We needed a better solution for hosting and controlling videos in a k12 school setting. YouTube was not a great solution, as it is blocked on many school domains. I do wish we could control some of the theming-- it might be because of the plan we are on, but I am not able to change the look and style of individual playlists. Sproutvideo allows us to manage and control all our own content---other video platforms that are commonly used in K12 education are inconsistent with how filtering solutions interact with them. Because we use Sproutvideo, we can control the interaction between our content filter and our videos-- which is not true if we used the most other common video platform in k12 education (YouTube). I like how SproutVideo has an easy-to-follow UX design. I don't often have to visit support when I perform a task I haven't done before. There are only two things I would change about Sprout. Firstly I would like to have sharing links that allow for downloads. Secondly, I find the search function is not the best as you need to know what the title is. I would like to be able to search via tags instead of just filtering by tags. The user interface is easy to navigate. There are tons of features if you are serious about tracking your metrics and even marketing. Honestly, we don't even take full advantage of what's available. Just like any video hosting service, sometimes videos are a little slow to be served when embedded in a website, but we haven't experienced any major outages. It has obvious advantages over using YouTube or Vimeo for this purpose since you have full control of your content, and we can protect our intellectual property right better. The portal is easy to use and the site provides analytical information. The customer service is also great! Ideally, we would like to be able to have daily reports sent to the team via email. Unfortunately, the portal isn't set up with this function so I have to generate the reports manually. It used to take me 15-30 minutes to download each individual video report however, Sprout recently made it much easier and faster to get the information. Now, I only take about 5 minutes. In addition, it would be great if Sprout offered an unlimited bandwidth option. We are currently over the limit so we need to pay an additional amount each month. However, the amount is reasonable.
