Overall, my experience has been positive, and I’ve found it useful for understanding and working with what it offers. **What do you dislike about Sovos?** Sovos has often been too quiet and hasn’t been helpful when I’ve needed support. **What problems is Sovos solving and how is that benefiting you?** When it comes to the problems I have, it definitely helps. ### 2. Pros and Cons working with SOVOS **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022 **What do you like best about Sovos?** Sovos currently files all of our state returns each month/quarter. They are done timely and my rep is very responsive and easy to work with. Regarding their technical help, at least one tech is excellent to work with and will solve most issues, if I can connect with him. **What do you dislike about Sovos?** The initial set up was very costly, with our company being charged every time we called for assistance or were ready to set up new state jurisdiction. This was above and beyond the initial fee. Also, we use Net Suite and the two systems (Sovos GTD and NetSuite) are not working well together in identifying those clients that are tax exempt and have exemption certificates loaded, requiring us to manually override any transactions to suppress sales tax. There is also an issue with SOVOs over riding the tax calculation made by our retail web site, changing the Cash Receipt with it is imported into NS, causing it to not match the initial sale $'s on our website. The difference is usually pennies, but it does cause reconciliation problems **What problems is Sovos solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeps our system tax rate calculation current with state changes for better compliance, time savings when they file our returns with the states and ease of reporting regarding sales tax for each state and jurisdiction. ### 4. Updated rules, rates, exemptions about tax b. Up-to_date Data for all jurisdictions c. Custom Transaction-Level Reporting d. Data Aggregation and able to sync with Salesforce and NetSuite **What do you dislike about Sovos?** I can't think of anything that I dislike about this company or solution. We went through an ERP migration from GP to NetSuite, and we need to implement a tax solution within a short period. It was an amazing experience with the account management and support team. However, two years later, we end up switching to Avalara. Avalara is more intuitive and easier to use. **Recommendations to others considering Sovos:** After using Sovos for two years, we switched to Avalara as Avalara is easier to use and more robust in functionality. If you use Netsuite, this is a great combo. **What problems is Sovos solving and how is that benefiting you?** The system eliminates the burden associated with tax filing and compliance work. Without a system like Sovos, I can not imagine how any company can keep up with the ever-changing tax landscape. In the US alone, there are thousands of jurisdictions. ### 6. They helped us at every step to ensure the new certificates were generated and installed properly. The risk of losing productive connectivity with Sovos Taxcloud had been mitigated. Marvin the engineer we worked with was highly engaged and eager to help us generate the certificates properly and retain connectivity in our development, quality assurance, and production environments. Marvin has always been a pleasure to work with.. **What do you dislike about Sovos?** It would be helpful to receive notices of any disconnections or outages we experience in production. This would eliminate issues we have with miscalculating tax for some invoices. In some cases it was difficult to narrow down the root cause of some connectivity and slow performance issues. You won't have a common account manager and it feels like two separate companies when you negotiate terms. **What problems is Sovos solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tax compliance and e-invoicing.
