What do you like best about Sovos?

Online access allows flexibility of timing for my convenience. The various reports to support the tax returns are helpful (File Analysis Report and Tax Filing Report). The online message exchange also resulted in very quick responses to questions and requests for clarifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sovos?

Experience is mostly excellent and helpful in routine and in troubleshooting. One downside is resolving overestimated payments and adding new states resulting in overpayments or underpayments. The negative aspects of wrong payments is then confirming the application of overpayments to future month filings or incurring penalties for miscalculated liabilities that result in penalties that Sovos do not help to pay though it seems we pay for the services to avoid penalties. The other bad experience that was eventually resolved was a technical issue where the data file we submitted at month-end was resulting in duplicate data causing a much higher liability than the actual data supported. That took several months to resolve and may not have been Sovos's fault but I remember the Technology group expressing some frustration in getting the issue resolved (I am not part of the IT team). Adding Illinois as a new State to pay taxes to even though another Headwater entity pays tax there has been complicated. We pay quarterly and the first payment we made missed one of the accrued months, then when the missing accrued month was paid in the very next quarter the payment was duplicated so now we have a prepayment for the next quarter to be tracked and properly applied. What do you like best about Sovos?

I like the connectivity between GTD and Cert Manager which is why we choose SOVOS to handle our tax needs. We work with a large amount of exemption certificates that the credit department was manually dealing with until we started using SOVOS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sovos?

It seems like the Cert Manager platform is still evolving to meet customer requirements. The email system could be better. If you could directly connect via API to email links to your customer list, the tool would be a lot more efficient for our credit department. Right now, uploading certs can be a very manual process. I'd like to see this improved in the future.

I also wish I had more control over the users. Anytime I need to add or make changes I have to open a case, even as the administrator on the account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sovos?

Works seamlessly with SAP ECC 6 and SAP Commerce Cloud, tracks all transactions from all systems and makes tax filing a dream. Changed a 2-3 week process to a 1 day filing process. Great result for our team and organization Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sovos?

No major challenges, The configuration took a bit of getting g used to but works well. The accuracy depends on how detailed you integrate address data, so working to continually improve this to have as close to 100% accuracy in US sales tax rates as possible. System lags or hangs some times during times of peak sales tax filing. Which is annoying if you are testing something or setting up exempt customers.
