on, but for right now, it's just a tool I use as a quick interface when SSMS isn't available. ### 33.
