Knowing the search direction helps a lot. I made tots of costly movements in the wrong directions before residing to spyFu. The dashboard and competitors' search is easy and intuitive. It gives insights into competitors' success that you may want to replicate or exceed. The next step is looking into the right keywords that will propel the PPCs, and spyFu helps to find them too. **What do you dislike about SpyFu?** I'm not too fond of that services that may become really costly... we don't change the landing page that often; the number of times I need the tool is really limited. **What problems is SpyFu solving and how is that benefiting you?** SpyFu helped to make the landing page search-friendly and shape PPC ads to more clickable content. I mostly use the platform for SEO Research and analysis as well as keyword research. **What do you dislike about SpyFu?** I don't particularly appreciate that the data provided isn't always live and entirely up to date. It can sometimes be frustrating, so a good improvement would be to update the data more often. **What problems is SpyFu solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the most significant benefits of using SpyFu is analyzing competitors from an SEO point of view. It makes our team a lot more productive as we now spend less time gathering data, but the data is far more in-depth. **Official Response from Sidra Condron:** > Hi Dan. Thank you for taking time to share a review of SpyFu! Glad to see that you're building it into your client presentations and prep work. You also picked up on something we've been working on for a while: our data is now updated more frequently than ever. We have always published keyword updates at least once a month and now we are publishing keyword data updates as they come in. Plus, we do this at all points during the month. We are also going deeper--using results from the 100th SEO position instead of stopping at 50. Thanks for helping to keep us on our toes! ### 3. Much more affordable than a lot of options in the marketplace. **What do you dislike about SpyFu?** Difficult to know whether you are looking at UK or US data. Undermines confidence a bit The Ux is confusing and I struggle to navigate. However this is not unusual for SEM tools. **What problems is SpyFu solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. I changed to another vendor. ### 4. Cool tool, I use it - but... **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Sylvia F. | Chief Marketing Officer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2018 **What do you like best about SpyFu?** For competitive analysis as a branding and marketing leader, it's a great tool to see how competition is spending, their keywords, the tools they are using (when applicable), their traffic stats, etc. I think SpyFu is on the right path and when their technology advances, we'll all be the smarter for it. **What do you dislike about SpyFu?** The print to a pdf reporting tool is not very good - actually, the reporting tool, in general, could use an upgrade for better UX. I've also found discrepancies in data within the same report - I realize this is the code, or algorithmic, but I think it could vastly be improved. **Recommendations to others considering SpyFu:** For visual presentations, screenshotting or building your own presentations vs. using their reporting is best. Their reports in a PDF for example, will at times completely cut off in the wrong spot, so you are losing half of your report off page somewhere. **What problems is SpyFu solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used this tool for multiple clients to give them the reality of their online competition, vs. their perceived competition. Also, showing what kind of digital spending is taking place is helpful when arguing for a larger spend on behalf of the client. ### 5. It is absolutely packed with features and data. I'm confident it's one of the top two SEO research suites out there and the absolute best in many categories. **What do you dislike about SpyFu?** Because it is so packed with features and benefits, it has quite a steep learning curve. Even with their extensive videos and tutorials (all well done) be prepared to study and practice quite a bit before solid implementation of your SEO plan. **Recommendations to others considering SpyFu:** As I said, be prepared for a steep learning curve. **What problems is SpyFu solving and how is that benefiting you?** None.
