I find SpyFu pretty easy to use and is a great way to uncover basic information about prospective clients and competitors. I frequently use it to determine keywords and bids and to help come up with new ads and marketing approaches. SpyFu also helps me figure out who else is bidding on my primary keywords and what words we should focus our SEO efforts on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't know how accurate the information is, but I do feel like it's directional. For example, if SpyFu says a company bills $10,000, I doubt that that's correct because spend and bid data don't correspond 100% with what my clients are actually spending. If it says a company spends 10x as much as another, then it's probably true that one company has a massively larger budget than the other. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Tons of data, great analysis of competitors and ways to compete (both strategic and tactical). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I did not know this before purchasing our license, but the tool is not designed for companies that compete locally. As a small law firm we fight for market share vigorously. When I noticed that some of the reports and data did not apply to us I reached out to support where they told me it was not designed to be used like we were.
From Support:
"....we index on a national level only. If your domain is focused only on local and only advertise locally, it is going to be incredibly difficult for us to see your domain's advertisements."
We use Google Adwords, Facebook and Yelp to advertise with a large budget, but our ads are hyper focused on a small region. So I am kind of bummed, but at the same time the tool still provides us a good amount of data, and we already bought it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It makes it so easy to analyze what the competition is doing. I also think the additional tools for helping understand keywords is a great mix/replacement of moz and Google's Keyword Planner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Ad Spend is clearly off sometimes in it's estimates. I wish you could connect your actual ad accounts so it could learn and run some better comparisons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
100% Easy to use. Thorough explanation videos of features. They do an excellent job of communicating and adjusting based on our needs. They are always willing to track additional keywords that are niche specific. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is tough as there are not many things I do not like about this product. I suppose the limitations of the lower tier plan are the only drawbacks.
However, they are still better then other tools when compared to the other tools low end plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Spyfu is a game changer for someone interested in search engine marketing. My favorite features are
#1 Being able to see what other sites are both ranking for and keywords they are bidding on along with their ads.
#2 being able to organize each marketing campaign into projects, this tracks your keyword rankings, organized desired keywords into groups, and helps you stay organized with networking and outreach too.
#3 Keyword research features are amazing.
#4 Best customer support around.
I totally recommend using Spyfu Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I think there is more robust keyword ranking data about competitor sites on other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ease of finding the information that I'm looking for. Everything I need to know, and didn't know I needed to know, can easily be filtered out or in. I think my favorite thing is seeing the trend line for our increase in rankings over 6 months and longer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, the only think I don't love is the formatting/styling of the reports. The look feels 'outdated'. The font size is so small, it's hard to read and the colors and charts feel a bit 90's. However, the overall content is spot-on! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that I can see top search terms and see what my competitors are buying. I also love how I can learn what questions my customers are asking. There are so many awesome features that have given us an advantage over our competition. I am constantly researching using this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing. There is nothing I would change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do I like best? I like that I can look at my competitors' best keywords and their best ads. I especially like that SpyFu keeps an historical archive of those ads. That's critical because it shows which ads they have been using and for how long. The longer the ad runs, the more effective it must be, or they wouldn't continue running it. It reveals all their past ad testing and what they settles on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think SpyFu is great and I can't honestly identify anything that I dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you want to collect data for a particular business than Spyfu is the right tool for that. You can get real time data on your competitor SEO and improve your own Website and also can get information in a short time. Spyfu is one of the greatest tool I have ever used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing to dislike. For me so fare is a great tool. It would be better if there were more video ex plainer for free there. so fare good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ability to search important and/or competitor keywords to determine how / where searches are originating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Can be a little confusing and challenging to use and understand at first.
As far as I know, small limit on the number of competitors you can compare at one time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Helpful visual representations to educate non-technical decision makers about competition and areas for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The information provided has potential to cause spending on adwords that do not generate revenue. Some of the competitive terms (Auto Dealership) are not applicable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We're using it for SEO. We were able to quickly & easily figure out how to use the system. Far more valuable than Google Console reports because I'm always wondering, what are the commonly-searched keywords and phrases in our space where we are not yet ranking, yet our competitors are? SpyFu has uncovered a treasure trove.
As we try PPC, I look forward to using Spyfu to help us target.
I like the fun interface. It helps make the mind-numbing tasks interesting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had to upload most of the keywords from our Google Console reports because they weren't already in SpyFu. Adding them was easy -- I had a cut n paste list from Excel. But it took awhile for the system to add them to our reports. Now the keywords are in there, and we're getting valuable info about them.
