The way you've always done things might not be the best way to do things. The network of the Specright community can help improve your process flows and make them more efficient. The Specright platform is unlike other data management programs. They don't give you a program out of the box and tell you how to do your work. They provide you with a tool that actually works for your needs and to support your workflows. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have now been able to develop a central repository of information regarding our products and all associated documentation. Having a centralized data management system allows us to have confidence in the data we are referencing and know that everyone is working off of the same information. We are able to spend less time searching for applicable documents and more time on value building activities to drive the company forward. We are now using the data stored in Specright to drive process improvements internally and in collaboration with our external partners. I can also see who our backup suppliers are in case we have a huge influx of orders and need to utilize them. This helps me give them plenty of lead time on items they don't typically make. **What do you dislike about Specright?** I wish I could search by our material numbers instead of just the vendor numbers. This way I could pull up their multiple vendor numbers for each of our individual material numbers. Right now I have to search for what their vendor numbers are or email them for the information. It would be so much easier if I could search for our material number and it bring up all their vendor numbers. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** I think this is a great way to keep track of inventory levels- especially if you have multiple vendors. You can adjust the levels that you wish them to produce to and stay at for safety, and see which vendors are backups that you can utilize in times of need. It really helps keep things super organized for all instead of just relying on excel sheets. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to see which vendor has what and if we really need to place additional orders. It also helps me to see who the backup vendors are in case we have to call them in for help. I can also assess when things are below our target levels so I can address the issues ahead of time and save us from unnecessary cuts. ### 3. Also being able to quickly search for a specific spec. **What do you dislike about Specright?** Getting everything initially set up took time, but it's worth the trouble. There were a few hiccups due to how the code was set up, but the support staff was great in fixing those issues very quickly for us. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** It may seem like a huge thing to get implemented, but the support staff will work with you and your company to keep things going at a good pace so that it's not all done at once. It's spread out so that you're not overwhelmed with information. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** Gathering all our specs into one central location rather than spread out over multiple platforms and formats. One of our biggest problems was the long email chains between ourselves and supplies and information would get lost. We were using Microsoft word and Outlook to communicate specifications and changes. We are now using a flexible, fully searchable database with automated communication routing, full reporting and consistent template specifications for all packaging commodities. This tool is saving our teams a lot of time and making the specification part of NPD much more efficient. Specright also have a great team of software and packaging industry experts. They are not only able to see the problems from your perspective as a Packaging Developer, they have also experienced the very same problems at first hand. From my perspective this puts them above any other packaging system provider. No translation is required in going from problem to problem solving when developing new aspects of the tool. **What do you dislike about Specright?** Sometimes development has not been strictly linear and has taken longer than desired due to resource constraints as Specright is a start up. Other times in their own enthusiasm Specright have been over optimistic in timelines and capabilities. However, we have formed a knowledge sharing relationship that has been mutually beneficial for both parties and have grown together in this project. Overall the positives by far outweigh the negatives. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** Specification Communication : Automated Work Routing, saves time gives transparency of Supplier approvals and those that are not playing ball. System Integration to ERP: Ongoing Problem Solving and development, this will bring the product BOM into our instance of Specright and make it considerably more powerful. Standardization: Development of Standard Templates for all 45 commodities of Packaging we specify. The software allows for a great amount of flexibility for both industry and company specific needs. Specright is constantly working to add or modify aspects that improve their value while still being user friendly. **What do you dislike about Specright?** Data entry is tedious in nature, so make sure you have an efficient plan from start to finish before diving in! Specific application to Specright- there is a limit to number of customizable fields. It's high, but we hit it, and could have avoided that with a little more planning. There are some additional integrations I would like to see, but they are in the works, so problem solved (soon)! Currently, working with automation engineering teams to migrate factory production equipment, automation, and fork lift fleet data to Specright. My organization has in excess of 700 fork lifts in various stages of leases, rentals or needing to make economic validation to make purchases of existing equipment. It is a fantastic tool for searching and comparing so much of the information that we regularly need to work on day to day production tasks. It is also incredibly easy to upload data using their mass upload portal. This feature lets users upload thousands of rows of data with many columns, all at once. It's incredible. The dashboard feature seems very powerful, and I cannot wait to learn how to better utilize this feature for generating and easily comparing the different data sets that we have gathered. Having our data localized in an area where anyone with access can easily and instantly find the information they are looking for is an amazing improvement to our team's operations. **What do you dislike about Specright?** I dislike that the software can be intimidating initially, just like learning any other software. It can take a bit of time to learn how to properly find what you're looking for when building reports as the connections between libraries are kind of confusing. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** This software has been a great addition for our team. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** Specright provides an amazing tool for gathering and centralizing data from various sources. Knowing nobody is perfect, it is important to be willing to learn from mistakes and learn from other people and industry best practices. **What do you dislike about Specright?** Would like to see a quicker turn around on learning from mistakes made in the past. Repeating the same mistake over and over leads to a lack of confidence and decrease in trust. Teams need to improve on proactiveness in general. The teams should be able to advise solutions based on industry standard, system capabilities and customer business requirements and process. That currently does not happen. Currently the mind set is very reactionary. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** Ensure business process is nailed down prior to implementing. Implementing any system before a process has been identified is setting up for failure. The only thing that may be considered a dislike is having to learn Salesforce Lightening kinda wished we would have started there instead of starting with Classic. **Recommendations to others considering Specright:** For Specification Data Management, Specright is the only system on the Market today as far as I am concerned. Others systems have features for Specification Data Management but it is not the sole purpose of their Product. **What problems is Specright solving and how is that benefiting you?** With the connection of all of our data it has opened our eyes at the amount of GAPS we have within our Specifications (Old Data) and the need to validate them. Also the rationalization opportunities have been easy to spot and fix. We went from 77 different Pallets within North America down to 19. Technical support is first class with a very knowledgeable and approachable team. Specification templates can easily be tailored /amended to suit the business needs. Restricted access can be granted to 3rd parties (eg Vendors) to enable them to check data/ amend/ upload documents. All documents can be stored in a single document - with no limits on number/ size of attachments. All changes/ modifications are logged. Specifications can be set up as Supplier specific or generic Approval process / workflows can also be tailored to suit System is constantly being upgraded / improved- example is the inclusion of TOPS pallet stacking plan capability **What do you dislike about Specright?** Would be good to print 2 page summary documents with images included - this is being developed. It is s true workable database. as a Global solution Specright is ideal - enabling almost instant access to documents.
