I have been using Sprout Video for years now. I do not need to spend much time sending or managing my videos loaded to Sprout Video. It is straightforward and I can spend more time on my business. I am also in complete control of who can watch particular videos. So it does exactly what I need without much of my time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only thing I don't like is the processing time on their server to format the file before I can post the link to my website. But this time is required to make the file flexible to the end audience. SproutVideo has been a great service for my company. We need to have a reliable video player service with access control. The detailed video analytics has been very helpful in determining how our content is being consumed and if there are common areas where the viewer is needing to rewatch content. The live streaming options are just not feasible for us to use. I burned through streaming minutes very quickly. I would also like to be able to have more than one video landing page. A feature that I would love to see if the ability to add in a quiz or survey question that prevents the video from advancing unless answered by the viewer. Maybe something for a future release? I work for a growing visual FX company; we work on top-quality network and streaming shows. Our calling card is our website, and we showcase all of our work via our website. We moved to Sprout years ago after realizing that hosting our videos (on our web server) was just a plan fated for disaster. We eventually moved to Sprout, which was over five years ago. We found sprout had solid encoding capabilities...everything looks great. Sprout was also technical-minded enough that we could try some unique embeds (like 2.39:1 film anamorphic). There is a lot to like, but way back in the day - if you played a video, you could choose and end-action. You would think one of the end actions would loop to the beginning of the clip, display a thumbnail. Of course, we had to talk with tech support for a moment about this glaring omission. They supplied us with a "code snippet" that we inserted into the page along with the embed code. While this did work, I would have preferred a GUI. Eventually, we found it was pretty easy to fold in the extra code to our PHP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My experience with Sprout Video has been seamless and supportive. Our online school offers a curriculum of 77+ video lessons, and Sprout has been a user-friendly and capable way to integrate and embed our video offerings to students -- with additional layers of security and settings that complement our site aesthetics and needs. I want to add that Sprout Video's support staff is highly responsive and competent, yet my greatest compliment is that we have not needed their guidance much -- they designed Sprout thoughtfully! My favorite aspects of Sprout Video are:

1) Variety of ways users can access the videos, allowing our business control over who sees what and how. (Ex: Logging in, password-protected, visibility settings, etc)

2) Easily accessible and understandable viewer data. Who saw what, and what does it mean.

The feature most lacking in Sprout Video is the ability to categorize viewer log-ins into different categories. Sharing to a specific subset of viewers is administratively challenging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the flexibility in configuring the player options to embed on our sites for marketing purposes. We're familiar with other platforms like Wistia and JWPlayer and this is a good alternative solution with flexible pricing to match. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Price is about right. API capabilities help fulfill my need. My platform uploads videos to SproutVideo via API, I don't need to login and upload manually. Also, Javascript helps me control, monitor, and track usages of each and individual user so I can bill clients based on usage. Its transcoder is fast enough (even faster/more engines with a higher tier of membership) and helps me a lot in preparing different bit rates of my uploaded videos (upload once, and it does this job automatically), and yes, it dynamically adjusts and streams proper variances to the playing device. Nothing I dislike. Sometime there are problem with backend engine e.g. transcoding pool, etc. But I believe this happens to other provides as well. They just don't tell us. But SproutVideo always informs me via SMS of incident, and once again it's fixed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Sprout only for adding password protected videos and I would like to have the option on generate password for each person / user.

SproutVideo has a responsive player that works well on desktop and mobile. It is great to be able to customize the playback setting for volume, speed, and quality. Their options for adding calls to action within the player itself are also beneficial, and their 30-Day trial is pretty generous. Their privacy settings are also helpful for whitelisting domains, and protecting embeds is helpful. Video landing pages are also useful when sharing one or more single videos with collaborators. The privacy and security features are pretty limiting, especially when using the video websites feature. Their video websites feature could be improved because SproutVideo currently requires videos to be set to "public" to display on the video website. The video websites are only available on the more expensive plans and they do not offer much in terms of add-on features, so users must upgrade to a higher plan even if you want just one or two additional features, which is unfortunate.