The majority of keywords for us and competitors show as having 0 estimated clicks, 0 monthly searches. Really? Some seem like they would get more searches than is being reported. Or, maybe this is what it is.
All the information given is great but can quickly get overwhelming. I'm developing my own prioritization approach. Offering recommended ways to prioritize and act on the SpyFu findings would enhance the service. Or maybe this exists and I haven't found it yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to analyze the data from several angles without having to upload the data into my own spreadsheets. Using it for several businesses I have no trouble keeping tabs on which project I am working on and then equally having the data grouped in what I feel is an instinctive manner. Granted I am a spreadsheet nerd so to speak. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly I cant think of anything I dislike about it. At first it seemed that it may be overwhelming to learn but I think that what you see is the creators presenting a platform that users of different disciplines can learn to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that I can get snapshots of competitors highest performing ads, along with great keyword research and planning tools all in one web-based app. The Keyword research and planning tools are great and being able to export into CSV files helps keep things organized outside of SpyFu as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly not sure I've found a dislike yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The PPC competitor tools are very useful. It's a good way to see keyword overlap between competitors as well as the delta in target keywords. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The campaign saving system is not really useful. I tend to use the system on an "on-the-fly" basis most frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SpyFu gives me the ability to ethically spy on competition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really can't say that I dislike anything. I have use for everything that SpyFu offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm not an expert on SEO but with Spyfu I have leraned lot of things.
I find really intersting the deep analysis of competitors and super useful the backlink tools.
I also like the video explanations , they are well done and they teach you some tricks . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the weak part is the section about the adv keywords .
it works well if there is a big volume of investment otherwise the conpetiros champain are not trakable .
in thsi section whne there are ebough data again there is asuper tool that allow you to see the adv message that are interesting for the copy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The competitor (Kombat) functionality is great as is the google export option. You can add your own terms for them start tracking. Live chat support is second to none. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It' d be nice if they had a quick assessment tool to audit your site with exact recommendations for fixes - but this is available for free so many places on the web and really for novices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the jovial interface. None of these tool sets like spyfu are 100% accurate when it comes to looking into how competitors are bidding on terms , how they rand for SEO etc. SpyFu however consistently seems to be more accurate than most, gives easy to use graphs for clients to see and allows us to make sales by consulting with our customers and potential cusomers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I really dislike is the same issue with any tool like this, that is the accuracy. because these tools simply can't "see behind the curtain" because of privacy issues, they must take data from what they see externally and 'piece it together' SpyFu does a decent job of this, I just both wish and don't wish that it could be more accurate. ( I like seeing what others are doing, don't really others looking into me ! LOL) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SpyFu is such a valuable tool for forensic research on keywords and competitors. It's a must have for anyone who really wants to use data and metrics to not only discover new keywords, but also dig deeper into why the keyword may be a good fit and why competitors might be using it. Not to mention, it also allows you to track your keyword rankings, analyze all things PPC and backllinks. You clearly get a ton of value for the price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've not really discovered anything I do not like about SpyFu. Maybe one limitation is that it could include data from more countries or at least regional data to aid in those working internationally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I’m a digital marketing professional and I have used Spyfu for SEO research and PPC marketing. My favorite toll is the ads history of your competitors. I have found it has been extremely useful in our campaigns. There’s lots of data! So much that it can get overwhelming in figuring out how to use it all! But that’s a good problem to have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Spyfu has been so great! I still haven’t used all the tools so I am not sure if there is anything missing. The only thing it seems they are missing is actually giving their users ads that would work for their specific company haha! But they are a research tool, a very powerful one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been able to cut my Adwords budget by almost 40% while increasing website traffic and sales. By seeing what my competitors ads look like, checking keywords being used by others in my industry and using the advice from SpyFu for additional keywords my targeting is much more affective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes a competitor that I want to check out is not in the database yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SpyFu is the most comprehensive and user-friendly tool of its kind! I've tried several and found SpyFu to be the easiest to navigate! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's very robust and I find myself getting sucked in to searching and exploring for more info than what I need. Sort of like going to the grocery store for ONE item and coming home with a car full of stuff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Spyfu is consistently my "go to" tool when not only investigating the competition but also how we stack up against them. I find the SEO Keyword tools to be invaluable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the SEO Keywords would update more than once a month. It is hard to do detailed analysis when the data set is too static. I also find the PPC keyword lists to often be out-of-date. I would suggest a semi-monthly update schedule or even better yet, every other week. I often hold off running reports if I know the data will not update for another week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The competitive analysis of SEO and PPC as well as identifying keyword opportunities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there were more options of comparison and sorting the list based on URLs you add. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
