SproutVideo makes it easy to host a video and use it as a background video on your website. The documentation is clear and concise. We needed a better solution for hosting and controlling videos in a k12 school setting. YouTube was not a great solution, as it is blocked on many school domains. There are only two things I would change about Sprout. Firstly I would like to have sharing links that allow for downloads. Secondly, I find the search function is not the best as you need to know what the title is. I would like to be able to search via tags instead of just filtering by tags. Sprout Video (SV) has a great platform for video streaming for corporate paywall-based systems like ours and allowed us to start the service quickly without needing to hire more infrastructure staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ideally, we would like to be able to have daily reports sent to the team via email. Unfortunately, the portal isn't set up with this function so I have to generate the reports manually. It used to take me 15-30 minutes to download each individual video report however, Sprout recently made it much easier and faster to get the information. Now, I only take about 5 minutes.

Noting really. Pricing is a normal sticky subject but Sprout allows you to freeze your account. I'm froze my account for months at a time when I don't have any active listings then I turned it back on as a resume link when I was job searching. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sprout Video and other video hosting services on the market today seem to target a marketing audience--they are designed for businesses that want to push their video content publicly. As such, they advertise features such as lead tracking and SEO, with an obvious goal of helping you get as many views as possible and track those views. In that sense, Sprout is pretty similar to any other video hosting service on the market.

However, I was looking for something different. I wanted a video hosting solution that I could use to post tutorial videos on our online help site. We did not want them to be public or "unlisted," where you need the link to be able to view them, but anyone with the link can view them. We wanted them to be played only where we embed them, and nowhere else. This is the differentiator with Sprout Video. When you set the security of a video to "private," you can embed it anywhere, and it can be viewed only there. If someone gets their hands on the link, they can't view it from the link URL.
